What did you do to your Skoda today?

Featured Replies

Hmmm - I see. Mine ran 183/298 at RS Tuning, when everything else was completely standard - original turbo, exhaust, cat in place, EGR etc.

Could be worth getting back onto Ben for an adjusted map then, as you should certainly be able to feel the difference with the 'butt dyno' ;) - delivery is much smoother and is more akin to driving a CR unit than PD. So it could be that after spool it's not 'feeling' as quick as the PD shove of torque is spread move evenly. But is noticeable in the mid-range, as well as providing more urge further up the range - i.e. at 4-5k.

  • Popped to the garage at lunchtime to swap coolant temp sensor. I don't think it's the problem but it can't hurt. Going to swap O2 sensor later for the spare I have. Went well, all sorted in 5 mins. T

I've dropped Ben a PM. To be honest without getting it on a Dyno I won't know for certain, it could also be that the car had been mapped previously and Ben has worked his magic of smoothing out the power delivery and getting rid of the surge of boost, I've also asked him if he can see if it had been mapped previously.

Maybe I was expecting the map to be similar to my pd130 where it felt like a stick of dynamite had gone off when the turbo spun up, again, difference between the 8v and 16v engines.

I don't do that much driving anymore either so I suppose it always felt quick and most of the time I pootle around on my bike or in SWMBO's Rav especially if its a short run

Sat at Skoda Dealer for two hours... Needs to go back on saturday for a new drivers seatbelt to be fitted.

On the plus side it got another wee run today.

Got four shiny new free coilpacks fitted by the Wellington dealer under the recall.

I wonder where they went on a 3km drive... :D

fitted my new engine cover from a member on here, I hate the metal circlip, on hose, hard to put back on, bad design. That is why the Tsi now has separate air filter

Looking through the front window it becomes apparent Ive neglected it! :S

that is because you are always on 1st word that springs to mind!:giggle:

Very true

Got 55 mpg out of my 1.8 TSI DSG going from Stoke to Worcester!

Got the range up to 650 miles after filling up with petrol at only £1.329 at Tescos in Stoke!

Petrol is £1.379 here in Worcester!

Don't know why that pleases me so much as I do not even pay for petrol (directly).

Nearly worn the front tyres out a service needed in a couple of thousand miles (19K).

Well, after months of deliberation, I finaly got round to doing the deed and popped my Zaino cherry.....

I used Mrs Stigs car as a "test bed" (60 plate Ferbi Mk2 vRS in race blue with a white roof) and was most pleased with the results. Sadly no pictures, but I used the following stuff....

Zaino car shampoo

Clayed with the shampoo as a lube (1 cap mixed with water)

1 coat of All in One

2 coats of Z2 with Z6 wipe downs between

1 coat of Z5, Z6 wipe down

Sealed with Z8

I did the usual snow foam pre wash and wheels cleaned with some new Bilberry, tyres dressed with Megs Hot Wheels and glass cleaned with Megs glass cleaner. I used Zaino pads and cloths for application and buffing the polishes and wipe downs.

Overall, I was very impressed. A few areas to improve, but the car looks great and SWMBO is happy, so thats all that matters

Next, a full detail on my Octi vRS.......

took the vrs for a ride out to bridlington

Gave the old beast a valet. Pressure washed all the arches with the fil's Karcher, and gave the interior a vac out, and polished the inside of the windows.

Rewired my retro fit DRL's so they now go off when the dipped beam is turned on, very OE now.

Over the course of this weekend....

Took it to Skoda to get the drivers seatbelt fitted on saturday and stuck another 200 miles on the clock going up to Dundee and popping into visit the inlaws.

Today - I mananged to stick a 50 inch telly in the back of it!

Put some Gtechniq G1 glass coating on the windscreen because yesterday's rain was too tedious without it.

Had a big fight with the insurance company... and got them to pay for 90% of the car... (Insurance companies in this country are thieves backed by the law)

Stopped the horrible noise from the exhaust heat shield/bash plate. Note to self "Buy decent jack or ramps before going underneath car"

Replaced the Pollen filter as the dealer said he had but alas they hadnt GITS!!! so changed that and the airfilter(which was a pig)

Ah the great challenge of an air filter change on a TFSI!

Really shouldn't be that difficult should it?! emoticon-0114-dull.gif

That is why I had to buy a new cover, as dealers and an independent( changing coil packs etc) smashed mine, the one on the front left ( rubber bung) seems in the wrong place, ( misaligned )
