Delivery Dates For Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

I ended up waiting 6 months for mine a CR , & popped back to the dealers last week with ref my compensation.

My local dealer is being up front with anyone who wants a vRS Diesel, they are telling people to expect 9 months for delivery ( a couple could have a baby by the time the car is delivered ).

I am very glad i waited for mine despite having the date changed 3 times,

Petrols are turned aound quicker, but remember if youre ordering a CR & you want DSG, it not just Skoda that are suffering, VW are as well, & I still think that the price for what youre getting is stonking value.

Anyone wondering what the compensation is, do a search on the site as there were at least 3 threads around this topic just before Xmas 2010.

Good Luck to all of you waiting, I really know how frustrating iy can be, specially if youre driving a car that you want to get rid of.

i have been reading the compensation posts, wasnt sure if its still running or where i stand regarding being entitled, i was told it would be march delivery or possibly earlier(invoice says march) so ive now waited 8 month.

glad you are enjoying your car, hopefully we will get ours shortly

Reference Compensation Scheme:

Since the 18 week timescale, our dealers have provided a free Courtesy Car (Octavia CR 1.6TDI) so my understanding is that this is in lieu of any vouchers etc.

Is this correct or are customers having both ??

Any thoughts/experiences ??

Hi JHE - Have you taken delivery of your VRS yet ??

I have finally had confirmation that mine has been built and on it's way from Emden. Hopefully only another 1 - 2 weeks to wait.

Ordered way back on 4/10/10 so we're looking at around 8 months by the time it's finally collected.

ANYONE OUT THERE BEEN WAITING LONGER ????

Ours might be on the same boat. I called SUK this afternoon & mine arrived in UK today. Not long left I hope. I've been waiting since Late Dec & I feel for you having nearly another 3 months on me.

Car or vouchers, not both as I understand.

My car is at the port waiting for the boat. Dealer reckons early June.

I've cancelled mine now, i'm an impatient little f*#ker at the best of times, had an interesting email off Lex who I would have been leasing my vehicle through, I posed the question that skoda must be losing a lot of business due to their inability to provide timely deliveries on their products and was it possible to lean on them to speed up deliveries, this is the response:

Hi Graham

Yes it appears that since I updated you last week, there’s been further slippage. It’s not unusual to get parts shortages in vehicle manufacturing but this has been made worse by the recent Japan tsunami, and we’re seeing delays across a number of manufacturers unfortunately.

Despite our size and buying power, Lex has absolutely no leverage over the vehicle manufacturers. We can put pressure on the dealers that have contracts with us but in reality they can do nothing until the vehicle is at or near dealer stock. Sadly, the UK market is not as important to manufacturers as we might hope and while they are still getting sufficient orders to cover their limited right-hand drive quotas they aren’t overly concerned. At the stage your order is at, i.e. it hasn’t yet gone into build, there is usually no charge to cancel so if you wanted to look at an alternative that would be fine.

Sorry for your disappointment, I know how exciting it is to get a new car and it’s so frustrating for us too when delays occur which are beyond our control!. Let me know how you get on with looking at other vehicles and once you are sure you want to cancel the Skoda.

Kind regards

well.... the vrs is finally at the dealers after 8 long months!!!!!!!hope all you people still waiting soon get yours.

This thread is now fully upto date. There is several people who have not updatted for sometime, and feel this thread is now coming to an end. I will message everyone who has not updatted so we can finally get this table upto date for cars ordered in 2010. Thank-you in advance for everyone who has contributed. Lets just get this table finished.

not sure when it came to uk,all i know is it was build week 18, trying to get info out of dealer has been near impossible.

rang skoda uk this morning to see if they were more forthcoming than the dealer, they told me it was onsiight at the dealers and advised we ring dealers and explain we had spoken to skoda uk.

rang dealers, they denied it was there, but said it was due today, less than an hour later they rang to give us the number plate number and told to get it insured to pick up next wednesday.

i have tracked the ships from emden and i know there has been ships in on tuesday and saturday last week at port of tyne, so i presume it was on 1 of them.

i asked skoda uk about compensation scheme, they said i had to speak to dealer. dealer told me to speak to skoda uk,sounds like i will be going round in circles again!

I'm having a total nightmare now.

Ordered mine on end of december 2010. initially week 14.....wishful thinking, then 18, then 21, then 25!

As a result i rang the dealer 2 days ago and the manager of the garage rang me back saying, he had personally checked with skoda uk and that it was getting built next week (week 21)!

I then rang skoda uk again today myself and they told me it was now week 28. Absolutely sick of the shocking service.

The guy was really helpful and said he would ring my dealer for me to see why they had provided me with a build date that was almost 2 month earlier than the actual provisional date of week 28.

On Monday i am going to the dealer in person to complain and sort out something, whether it be a courtesy car or a good explanation and apology.

Based on week 28 (thats if it doest slip any further, which it will) including delivery that will be pretty much 9 months.

i really sympathise with you, just counted up the weeks and by the time i collect from dealer next week it will have been almost 35 weeks, hopefully they will bring your build date forward.

dealer told me to order now we would be looking at around 1 year to delivery!!! ridiculous.

I'd disagree with that.

There are a couple of people on here who have cancelled but the vast majority have stuck it out.

There is absolutely nothing else out there that comes close to the value for money of Octavias right now and the majority of people are prepapred to wait rather than pay substantially more for something similar or even not as good, just because they can get it quicker.

If it wasn't for the VAT offer then I believe more people would walk away as they would merely be good value, not astonishing value, but then again, the waiting lists probably wouldn't be so long......

i do agree with what you say they are good value for money. but i think some folk wont order if they are told the waiting times,

i for one wouldnt have ordered a vrs if they had told me back in september we wouldnt take delivery until the end of may.

Agree too. It's a painful wait & i'm nearly there with the car in the UK (took 5 moths & counting - CR though) but I new it was coming, the dealer was honest & I rode it out. I took a demo out 2 weeks ago & it made me think it's all going to be worth it ! B) :p

Well I finally I have mine, I will be collecting it tomorrow.

Ordered on 14th November 2010 and told only last weekend that it was this week just gone (week 20) that it was being built. Get a text from the dealer on Thursday (yesterday) saying the car is there, I initially thought it was a joke. I then rang them and even went to the garage in the evening as I was still in a state of disbelief!

But it is real and I cannot wait!

about 26 weeks from order to collection, and to me that's felt like an age!!

Good for you. Someone will be finding it difficult to get a good nights sleep  !

What spec did you go for ?

My VRS is waiting for a boat so realistically I should have it early June at the latest, a seven month wait.

I've held out because I know that I couldn't get hold of another car of the quality offered for the price , plus I bagged the 0% finance - it would have been financial suicide if I had cancelled.

That said, a couple of colleagues have been 'put off' Skoda following my experience.

I have just ordered a vrs cr hatch last week and have been told I will be a Nov delivery, by the looks of this thread that may be a touch optimistic. Then again I wasn't told which November

:S

My Tsi vrs gets built next week. Been told to expect it around 3 to 4 weeks time

I ordered my TSi vRS (non DSG) at the end of March and was initially told 20 wk leadtime. However it is confirmed as build Wk 21 so should be here by end of June which is around 12 wks! Hope it happens and I can enjoy some good weather with it, LoL.

ps Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield have been very good to deal with so far. :)

I'd disagree with that.

In all honesty there isn't much that can touch the vrs for price, I still think it's a beautiful car and it still would have been my first choice as a replacement for my ailing vectra SRI, however when you're leasing the car (as I do) it changes the tables somewhat. When I initially ordered my vrs I think the list price with all the goodies attached was around 23k, the BMW 320D M sport touring that I've just ordered as a replacement for the cancelled vrs has a list with a few goodies at nigh on 32K, 9k more!! So pound for pound the vrs is without doubt a winner, however the lease cost on the 3 series over 4 years based on 25k miles a year is 10 pounds per month cheaper due to the high residuals that 3 series' command. I was shocked at this but I guess the residuals on the vrs aren't as good. Either way i'm gutted not to be having the vrs but my current car is on it's last legs and I need a replacement before August 1st so had to cancel.

Good for you. Someone will be finding it difficult to get a good nights sleep  !

What spec did you go for ?

I went for candy white estate, 170 CR DSG, with Columbus/phone prep, f/r parking sensors, rain sensor with auto lights, curtain airbags and spare wheel.

just to update......collected the vrs last night, what a great car, have already put a few hundred miles on the clock, but will have to wait till the weekend to really have some fun in it.

dealer reckons we are lucky waiting 'only' 8 month!!!!!!!

hope all that are still waiting take delivery soon.

Hi JHE,

Great to hear you've finally taken delivery of the VRS.

Mine is now at the Dealers and due to collect on Saturday (28th).

Like you I ended up waiting nigh on 8 months for the pleasure. Ordered back in early October.

I'll be sorry to hand back the 'Loan Car' - Octavia 1.6 CR TDI as I'll miss the impressive fuel consumption - Averaged out at around 57 m.p.g. during my 3 months with the car.

Regards.
