Fish and Chip Sunday. February 5th 2012 NOW IN WHITBY

Featured Replies

Anyone got any ideas of where we are going to eat?

I remember a lad listing F&C shops of Whitby at a previous Whitby meet, obviously you will know where there are: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/145861-any-interest-in-a-festive-meet/page__view__findpost__p__1838313 Have a look at my reply a few posts below it. Mister chips seamed to cope with us all in December, do you think that might be the best place to go again? I have a feeling the famous Magpie Cafe is out of the question! :p

Are the Car parks still Free, I think they are in winter?

BTW, I think it will a bit cold and windy high up at the Abbey, so will you all wrap up well.

We visited 3 weeks ago and all the car parks along West Cliff were free I **think** until March 31.

The car park by the whale bones had loads of spaces even when we left c3pm. It was a Saturday though.

Parking along the cliff used to be free all year round, dont know if its changed though

I think the car park near Co-op is free, centre of town and plenty of room

Where we were before was great, we had the car park to ourselves

@ Ema_jane :-

Would it be possible for you to post a weather condition in whitby on Sunday Morning say at 09:00, just thinking if snow falls are forecast and snow is quite bad some may not wish to travel which may be a sensible thing to do if some are travelling from afar

Thanks Andy,

Just a thought, safety in mind emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Yeah but when the snow comes the hills around here are not forgiving...

Thats one of the steepest (couldt find a good photo of it but you get the idea)

Snow/Ice + Wrong tyre/Car = **** **** ****!!!

there's one particular bend that cool, because you go into it thinking "ok" .. then it just seems to keep going on and get tighter! lol...

Yeah thats that hill in the picture, on the way down. It still manages to catch me out at times :dull:

I just love the speed you can carry down them big hills, practicing the racing lines!

I have been down there on my bike, it is only a 20% I do a 20% 4 times a day, get 65 past cow and calf, cannot do that in the car down there, too narrow :giggle:

Well no winter tyres on the car, so go steady or sett off at six on the bike

For the north east, there is a 60-70% probability of snow accumulations of 4-8cms and possibly more if the snow continues to hold on longer in to the night period. Sunday should remain very cold but mostly free of any further snow.

The main risk on Sunday will be ICE (as in frozen water!) so please drive carefully.

So sunday should be OK. I just got back from Paris where its been -10c so it'll feel quite mild on Sunday :giggle:
