Pah, my Kumhos have taken 3 track days and the handling day, they still have about 0.5 - 1 mm tread left. Must have been your driving Colin ;)

Im not entirely sure what to do.. wether to leave me toyos + 17"s on for track day... rears are as-new fronts have 2-3mm left and would need replacing over winter.. so could run the 17"s and kill the fronts, then switch back to the 16"s for winter

or i could run the 16s... on the day

Not sure how this stacks up legally' date=' but a local tyre shop told me that it would be okay over the weekend if I was stopped because I have ordered them to be fitted on the monday.

Thats rubbish , and at 3 points per corner you really wouldn't want to be stopped with 4 bald tyres.

Don't forget the

So, if it's dry, I go around the corners even more slowly than normal then and stop to get my tread meter out after each lap........ Alternatively, if its wet, I'll go straight on at the hairpin as I understeer into the grass :D

You got standard sized brakes?

If so we could come to some arrangement about the loan of my road wheels for the day ;)

I think it's a fair use of language in this case.

hmmm so tempted to go on the track, but on standard tyres and brakes I'm not sure it will be upto the task!

If I cant make the track session then I will try and turn up to watch, even though it will be jolly cold!

Mike

Standard road tyres are what most people will be using.

As to the brakes, depends on how you drive.

Your brakes should be fine for the trackday, just dont abuse them. I'm still on the standard crap Michelin tyres :thumbdwn:

Like a girl.............no offence to JaneC!! When I meant standard tyre I meant more along the lines of the OM issue which are not that great in the wet and cold, lets face it wales in November it's going to be atleast one if not both!

Maybe I could upgrade the brakes before then it will need a service in 500 miles :D

I found trackdays to be a great way of learning the potenial of the car without the "on the road" risks; like a car coming at you.

As Jon says, it depends how you drive it. Keeps sessions short and work up gradually.

Or pop along have a brew and grab a passenger ride; where possible :D

will do gonna try my darest to get along, if I can get permission from SWSBO to have a go on track then I will book a place if not then it will just b a day out. Talking of SWSBO's does anyone else's read what is posted on here? I didn't know until last night, I was nearly sleeping on the couch! (Just joking incase this is read too)

Yes, mine does sometimes. Oh and she is booked to drive my car at Anglesey. Her first ever time on track

So, if anyone see my car with L plates on on track, be nice as it is SWMBO :D
