  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

My Skoda has gone now :)

Hopefully i have a nice reliable car now.

Left it parked up all week

Had it serviced and m.o.t. done today.....and it passed.

SWMBO washed and polised the Fabia today, then the little darlings two doors down decided to play football neat the car....

So tomorrow I will be inspecting any marks/scratches on the Skoda..... before heading to the borders tomorrow.

Sunday.... Will be spent having a wee drive on a road that will be included in a Briskoda drive.

Little bit more of the low:

Not done today as such, but took me a couple of days to sort it. Planned to do it for ages, but never quite got around to it despite lots of free time. Installed a Viper 1002 alarm and Clifford Callguard v2.0. Did it primarily to get remote central locking and lock on ignition on, unlock when ignition key removed, with the genuine Skoda aftermarket central locking. The alarm has the inbuilt shock sensor, and I added a tilt and proximity sensor. I installed the proximity sensor in the roof console by the sunroof motor, and managed to hit the sweet adjustment spot with it only warning away if you get right up to the glass. Just walking close, even if you brush the mirror won't trigger it. The Clifford Callguard texts me if the alarm is triggered giving an indication which input triggered it, and when the battery goes flat. Better still the texts cost next to nothing as I am using a GiffGaff sim in it and one in my phone - £10 top up = free texts for 3 months, after that texts eat into the £10 @4p each. I had hoped to set it up so I could text the car to unlock (in the event of locking keys in or if I used the alarm auto-arm feature), but this would require wiring in a relay due to the type of locking system the aftermarket Skoda one is that I fitted.

On the "to do list".

- Add horn honk (air horn) to alarm for extra noise pollution when triggered. Possibly installing another air horn to make two fitted to the car. Already done some work on this allowing me to beep the horn by remote control should I ever wish to (kind of sad I suppose, but the alarm offered the feature and it just involved joining two wires).

- Fit boot release motor so it can be controlled remotely via alarm fob (bit of a nuisance having to open the door to pull the lever) and a switch to detect when boot is open to bypass alarm sensors.

- Wire in the front fogs with new switch sitting on my shelf (none fitted as standard) either adding a separate warning light or using the dash panel one somehow. Just need to determine the type of connecting pin used on the dash panel and how to route a wire there and I'm away.

New battery and Briskoda sticker finally fitted.

Blimey! Good work. A fair bit of effort gone in there emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Looked at it and wondered WTF happened to my front badge. Looks like it's decomposing!

Finaly got to detail SWMBO's Ferbi B)

Snow foamed, rinsed, washed, cleaned alloys, clayed, wiped, AG SRP, AG Ultra Deep Shine, AG High Def Wax, rinsed off excess dust and wiped down, waxed and sealed alloys, cleaned and treated glass, dressed tyres with AG Tyre dressing, 303 dressing for engine bay plastics, Zaino Z8 wipe down and hoovered.

Next time I'm going for the full Zaino treatment..... :p (where's my credit card.... )

Not today but yesterday, changed the winter wheels back to the alloys, looks kind of strange seeing it back on the alloys.

Changed my car from having these terrible looking winter wheels:
