That or the Fiesta ST Steve.

Yeti

Looks very nice, think I might be tempted to have it slightly lower.

I have seen it around, well okay, parked round the corner for the last few days and it looks great in the metal.

Sorry Richard, I had to stop and say hi as I was passing. I was on my way to a no show. But I didn't know that at the time

Put it on the corner scales this morning, for a full fat weight with all the extra kit fitted.

0rn8.jpg

So one K04 Yeti will full interior and a full tank of fuel (less than a mile to the local V power) is 1,526kg.

Pre-paint and K04 /brake/suspension/bigger ARBs etc... work was 1,511kg.  So a not too bad 15kg increase.

Next we need to get it as close to 1,400kg as we can.

I'd like 1,350kg, but that might be asking a bit too much without going daft, considering it's got a four wheel drive system under there.

Considering a Fiesta ST is 1,200kg and a mk2 Fabia VRS is aprox 1,290kg.

All without the driver.

Lovely. I'd take one of these. Not sure how you're going to get it down to 1400kg though, but I suppose rear seats etc all add up. Really looking forward to some video from the track.

I'm expecting to save 80-90kg by removing all five seats and fitting my two Tillet buckets.

That will then leave me another 35-45kg to find...

The Yeti rears are far heavier than other Skodas because they are steel framed folding seats.

They are more than double the weight of the Fabia ones.

Yep, standard seat removal will make a massive difference

Great buy on those scales Richard - intriguing to be able to easily see the differences made.

Diet ?

I am 6'3" and 80kg (12 stone or so).

I'm not sure there is much to lose there Steve! :D

Maybe I should give the double chicken waffle burger a miss on Saturday at your meet!

Stick that on the scales, then you'll be able to make a judgement call! :D

I am a big fan of those scales.

My current favorite gadget.

Stick with the salads

What about Hydrogen in the tyres  :giggle:

Take off the roof rails,

Remove the Air con / Climate.

Just a few off the cuff ideas

I want to keep the air-con.

Already past those ideas and on to carbon fibre bonnets, racing batteries and light weight suspension parts, like wishbones... :peek:

I'll do the seat swap tomorrow and then see how far away from 1,400kg I am.

Maybe I should give the double chicken waffle burger a miss on Saturday at your meet!

*Outrageous french accent* Oh but sir, what about one wafer-thin mint?

Looks like its still going to be a very capable car no matter of its Power/Weight ratios!

Could go down the Koenigsiegg route and have some Carbon-Composite Wheels made

Good point about the wheels - do we know how much an Annapurna weighs?

I've got some nice Speedline Turinis available Richard, if you want to save some unsprung weight. Was a 2-3kg difference per wheel, against Zeniths/Neptunes on the Octy2.

By the way, if anyone has a spare Yeti bonnet... I could use it.

Why?

Why?

I want to weigh it and potentially use it for a mould.

Yeti lightweight panels are not exactly in high demand, so sourcing then is tricky.  If I go that far.

I suppose they are! Any other serious performance Yetis known apart from yours?

Only Lee's "Beti the Yeti" which runs the same K04 turbo, but it's more of a road car with optional extras like the big glass sunroof.

I avoided any extras like that due to safety and weight.  Because my planned use is rather different.

Could always go for the "Mad Max" look and ditch the bonnet :P

Nothings lighter then having no bonnet at all :D

I don't know much about race cars, but those corner numbers look a bit weird to me!

LF 1.5 times heavier than LR? And isn't rear seat removal going to increase that difference?
To me, it looks like you need to focus your weight hunt in (or over) the engine compartment.

How about custom hinges for the bonnet so it detaches easily? drive to meets with bonnet on, and simply race without it? :p

*Edit*: Errr .. as Taylor suggests in the post just above!

Something tells me the front heavy thing must have been mentioned as well.

Move along, nothing to see here ...
