Horrible wet bank holiday

Recommended Posts

We did this a while ago on the ST Old Gits section of the ST Owners' Club forum and it threw up some great lists with loads of pictures. Check out pages 7 onwards here http://www.fiestastoc.com/forums/topic/17690-fao-40s-and-over/page__st__255 if you're interested

My own list is

Anglia 105E

Mg Midget

Mk2 Cortina 1300 (wow!!)

2 Mk 2 1300 Escorts

1.6 Capri cameo

Manta GTE

Sapphire GLS

Fiesta Ghia 1.2

Mitsu Galant GLS

Fiesta ST (still got it)

Best is the Octy by a very long way!

You should buy mine, seriously. Unless something drastic happens i'm placing an order for a new car in Sept, so delivery some time early 2013 i'd guess. If i could find a home for mine in advance i'd leave all the mods on rather than have the hassle of returning it to stock..

:)

What sort of mileage and of course price are we looking at? I have to say, I could be tempted...... ;)

I obviously keep my cars longer than average...

1988 Ford Fiesta 1.1L - Sold with 115k on the clock and the gearbox getting noisy

1994 Citroen ZX Volcane 1.9TD - Scrapped at 198k when the rear radius arm bearings failed

2001 Peugot 306 DTurbo HDI - Part-Ex'd at 140k when the heater matrix started leaking

2009 Octavia VRS CR170 - 60k and climbing.

Probably of less interest to most on here...

1992 Honda CG125 - only for a few months until I did my test

1985 Yamaha XJ750 - on long term loan from a mate once I'd passed

1994 Yamaha TDM850 - until it lost 3rd gear at about 76k miles

2009 Yamaha TDM900 - still going strong

Skoda Octavia SE estate 1.2 TSi (just got Thursday last week).

Alongside those I have also had these bikes from 1990 to 2009:

Yamaha 100 XS

Kawasaki GPz900R

Kawasaki Z750

Kawasaki ZXR750

Kawasaki ZX6R (brand new)

Kawasaki ZX7R (brand new)

Harris Magnum II with Gpz1100 motor (built from the ground up from an abandoned project of a friend)

Triumph Daytona 955i.

Noteable favourite cars, the Saab and BMW but easily the best was the Alfa 156.

Also loving the Octy so far, but only covered ~150 miles

Bikes: ZX6R was sublime handling, Harris Magnum attracted lots of attention, but the Triumph was my favourite bike, and the noise of the big triple on song with race silencer was simply awesome

A few months ago me and a few mates agreed we would, try to, buy build steal aquire models of each car we had the v5 for and kept for longer than 6 months. We have to keep to original colours though. Ebay is a very useful resource, it is amazing whats out there. E.g. Grump, all your Fords would be easy its the newer stuff thats harder.

I am in last place with just 4 models so far others are into double figures!

Great thread, got me thinking about my first (and favourite) car. My owned list is as follows,

Ford fiesta 950cc - my first and favourite for many reasons, driving and non-driving related!

Pug 205 GTI (1.6) - Better than the 1.9

Renault clio RSI - Crap

Pug 205 GTI (1.9)

Subaru Impreza turbo 2000 - loved it

Subaru Impreza wrx - Liked it

Subaru Impreza STI - Loved it

Audi S4 Avant V8 - Great under rated car, got rid after 3 years when my fuel bills started exceeding £600 a month.

2006 Octavia VRS petrol - Current car, had a few niggles but all in all a great car.

2012 Audi S4 avant black edition - Pick this on up on Friday so I'll be saying farewell to Skoda ownership. I'll still be visiting Briskoda though.

Cars I've driven.

My mates 911 turbo - Christ.

Lots of mediocre hire cars - the Kia cee'd was a nice surprise though!

Thanks for that mate. I loved the Audi and love the new S4 so I decided to go for it. I've only been averaging 27mpg from my Octy since getting it 2 and a half years ago and the Audi is meant to average 35mpg (no chance) so the fuel costs shouldn't be that different.

Damn, that would cost me a fortune :giggle: I actually found a 1:43 FL Octy estate on ebay in as close a colour as you can get, havent looked for the others though. I do have a 1:18 Alfa 156 die cast, but its a wttc model

Mr grump

I would have thought your capri would have been high up,,, I have always wanted one of them or a rs2000

Andy

It was an old one as a runaround, so wasn't that special ... having said that, its probably worth quite a bit now !

Yeah this is a great thread you forget what cars pass through your hands unless you make lists etc

Makes me slightly worried for the future though, my first 6 cars, esp the Escort were all in the high teens for mpg!! I just filled up at 152.9 with insurance factored in how can kids afford daft cars like we did???

250vrs, Porsches were both great 944 wasnt fast by any measure but handled beautifully and 2.7 4cylinder gave torque to exploit thr lack of traction... 928 was red with fully adjustable race spec susp but was held back by auto box and though fast was well beaten by jag xjr, m5 et al at least in a straight line. At 12mpg had to go though!

Sunbeam was awesome! Unreliable though and wouldnt go round corners taught me a lot about car control and it sounded !!!!

Jealous of Capri owners never liked looks apart from rs3100 but rear drive fun on a budget
