Doesn't really work against the red for me

You'll pretty much always find a good selection of Comp wheels on Fords though. Reyland Motorsport use them extensively for their track and rally stuff, and they've always had a big following amongst the Ford fraternity.

In with a fightng chance on the hearse though

Yep, different look, different colour. You have both of these in your favour B)

What is not in any dispute is that it looks nothing like an Escort Cosworth ;)

I just cleaned the LMs for the first time today...

I wish I'd have listened to my brother...

God they're a nightmare to clean :S

Ok guys...

I MIGHT have budget approval (from the Mrs) for 19's.

So.... need advice.

Car is a 2010 Petrol VRS Hatchback BUT I am getting the weitec coilovers fitted in the next 10 days (and I aim to have the ride-height pretty low).

I basically need to know which width of wheel I need, with which offset, and which tyre size to ensure there is no rubbing (bearing in mind the coilovers).

Cheers chaps!

I suppose least risk is to go for the narrower options? Ie 8" rim rather than 8.5" and a 225 tyre rather than a 235.

Having said that Harry has 235's on his with no rubbing (but I'm not sure what rim he has) and he has AP coils.

8.0 ET45 with up to 235/35

8.5 ET48 with 225/35

Should do for 99.9% of the cars without rubbing and altering the arches. (the rest 0.1% will rubb due to building tolerances)

Harry has R8 Replicas on his.

To be honest, I think you're mad to consider 19s combined with coilovers. But maybe your local road surfacing is of sufficient standard....

Had a look on the nicheconversions website Rob and the VMR V710 wheels only come in 8.5" width. Have sent them an email asking for advice.

There was a chap on here recently who had some VMR (not 710 though) in 19" at 8.5 width and he'd said they rubbed in the rear with a 235 however I can't remember what offset he said he had.

The nurburgrings or neuspeed that brimma posted look just the same as the vmr and they are both available in 8" widths.

I won't be purchasing the 19's until after the coilovers are fitted. If the ride comfort is considerably worse afterwards then I will get my standard 18" wheels painted grey/gunmetal/anthracite.

Are the TSW Nurburgrings available in the UK? When googling I can only seem to see them on American websites.

i have already emailed them and they assure me that they will fit without rubbing.

personally im not too sure and not willing to risk my £1099 which they have quoted

They are, but they are damned expensive - you could save a little by importing yourself, but check out the excise duty first

interested to see how you get on with this. Like yourself I really like the VMR710's, still you could still go for them but in 18's

Just had an email from Gareth Dean at Niche Conversions.

Has quoted me £1639.99 for a set of 4 8.5x19" VMR V710's in Gunmetal, with an offset of ET45. Included in that price is 4 Vredestein Ultrac Sesanta tyres size 225/35 and delivery up to Scotland. Delivery is 2-3 weeks apparently.

Quote: "This setup should be fine, obviously we cannot guarantee no catching etc as this is down to yourself as the car has coil overs, I personally don’t think there will be a problem as I recently fit the above set up to the below VRS with lowering springs (30mm) all round and no problems"

Mmmm. Now to get on the Mrs good side! Shall I take the bus, or a train!

I'm liking these for my anthracite Octy. Will they fit with spigot rings and wobble bolts, and....how do 'wobble bolts' work if that's not a dumb question? :giggle:

THESE ARE A 5X114 ET45 IN A 18X7.5J

You'll need adaptors as you need a 5x112 for the Octy2. So hubcentric adaptors and suitable wheel bolts would do the trick. BUT they're already a 45 offset, so by the time you add a 15mm spacer (the lowest reliable thickness for a reliable hubcentric), you'd be at ET30. Which on a 7.5J wheel will sit too far out in the arch IMO.

Not had any experience with "wobble bolts" but they might work.

Personally having had a set of rims in the past that needed "spigots" I vowed never to **** around again with wheels that don't fit properly straight out of the box.

I also have a mental issue with putting anything on my car that's not the best it can be in terms of fit, quality, design etc. but hey thats just me.

The Neuspeeds that Brimma posted are a fraction cheaper and come in an 8" rim, look virtually the same and also come in gunmetal. Personally I'd be looking at these first rather than take a risk on fitment with the VMRs. If they rub the niche guy will just say its because of your coilovers ie its your fault not his ;).

But hey, its your choice  do what feels right.

.. and yes I'm ever so slightly jealous!

LOL, not bought them yet Rob so don't be jealous - waiting to see what the ride quality is like after getting the Weitechs fitted this Saturday. Then i've got to get budget approval from the Mrs, which I expect won't be easy!

I will look into those Neuspeeds!
