Guys,

Please have a look at www.gtc.gr to find me (as SKUDRS), Gr_Octavia_ABT(Thanasis), and others there.

See the proper thread for the Octavia Owners...

I'm glad I got interested in DV's all of a sudden and found this greek gathering.. meant thread.

Back to topic though, what benefits a new DV would have?

Maybe we should organise a Swedish gathering as well?;)

A new DV like the forge should give better throttle response, less lag after gearchanges and will last a lot longer than the stock plastic DV. I would consider the plastic DV from the EVO6. It's supposed to fit without much modifikation and be of good quality from what I have heard.

All this DV talk is Greek to me.

Ark!

Well, I found the thread but my greek is limited to tourist speak. Recognised a few names though and a few of the pics and some figures.

Stop complaining about the Greek language, it's not that difficult to learn :D

Cheers,

FD (Nikos)

As a classical student I had two years of classical Greek on the age of 13/14 - only to find out that today's Greeks have changed all the vowels to sound like "ee"...

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just got round to changing my Forge 007 from the standard orientation to the reversed option. Findings are that there is no difference in throttle response but that there is definately a more pronounced Psshhht noise when changing gear or coming off the throttle.

Manny,

I can translate if you want..:D

Guys,

I've heard that the DV from Audi RS6 is veeeryyy nice...:D :D

And very cheap too.

The diafragm is made of carbon? so in is unlikely to fail..

Any comments on this? is the above true?

If yes ..it's my next mod..:)

Hmmm, but is it interchangable? Isn't the RS6 likely to be running much higher boost pressure?

Mike at Jabbasport knows what he is talking about and recommends the Bailey DV. Mine is standard, but there again my car isn't tuned.

I've got a Bailey DV from Jabba; looks the dogs danglies IMHO and does seem to give a slight response improvement. You can also, under the right ambient noise conditions, hear it venting into the airbox.

Also fits under the engine cover with no problems.

I will posts some pics or maybe Denis will.;)

Thanks for the reminder, Adrian. I haven't looked at them yet, nor am I sure whether I can post them to my Briskoda webspace since the change of server. Will investigate.

Adrian,

How much did Mike charge to supply and fit this DV and has he seen an improvement in performance on the R/R or just response?

Chris

Chris,

normally they cost

Adrian,

Do you know if his view is that it tends to improve performance or doews he recommend it just the feel and as the stock one tends to wears out in due course ? Are you convinced yet about the Milltek Sports CAT?

Chris

I think Mike's point of view is that the DV doesn't add any performance just improves response. He also says the stock DV is upto remapping but it is prone to fail. Mike will only tell you it needs replacing if the stock one is knackered. It's nice to know that he won't tell to change something just for changes sake. Good on ya Mike!

My original plan was to get the Milltek sports CAT so I think I'll probably stick with that. Won't happen until next year now though.

Got to save up again and give SWMBO time to forget about the bits just done.;)

Cheers.

Adrian.

Adrain,

You never know but if I am tempted to the DECAT solution next year then would you be interested in my Milltek Sports CAT and D/P?

Chris

Chris,

I'd be interested. The lure of extra power/torque and the sound of popping and banging on the over run have gotten to you? It is intoxicating; liked the sound of both Dave's and Jon's. Unfortunately too loud for my circumstances.:(

Well see what happens.

Cheers.

Adrian.

  • 10 months later...

I thought I'd revive this one.

This afternoon I changed over from the Forge to the Bailey (Cheers Denis). Noisy little bugger isn't it? :D I spent the rest of the day racing around Derbyshire :D

You can even get it to make itself known while you're parking

(Actually this is an old, but very entertaining thread. Briskoda.)
