iPad 3

Nothing new really, another overpriced device for fanboys to jump on the bandwagon.

Nothing against Apple (I am an Apple Certified Technical Co-ordinator!) but the hype really annoys me.

The screen is a huge improvement, more than enough to tempt me to buy one. As for apple needing to compete with android... What do the sales figures look like for any of the competition?

There won't ever be Flash support in Safari but you can just download a different browser and use that instead - a google search will find you plenty of alternatives

Same as everything else Apple make then...

Ah today was the day was it? Had heard about this - guess the price of others will start to drop now, perhaps now is the time to get one although swaying towards the BB Playbook - only cos I have a BB.

What are the highlights of the iPad 3 then?

I have heard that one of our suppliers are going to reduce the iPad2 16gb wifi to £250 ex vat.....May be tempted at that price :)

Do we have 4G networks yet? So basically just a better screen and processor then.

I personally think Apple have made a big mistake. They needed radical changes to keep ahead of the market, especially with new tablets coming out this year. To me there isn't much difference between the new one and the ipad2 - nothing worth the release though.

Already have iPad 2. Won't bother to upgrade, no point, not much difference.

You can look at sales figures in 2 ways. The apple person will say apple sell more iPads and iPhones than any other manufacturer sells phones and tablets. The android person would say there are many more android devices brought than iOS devices. Personally I think android is more popular now, as it's now as easy to use as its, but others will disagree

Very few people actively choose android, they just end up with it because it's what comes on their cheap smartphones.

In terms of phones it outsells iOS, but on tablets apple has a huge market share.

Not much difference at all! Does anyone know if there's likely to be another new iPhone this year?

The next iPhone is expected either June July or October, but no one knows just yet

Not much difference?

It has a better screen, graphics, ram, camera. About the only bits the same are price and flash capacity.

£250? I know a few who'll be tempted by that!

Me, I'll stick with a netbook.

Seriously? The iPad 2 was already the best overall tablet on the market and "the new iPad" just takes it to another level. Android tablets are consistently falling by the wayside time and time again.

The new iPad3 still has a 5 megapixel camera, whereas the iPhone 4S has 8. I know picture quality is not just about megapixels, but if the 4S has an 8 megapixel camera, why didn't apple use the same unit on the new iPad???

It just seems like an odd decision for Apple to make.

I was going to get the new iPad 3, but as others say, I think it's more of an 'improvement' than a serious upgrade.

I had advertised my iPad2 on the company noticeboard on Tuesday afternoon just to 'test the water'. There are two people who are interested, and if they decide not to buy my iPad2, then I'll just keep it and not buy the iPad3.

I can live with that quite happily.

Ordered one :D

Same here.

Anyone want to buy a cheap 64gb 3G original iPad?

Ill be getting an aTV3 as soon as its jailbroken too.. the aTV2 is a very powerful bit of hardware running xbmc.. just missing the 1080 output.

Looks a much bigger upgrade than 1 to 2. The current camera arrangement is pathetic.

Unfortunately my "shiny stuff makes things better" budget doesn't stretch to an upgrade at this time. Neither is my 2 "mint".

So have they fixed one of the more annoying features of iPad 2...

Not being able to use flash or flash video

Apart from that, I'm very happy with the 2

Anyone want a mint boxed 32GB iPad 2 then :-) not a scratch on it with front and back covers ....... go on, you know you want to....

I could never understand the obsession with Flash. The film is mediocre at best and the soundtrack makes me cringe like nothing else
