VCDS Adaptations. How do I ..........

Nope 😉

Adaptation channels are adjustable using VCDS, ODIS, VCP and OBDeleven. It's down to the module software and coding to what adaptation channels are available.

The dataset/parameters are not 'adjustable'. ODIS or VCP are directly changing a section of EEPROM in the module. The XML or ZDC file contain the data, where it needs to be written, checksums to verify the data and any security codes to unlock the module to write it.

They are distinct and separate from each other 👍

If Rosstech wanted, they could add the ability to write datasets. I doubt they will as the only 'true' source for them is the VAG servers via ODIS with a subscription etc...

Edit:

If you want to get an idea how some datasets are constructed, take a look at:

https://skodapilot.com/rdkseditor/?lang=en

https://github.com/jilleb/MQB-FPA

The first link is for direct TPMS modules, they are quite well understood so custom datasets are possible. This means that you can create a dataset containing the correct tyre sizes/pressures for any vehicle rather than relaying on VAG datasets. If you create a few datasets then compare them in a hexeditor, you'll soon see how these datasets work.

The second links is an ongoing project to reverse engineer the CAN-gateway dataset. Although some parts are now understood, plenty isn't. As I already had the dataset for my CAN gateway, I used the info to make the 'vRS' button only light up in 'sport' rather than all modes apart from 'normal' :D

Other modules will have different formats which are likely to be unique to the module and software version...

Thanks for that. I flashed my bootlid module using odis-e from version J to a more recent version AB, and now the bootlid only opens 1/5 of the way. I'm trying to figure out how I establish whether it needs some paramater file after flashing it, or whether adaptations get lost after flashing, or whether I just need to go through the vag group bootlid 'training' sequence which doesn't work for me. I'm confident the ab version software is good to use on the same module hardware as the j version

I would expect thee bootlid module it to need a parameter file after the update but I've never tried such an update :)

Did you find the TSB/TPI to go with the flash file you used? That should give some clues as to what's needed after the flash. Any fault codes?

So someone kindly sent me this dataset yesterday, but I was expecting a single xml file, the structure here seems to be one master xml referring to many other individual xmls, at a guess each of the individual xmls judging by the naming convention is for the individual memory addresses of the eeprom or something? I just wanted to know if this was a normal /recognised structure before I try applying it

I've never seen anything like that before, every xml I've used has been a single file :)

I'd expect ODIS to refuse it if it doesn't like the format but it certainly a risk to try it.

Hi everybody.

Im a fresh member here and im not sure how to search in topics so im sorry if this question is already been done.

I have an O2 Fl from 2010 and i'd like to put eyebrows on it. But then my front parking lights will be covered by it. The question is: in vcds cent elect adaptation what do i have to change to what values to make my drl as parking light as well and also turn off my actual parking lights? I already found out drl must be C48, C49 and the parking lights are C26, A44.

I hope you can help me, thanks in advance!

This isn't a change you can make with VCDS.

You'll need VCP or ODIS-e to edit the lighting configuration in the BCM EEPROM directly :)

Skoda Octavia-II FL ( 2012 )

My car has the coming/leaving home function already installed and activated from the factory.
The problem is that it is the Xenon low beam that lights up.
(The fog light does not come on.)

Is it possible to code with VCDS and change/switch function so that it is the fog lights that are lit instead of the low beam ?

Yup, should be.

Start by posting an autoscan so we can see what your car is made from :)

This is the most updated post about this topic so I will try to explain and post my modifications and questions here.

Yesterday I had 10 minutes to play with vcds on my mk3 facelift and I did some changes:

Deactivate interior light with trunk opened (only the trunk light is on)

module 09 - Adaptation

Interior light 2nd generation - "Innenlicht bei offenem heckdeckel einschalten"

change to inaktive.

Liters to refuel

module 17 - coding 07

Byte 10 - Bit 4 activated

Clima speed on auto mode

module 08 - coding 07

Byte 11 - Bit 6 activated

Didn't worked for me:

Staging (I supposed that because my dash it's completely digital like this)

module 17 - coding 07

Byte 01 - Bit 0 activated

Lap timer

module 17 - coding 07

Byte 01 - Bit 3 activated

Right rearview mirror down with reverse (really wanted to work, I will try again)

module 52 - coding 07

Byte 04 - Bits 2 & 3 activated

module 09 - adaptation 10 (code 31347)

Spiegelverstellung-Menuesteuerung Spiegelabsenkung change to activated

Spiegelverstellung-Spiegelabsenkung bei Rueckwaertsfahrt change to activated

"eyelashes" on DRL only for facelift (can't find a photo of this)

module 09 - adaptation 10 (code 31347)

Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9-Lichtfunktion C16 change to Tagfahrlicht (daytime running lights)

Leuchte16BLK SLB35BLK SL KC9-Dimmwert CD16 change to 127

Leuchte17TFL R BLK SRB3TFL R BLK SR KC3-Lichtfunktion C17 change to Tagfahrlicht (daytime running lights)

Leuchte17TFL R BLK SRB3TFL R BLK SR KC3-Dimmwert CD17 change to 127

Any suggestions on the two last modifications?

Hello,

you need to put mirror button on R (right) , to make it work in reverse.

Hi,

Thanks, but I know it and it doesn't work in 'R'. I think that the problem are the seats, somewhere I read that they must be electrical seats to have the mirror reverse function. I don't know how this can be relationated to the seats, but it is.

Not true, i have Skoda 2016 ambition, without sensors and electrical seats.

Not true, i have Skoda 2016 ambition, without sensors and electrical seats.

Maybe you cant try to add menu option too, and enable it througu menu.

Some guy unlock mirror dip for my car, i didnt do it by myself.

My car is ambition, without electrical mirrors, wuthout electrical seats, without sensor for light or rain and mirror dipping still works 😃

Same car version, so I will check again all the changes in VCDS. I have the option in the menu but doesn't work. Thanks.

Hi everyone. I have a Octavia2 fl 2010 and for some stupid reasons I messed up byte18 and lost my DRL. After some hours in which I tried to find a combination that will work, I found that 5B it is working for me and the DRL leds are back. But I do have a problem. Now the DRL are not at full brightness, as they were before, and even though I try to change the dimming value nothing happens.

Does anyone know if can make them work as they would before?

AFAIK only on some Audi RS models is ESP off an option - on the Octavia 3 the options are ESP On & ESP Sport, usually by changing the value in byte 29 of the ABS coding

Controller 03 - ABS
07 - Coding
Byte 29

02 – Stock (for non-vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF
09 – Stock (for vRS) ESC ON / ASR OFF / ESC SPORT
