iPad 3

Featured Replies

Did anyone see the news yesterday?

Overheating problems with the iPad3.

Apparently it gets much hotter than the 2 (don't notice any heat from the 2, but mine is in a leather case)

They were saying that it could potentially get hot enough to cause minor burns but apple say it is within their thermal tolerances ??

I am now waiting for the first Personal injury claim.....

The screen is a huge improvement, more than enough to tempt me to buy one. As for apple needing to compete with android... What do the sales figures look like for any of the competition?

There won't ever be Flash support in Safari but you can just download a different browser and use that instead - a google search will find you plenty of alternatives

It's not really an overheating problem.

It's a computer that gets warmer when it's being worked hard, just like every other one.

But as I've said in other threads, Apple have never been good at thermally designing anything, no vents, etc. The iMac I have here at work gets hot to the touch just sat idling.

Babs, try this: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23049/smcfancontrol

Works really well

Thanks - I'll give that a go!

The iMac doesn't get much use, but it's like having a radiator sat on my desk!

If you set you fan speed to 4000RPM is becoming AirCon

:giggle: Even this thread is tagged as hot

Got my NEW iPad yesterday, it's very very nice. Only problem is my 3GS screen now looks absolutely terrible!

From what i've read there's no definable standard for 4G, the new ipad supports 3G (HSDPA?), LTE and HSPA+. HSPA+ is currently being tested by Three and Orange I believe. So far from being useless in the UK you are pretty much future proofed with the new ipad as it supports what we have currently and what we are likely to get in the near future.

Unfortunately HSPA+ can use various frequencies and the UK trials are on a different range to the ones in the iPad 3, so it won't work.

I will probably pick one up for my birthday in june when i turn the lonely 30!

Sure? Everything I have read says that for LTE but HSPA+ seems to be a goer in the UK for ipad3, so theoretical 42mbps. Three are calling it 3.5g.

Happy to be corrected if I have been reading the wrong web sites!
