The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Hope you made it back okay Richard.

I did, got it recovered to work (arrived around 3pm) where I have a spare set of rear braided brake lines.

Jumped in YET1 and went home, via a few odds and ends I had to do.

It'll be back on the road tomorrow.

May need new tyres for Blyton though...

Thanks for the help running those service bits to Taylor after my lack of independent transport.

Was testing a set of brake pads from PB Brakes who suppied the kits (better race pads) and in my opinion they seem as good as the DS3000s, just noticably cheaper!

Very impressed.

Helps to have fluid in the system though. :D

Yup I've had fluid loss in Fabia on main road that shocked the hell out of me so I was using engine braking for the next 2 miles

That'll be the problem then...

New and improved version. :)

Braking loss is no fun :( glad you managed it OK - track experience helps I suppose :)

The improved version, will you have enough slack for turning and suspension travel?

It's the rear brakes, so not an issue turning.

Also that's the suspension at maximum drop.

Now it's on KW v3 and Golf R32 ARBs it doesn't have much lean at all. :D

Sorry, should be reading the posts more carefully! *facepalm*

I spy with my little eye...

A 2010 Octavia VRS (petrol/manual) that's had a fair old shunt up the chuff.

Richard, concentrate! Don't get distracted, enough projects in the running for now! ;):D

Doesnt matter if a lorry run into it from behind. As long as the front is OK :p

Oh, BTW, I just remembered. I spoke with car glazing specialist neighbour of mine regarding plastic windows. He obviously reiterated that front wind shield has to stay glass, no exceptions.

Side windows and back plastic no problem. He gets them from specialist here in Herts. They make moulds from existing windows and then make lighter plastic ones. Asked about price he said it depends but should be around £150 per unit.

Suspension setups on performance Yeti's.... one of my hot topics right now...

Did you not have the H&R adjustables on this Yeti or was that the TDi? (or am I totally wrong on all counts?) :D

Did your Yeti not come from the factory with the OE Golf R32 ARB's?

I meant Golf R32 H&R.  Same on both Yeti.

£150 per window I assume?

I only want the engine.

But they don't seem that easy to find...

I just think a 400bhp Yeti sounds like a far better round number than a 320bhp one.

And it's handling that 320 like it's stock with the haldex traction.  So you could argue it needs more! :D

Ah, ok, understood. :)

Woah, that sounds pretty terrifying! It was bad enough losing brakes from 55mph, but on the track! Scary stuff glad you controlled it well though

Yes, but treat it like a ball park. I am trying to remember the name of the place... nope, need to ask again :(

Ah, but it ALWAYS needs more ;) - that is called horse power addiction  .

I must admit seeing the vids of your vRS Yeti that it looked well too peaceful and composed, like you were not even trying ;). Either you are diamond in the rough F1 driver in disguise or the car is THAT good, choose your pick  :bandit: .

BTW, I am sure there is more than puny 400 ponies pent up in that 2.0L lump  :strong:

I think haldex really is that good. :D

Your pretty good though Richard :) you catch potential slides nicely after hitting the kerbs :D

That's just the ESP, I'm too scared to turn it off.

Try it! At HowFast? switching it off shaved 1sec off my time within two laps. I was able to generate more grip with the throttle this way and take much tighter lines through corners as well as getting full power earlier. But perhaps your 4x4 would react differently than FWD?

Do you really think I leave it switched on?

I was taking the pish.

I was thinking! You drive an R32 and that's a handful so I was thinking you'd be able to handle a meagre 320bhp Yeti!

Why not, most people do :). It slows you down a lot but saves tyres ;)

Need to get it back on the scales.

With more weight off (estimated 20kg of wheels!) and the extra cooler it'll be interesting to see how close it is to 1,400kg now.

I'm not overly familiar with Yeti but can you fit the alloy lower control arms & alloy hub carriers off a Passat or S3?  There's about 4kg per side saving IIRC
