The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

Nothing clever about the way these guys are racing on a road (presume one of the CIS countries)

But it looks like word is out internationally that Yeti's can go fast

2.0 Diesel with front end damage? ... not sure how this is going to help.

Ohh dear I didn't even think to look at what engine it had! My bad sorry!

I've spent the morning reading through this tread and I am completly astonished of what you've accomplished with your Yeti.

But since the main purpose with the car is track performance, how come you haven't got a haldex upgrade? That's a pretty common upgrade to do here in Sweden and a quick google-search showed me some suppiliers in the UK aswell. The down side will probably be that you'll ad a kg or so to the weight of your Yeti. :D

Keep it up!

tell us more about the upgrade - is this a software upgrade?

Yes it is an upgrade for the haldex controller chip

What is the difference between current Haldex 4 and new Haldex 5 like one installed in Golf R?

You see, I am not much of a keyboard warrior and was more counting on real life experiences ;)

But seriously, I really wanted to know if anybody had direct experience with 4th & 5th gen Haldex systems

I bought a car on the strength of 20 minutes with a car fitted with the GEN4 system.

Can't say I really wrung the cars neck as my son was in the back (shouting weee and brum brum) but all in all mated to the 1.8 TSI it felt a very nice package. Probably only useful thing I can say is that no fuss occurred when I over enthusiastically entered roundabouts or left junctions from standstill intentionally trying to provoke wheelspin, the system seemed a step ahead of me with no sensation of an initial slip, just plenty of forward motion.

I haven't driven a Haldex 5 car hard enough to form an opinion.

I tend to quote what I know rather than what I heard.

Fair enough :)

It's a poor photoshop but I got bored and did this :)ujegara4.jpg

Looking at the angle that must be Paddock Hill corner. :D

I think the Yeti is too big to carry Fantasy Green off.

I dunno it was one of the track day pictures! It wouldn't work with fantasy green sadly!

A suggestion to add more weight.

Do you use a full harness or a 3 point seatbelt?

It the latter, then get a couple of CG Locks to hold you and a passenger in place while the car goes round the twisties.....

Briskoda "How Fast?" 2014 report...

Yeti went well.

Out of 16 cars it came in 2nd, just 0.22 seconds off the leader (Jason's 300+bhp Mongrel Fabia) over a 1.8 mile circuit and felt really well balanced and nice to drive.

Did feel it's 1400kg on a long sweeping low speed bend though.

Now to get it ready for Castle Combe in four weeks. :)

It's working out how far to take it though.

Still have all the interior trim panels, window motors in fully dressed doors and the rear wiper.

Place I'd really like to lose more is the front, but that gets rather expensive. :D

I've found with a set of cheap in accurate luggage scales I've lost at least 150Kg if not more from the interior and I can't really lose anything much up front without getting very pricey!

What about removing the slam panel from behind the rear bumper?  Or is that a bit too illegal?

I am having dark thoughts about selling the Yeti VRS. :peek:

While it's still easy to put seats back in and before I gut it.

So it's still easy to make it a nice road car.

Anyone got £18k burning a hole in their back pocket?

Doesn't include the seats as I want them for the Citigo.  Standard ones provided.

I'm guessing the market isn't a huge one...

BMW have Alpina

Mercedes have Brabus

Porsche have RUF

Skoda have..... Fox???

Could this be a move into a new business territory? :-p
