Ah brilliant. Not far then! Will have to go for a ride out sometime if you fancy?

Ahh lovely having those roads on ya doorstep isnt it. I wouldnt fancy cycling it though! Haha.

Must be nice to have a dad who is interested in you and enjoys spending

time with you.

That's a real shame.

My dad started me riding at 16, then came riding with me when I started riding bigger bikes. We rode to Monte Carlo together and we even did Lands End to John o Groat's in one go when he was 70.

My lad has been pillioning since he was 7 (I had him in a sidecar from 18 months and we briefly managed to get 3 generations out at once). 3 years ago when he was 13, I sold my Hayabusa and bought the Tigger and took a month off so we could go visit my cousin in Amalfi.

One week down there, 2 weeks in the sun and one week back. 5,000 miles on the road.

This year he pillioned to Austria. 3,000 miles in 10 days, most of them wet, and he came back desperate to ride. CBT next month it is.

I don't know if you have kids, or if you intend to, but if you do, you have the opportunity to put the past behind you and get it right.

It's lovely to hear stories like that Gyp but my card is marked and

I know that will never be a story I can tell. Abuse tends to spawn

abusers and I can't take the risk. The cycle ends with me.

Here's an example, I'm the first bike on the train back to Holland from Italy,

Hang on a minute... that's cheating!

I wondered why you'd only done 2,200 miles!

I still much prefer cycling to riding the motorbike for pleasure.  That will probably change when I get a bigger bike & not constantly looking in my mirrors for cars/motorbikes catching me up (on the uphills/flats) and taking risks trying to get past me.  I had 1 yesterday, guy in a 118d overtook me on solid white lines on a tight left hand bend, he couldn't see around the corner and gave the oncoming car a fright, at least I was prepared, seeing him start his overtake in my mirror I was able to move out of his way as he pulled into where I would have been.

I just let them get on with daft things like that, 1 day it will catch up with them

Yup. Its not nice is it. It ruins the experience.

Especially on snake pass. Turns everyone into a loonatic that road does.

Could be off to Wigan on Saturday. And riding a 125 back to Bristol.

WTF am I thinking. I'll be at retirement age before I get home.

Ahaha. Good luck fella.

Im sure youll enjoy it!

I took a ride out in the sunshine to Glossop today, went via Woodhead Pass and came back via Snake Pass & Strines.

Fantastic scenery, glorious weather.

It was my 2nd furthest ride so far, while I enjoyed it, I did start to get a little wrist ache and fed up of struggling up all the hills

We are going to have to meet up for a bimble Matthew, I've not been over that way for a while now as working up in the Highlands I've been tending to take the bike to work and play about up there and fly back at weekends

I'm only in Warrington, near to the M6 / M62 if you want a brew mate?

A guy on UKGser is doing a euro tour with his Mrs on a pair of Thomos mopeds at the moment .....just because they can :) It's not about the machinery, it's all about the journey :)

I'm an IT Contractor Gyp, so can't afford to take to long away from work as I'm not getting paid for it :) We did the run down to Italy, taking in a mooch over to Slovenia for a coffee and a receipt :) then back and over Stelvio, into Switzerland over the Umbrail and up to Grimsel, then back to Italy for the train.

The train got me back to Holland, on the ferry home, I parked up the bike, picked up a bag and jumped on a plane with the wife, son and daughter to Portugal for a week, got back from there Saturday and am now at work on Ramstein AFB in Germany for the yanks :)

Cheating I know, but I wanted to push as far south as I could in around 10 days without motorway, and also wanted to visit WW2 sites from the Battle of the Bulge / Ardennes ......but yes :) I Cheated.

Next year going to say "balls" it, taking longer off and hoping to ride down to Turkey with the lad on board, need to get it in before I become the uncool middle aged taxi / bank that some kids see their parents as :)

I have done a deal with myself, as it's dry. If I go out do all the gardening, I can then take the bike out

Cut grass** at front no problems but the uneven back keeps making my flymo hover sod catch and dig in which is most annoying....... while still spinning I lost my temper and swung it shoulder height into a tree and punched said tree..... I am having a coffee and ecig whilst surveying the devestation left in my wake. On the plus side its been years and years since I got angry as a mere machine.
