  • Fabia 2 vRS. 68 going on 18. Us old dodderers can still give you young uns a run for your money. I like the Fabia as there is plenty of room for my Zimmer frame in the back.

  • Am I the oldest Fabia VRS Mk2 owner on the club website. Was 72 on 11th of May. Not to old to enjoy the pleasure of driving a fast car!! Hoping to make the club meet at Gaydon.

  • 17 when I first got my 1.2.. Now 18 with a 1.2 105 Monte Carlo on order insurance for it is erm... £1000

Was 35 when I ordered my vRS, now 36, hopefully get the car before I'm 37

At 20 I had an Alfa Romeo Coupe so I qualify under the terms of the Top Gear petrolhead test. Bonnet-kissingly luvly lookin/soundin/drivin unreliable rotbox so no surprises there.

At 30 I had an Astra GTE. Look its just not an XR3i thats all.

At 40 an ST24 Mondeo. 200 fun miles from a big tank of fuel. The only car I have ever managed to sleep soundly in whilst SWMBO cruised at 3 figure speeds which says many things.

Then went insane and drove diesels for a decade and kidded myself that big torque/small power band/mpg was worth stinking for.

Then Skoda went and launched the Mk 2 VRS on my 50th birthday.

On the test drive the petrolhead within was reborn, just like in the first Alien movie, and the salesman sat in the back had the same shocked expression as John Hurt.

I must be one of the youngest?!

21 and drive a mk2 Furby vRS :D

42 (too old for any of the other cars I briefly considered - Cooper S, Abarth 500, and Clio RS200)and MKII vRS owner as of today  .

After 24 years of driving manuals (apart from the test drive I had last Saturday) I found it pretty stressful picking the car up at rush hour (5pm) - still to get used to the gear box but sure that'll come - got a 300-mile round trip tomorrow so should be sorted after that.

Since were putting our previous cars in

Im 22 and drive a fab vrs mk2 was 21 at the time

My first car was a corrolla gl 1990 1.3 with 12 valves worths of power lol

Second car MGB GT 1978 with a bit of tuning

3rd 57 plate 1.8t polo gti

4th 2010 polo se 1.4

Not bad for 5 years of driving hey and i only crashed the toyota

My car history is an interesting one, for engine size at least :)

Learned to drive and first car i owned was a 1999 Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 CD

Second car after that was written off outside my house was a 2001 Vauxhall Vectra 2.6 SRi

Third car was a Seat Leon 2.0 TDi Sport 150 DSG (which is where my love affair with the DSG box started)

Fourth car is the 2010 Skoda Fabia vRS TSi 180 which is where my love of petrol turbo cars started and long may it continue :D

Im 28 now, and was when i bought the Fabia last year.

The most interesting statistic for me is the Fabia has the smallest engine, and is he most powerful. It is also more powerful then the 2.6 V6 I owned, which is the biggest car in the pile. The other interesting point is my Fabia out of all those cars is the cheapest to run so far if I include road tax, car insurance, and fuel into the pot.

  • 6 months later...

Picking my first vrs up tomorrow after driving a seat ibiza 1.9tdi sport for six years, can not wait and I am 47

Nearly all the fabias I've seen VRS or montes have seen have been driven by OAP's ;)

23, VRS mk 2

43, VRS 61 plate, It would have been more fun if we put the cost of our insurance on too! £330 for me and my Mrs :wall:

51 and getting 1.6 crdi Monte Carlo in Red with pretty much all the options - climate, ESP, reversing sensors, heated seats, armrest etc

Previous Cars are Jaguar XJ8 (290 bhp), Jaguar S-Type (280 bhp) New style Mini-Cooper, Toyota Landcruiser (still own this), Skoda Favorit (£200 worth), Subaru Forrester, BMW 525i, Rover 820, Ford Fiesta XR2 MkII, Vauxhall Chevette..

Also currently own Harley Davidson StreetBob, Norton Commando (1977) & Suzuki Burgman AN400 (K7) and a horse box for the wife and daughters ponies.

So had a few cars and many bikes over the years....

I thought about the vRS and to be honest it wasn't a lot more cash than the Monte and if I were still young enough to be more 'enthusiastic' in my driving I would have bought one.

My recent lessons from Jag ownership are; 290bhp gets you there no quicker, costs of repairs of expensive cars are proportionate to the list price, depreciation is a killer, opportunities to overtake and show a clean set of exhausts are getting fewer and further apart and the costs of running at £6 per gallon are simply eye watering..

So its 105ps Monte for me, I know I shall miss the Jag (it went a week ago) for the ride quality and V8 etc... but reality bites, especially in the wallet.

3 more weeks to wait for the Skoda and I shall see how we go.

26 and got a MK2 vRS and previously had a MK1 vRS, Grande Punto Sporting, Focus ST-2 and an Astra Sport Hatch.

Fabia VRS mK2 at 43... Second VRS had a MK1 Octavia prior to this bought at 35 .

22 and driving MKII vRS

Quick side issue here - any chance of a comparison between the Polo GTI and the Fabis vRS?

Currently have the Polo GTI and does what I need it to do. Not the quickest in the world, picks up when the turbo kicks in. I think the Fabia would offer more 'electric' performance from the word go.

Many thanks.
