Grr and I met today for a sunny ride out to Brean. What a day for it.

Went on an awesome route though the Mendips, some really nice twists and turns, some nice views ( :x). Caravanners and dawdlers were soon dispatched with much noise.  :giggle:  Anybody else from the Bristol/Somerset area who wants a ride-out then let us know. Grr is a top bloke who makes really big cups of tea! We are by no means hooligans, we respected 30s and drank shandies like gentlemen.

I had to laugh after Grr and I parted ways; I was bumbling up a pretty steep twisty hill on the way out of Bath, convertible BMW Z4 in front of me, Peugeot in front. The Pug was making an acceptable pace, no need to overtake. I then noticed the male driver of the Z4 was clearly mentally 17 when he started doing a repetitive fall-back-three-meters then put his foot down to close the gap for the sake of 0.5 seconds of engine noise.

This happened about 5 times, no attempt at an overtake - clearly trying to impress a blonde who's hair was flapping around in front of the headrest. At this point I got fed up and had a sudden urge to overtake as loudly and brashly as I could, not in my nature, but I just had to.

I kicked down and screamed past (below the speed limit officer) couldn't quite hit the 14k redline, damn near enough. Hopefully he's learned his lesson, and is probably at home cleaning snail trails from his passenger seat.  :D

Good times.

Had a day green laning on the GSA today with a mate on his Tiger. Nearly lost it in some mud (very worn Conti Trail Attacks.....) but managed to keep the bike upright. Deep ruts were a challenge but the gravel trails not too bad.

A 33L tank full of fuel didn't help matters.

Well going to London friday was a disaster. Suppose to meet my brother at the ace but he decided to leave before we got there because his phone went flat. Pretty pee'd off tbh and was half and half about going home or carrying on.

So, decided to hang about for a while and jesus, no wonder Brent police are coming down on the place, fully mental! You've got a 30mph road, a mini roundabout on it with lots of Royal Mail lorries, buses every 5 min or so with bus stops right outside and normal traffic of cars and cyclists. Then you have the teenagers on 50/125cc bikes & scooters doing wheelies and stoppies, fast larger motorcycles doing wheelies, stoppies, burnouts and riding fast, cars flying up and down (2 brand new Fiesta ST's were racing up and down the road the whole time we were there) and to add a little more danger kids (12/13/14 years old) riding up and down and doing wheelies along the road. In the hour or so we were there we saw countless near misses and 3 accidents, it's just total carnage. On top of all that you have a footbridge that crosses the north circular with scooters riding along it! You literally didnt know where to look, we'd have left sooner but didnt fancy our chances of getting out without an accident it was so busy. The cafe shut early because of it all, they have a couple of orders against them and are on the verge of being shut by the police.

After a hour or so it calmed down a bit (circa midnight by this point) and we decided to go for a mooch about into London instead of wasting the trip. Headed towards park lane/hyde park area. It still amazes me how busy London is all the time! Had a mooch about the BMW and Ferrari dealers, watched the world go by for a bit then headed home, found some nice twisty back roads on the way back, was a good laugh. Went home via the motorway, stopped to check some guy was ok on the hard shoulder with his triumph, RAC were en route so left him to it, got back about 2:30 :D

Day off the bike today, chilled out watched F1 and took the dog out for a wonder. Might have a ride out to a cafe that has a bike night on Mondays tomorrow if I feel like it and the Mrs doesnt mind.

Also, does anyone have or has had a CBR, 2003 vintage? My mate has one that he blew the engine up in, he's got a new engine to go in it but now he has his fireblade he's going to flog it. Are they any good? Another mate has a newer one and it looks like a minimoto with him on it, hopefully the older ones are a bit larger. Got some GoPro footage, might try it on the top and see what its like, not sure I like it on the side. Might make a bit of a montage at some point though :D

Just commenting on one part of your post Matt.

So the world famous ACE Cafe is on the verge of closing down because of the Ped chavs.

What a bloody shame! And I mean that sincerely. I can't believe that proper 'hardnut' bikers

haven't been down and persuaded them to bog off back to Tottenham innit.

For those who don't realise the extent of the problem....

You wanna try driving an open deck rear bus in that mate..At ANY time you could pull away just as someone is hopping on or off

and half killing them or dragging them down the street in the process. To this day I check my nearside mirror just before I move away

in/on ANY vehicle as a symptom of driving a open deck bus in Central London for 3 years

Is it the 600F or the 600RR, the F is more comfy over distance I'd say but the RR handles better and is

faster straight out of the box. The old CBR 1000F would suit your build better IMO

Just to echo Bens post above. Top man although he made me feel a bit old with his pesky

youngness!  The ride was nearly over before it begun when a pensioner decided to straightline a

roundabout whilst I was directly alongside him and just 2ft from his door AND making eye contact

with him. Ben who was following said his car got quite close to my rear wheel as I peeled off to turn

right. Other highlights of the ride were the 5 car (or was it 6?)  overtake on a long straight

where we were all bimbling along behind a plodder and well spaced out. And some quite sharp but low speed

switchback bends on the road down to Brean, putting the moderate speed line finding skills to the test.

We saw a car about to be winched out of the ditch who obviously didn't negotiate that quite technical road

with as much grace and style as we did B) Good stuff! Our usual road home was closed and we ended up

diverting through some quite unpleasant traffic in the centre of Bristol and got some filtering practice in too

to finish the ride off. A nice test of our skills on all road types except motorway. Probably going to cover that

next time though as a run out to wales is probably on the cards next.

Pleasure to meet you Ben  Hopefully we can get out fairly regularly. I thought we were very well

behaved all things considered. :p  Comms next  OH and nice bike Ben.

Here's my one crap photo that almost lost me my bank card...

First id heard of it tbh. Such a shame though. Iv only been there once but its a proper legendary place isnt it.

I wish theyd stop callin those stupid little peds 'bikes' aswell.

More ebay goodness.

Just won a Knox K Pack motorcycle rucksack with all the attachments for.......

£1.04

Collection from Bath so about 7 miles away :)

I'll go collect tomorrow so long as this seller is a bit more honest than the last bloke on ebay

I won an item from. I actually bid £12.12 as it already had a bid on and was at 99p when I added my bid with

5 secs to go to the end. I fully expected it to jump up higher than it did after my bid.

Actual pic of the pack leeched from the bay

Dear grr666,

hi really sorry but the bag was advertised elsewhere and sold on facebook, if you have paid i'll give you a refund

Oh and as per usual there was no mention of this being on sale elsewhere in the ad.

For those who don't realise the extent of the problem....

Interesting, in what appears to be a serious piece about youth culture, the police are portrayed as being there simply to disrupt them having wholesome fun, when the interviewees are happily admitting that they are riding stolen bikes, and, where the bikes aren't stolen, they're removing number plates or taking them up to avoid being identified when committing illegal acts.

I'm hugely impressed with the skills on display, I'd just prefer then to be displayed on legally acquired and run bikes in an environment that doesn't put the public at risk and where they can be held responsible for their actions.

That just made me want to purchase something solid let say an old volvo 240 maybe and drive at the d1ck heads like skittles!

Can't express my annoyance at these plebs

Edit: forgot to mention the stupid little (I wanna be a gangsta skank) posh girl presenter! Some one needs a dose of reality

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

She'll end up with more kids in more shades of brown than you find on a Dulux colourchart.

I'm sure she'll come to regret the company she's been keeping. Karma always finds a way.

She'll get her dose of reality when she's trying to chase the ped bois down for maintenance

payments. Or when she falls off the back of one of those things wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

And as if by magic.....

Your first post made me supremely jealous, now, not so  :p

It's poor show that somebody lists something for 99p then bails on you when you win it for that. I understand that nobody actually wants to let the item go for 99p, it's a (mostly) proven way to generate loads of interest and bids. My girlfriend put up a perfume for sale for £35 once; 7 days and no interest. She then relisted it at 99p and the final bid came in at something like £45. Still, that's the risk you take and the legal contract you sign yourself in for and sometimes there aren't just enough people actively looking for a motorcycle backpack (your gain) and as such it sell for a loss. The better people accept it and send it away and the less-noble, well;

scumbag_steve_blank.jpg

Open a dispute and ban him into oblivion, you're effectively not being sent the item you legally won and he has no real alibi.

To be fair to the guy, I got a more legible response than from the last one who you have kindly

provided a photograph of. But unfortunately for him, I'd negged his feedback by then. Tough!

This shlt seems to be happening more and more on ebay, after the last performance

with hyper chav and his body armour I was in no mood for this.

Dear jacob_ryder,

Jacob
I don't mean to be rude, but I'm getting tired of this, you're the second one this week
who has pulled this stunt. Last time it was some body armour that had conveniently
been sold 'elsewhere' before my winning bid which just happened to be close to
what the opening bid was. I think people need to look up meaning of the words auction and honour.
Fine, have it your way but I will be leaving negative feedback.
Can I suggest next time you make use of the reserve feature so you don't waste someone elses time.

- grr666

And the reply....

Dear grr666,

I am so sorry and feel so embarrassed, i've been at work all day wiithout time to get on ebay and end the listing, all
I can do is apologise i feel like such an idiot for letting you down like this, thankyou for the advice i will take it on board
and once again am sincerely sorry.

- jacob_ryder

Yet somehow, for someone sooo busy with work I was messaged within 10 mins of the auction ending and continued

our 'chat' until midnight.

Funny that!

While there was a fair few scooters doing things, there were just as many bikes too. (I'll give you 1 guess who one of them is normally  :dull: ) It is a shame, I've never been into the history of places but it's just a nice place to go and meet other bikers/bikes. The majority are stupid kids who think it's a laugh without seeing the dangers. I'm all for a bit of fun and enjoying riding but do it in safe places, if someone wants to pop a wheelie then go for it but dont do it along a 30mph road between a Lorry and cyclist with cm to spare either side.

I'm off to another cafe's bike night tonight so it'll be interesting to see how it compares.

Went for a short bimble to Westbury White Horse, just in time for the sunset;

Mainly to test out a camera mount I wanted to try, my helmet has too many edges and strange faces to stick the camera directly to it  so had to compromise

Made for a nice angle. Found a nice place for the remote to sit as well. The camera needs to be a bit higher up though, taller suction cup mount ordered.

and I thought I was photo-whoring  :D

Just noticed the wide angle lens on the Drift makes the forks look bent.

I thought they came out well for phone pics.

Ah crap, does that mean next time you'll be filming all my dodgy filtering???
