What is that mate?

Honda CB1000R. Fireblade motor, suspension and brakes in a more upright naked frame more or less. I'd not heard of them until this week.

Nice, Hondas version of the z1000???

I thought it was a Kwacka at first glance.

Have you ordered one Matt? or is that one yours?

Ah right. Yeah alot of manufacturers are doing similar things.

Down tuning a sports engine (thou or 600) and putting it in a more upright, naked bike.

Yeah, that kinda thing, Z1000, Speed Triple, Fazer etc.

This one will hopefully be mine, deposit left, just finalising a few bits.  :notme:

Thats the idea, less power, more torque (100ft-lb!) and more comfortable. It was a toss up between this and a Speed Triple, in the end once a saw this Honda in the metal I decided I liked this more. You know of my love of single sided swing arms, funky dash and clocks, nice and stealthy in black & grey, good nick, totally standard. Strangely enough it's from a place up your way in Macclesfield, took ******* ages to get there and theres a speed camera round every bend.

I've kept it quiet, aside from you lot, my bike mate and my mrs I've not told anyone, until all sorted and collected I dont want to tell anyone.  :D I love the CB but need something a little quicker, over 50/60mph it struggles, nice to have a little in reserve. I dont want to fly about at 150mph everywhere but I do want a bit of grunt to pull away nicely.

Me and my boy on the way up the Stelvio from the Trafoi side.

Excellent.

I think it was a good indication of the weather we were riding in when we did our Euro trip this year that we got to within 5 miles of Stelvio, and decided that we weren't going to bother to ride it.

Well the CB isnt going in as Part Ex as I'd planned, my uncle is buying it back off me :D I'm pleased it's going somewhere to be loved! Only thing is, all going well now I've gotta get a train to collect the bike.

Where is it? If it's my way and you need somewhere to crash or whatever.

Just let me know

Get on the train wearing all gear like the stig!!!!

It's in Macclesfield, thank you for the offer though, really appreciate it.  I'm up for a little meet and and ride out sometime if a few of us are up for it?

I think it's going to go that way, twice if I end up dropping the bike to my uncle too :D

Game on Matt, I can provide accommodation if you want to make a weekender of it.

Got safe parking for a few bikes ;) It will have to be after my holidays though.

I'm away for the month 27/9 to 28/10 seeing what New Zealand and Kuala Lumpur

have to offer. But we might get something done before the weather turns.

Failing that I'll host a spring Brisky biker meet, I can sleep about 5 extra people

in my house (One will be on the floor but the rest get sofas or beds)

It could be a right laugh but I suspect Mrs Grr may go and visit her mate down in London

that weekend. She won't want to risk having to wait on us lot. She don't play dat wifey shlt...

Yeah I'd be up for something like that, spring would be a good time to aim for probably, I suspect we arent going to have much in the way of nice weather for too much longer. Very nice of you to offer space in your gaff, you are lucky to have some bang tidy roads in the area too!

How about a Northern meet / Northwest meet next Sunday, maybe J&S for a brew and out around some back roads at Peckforton, Burwardsley..... Perfect B toads that lend themselves to smaller lighter bikes?

Sent using random stabs with bratwurst like fingers...

I went to service the car yesterday at a mates garage and had a ride around his yard on his bike, the wild tingling sensation when I started it in the unit was something I've never experienced before, the noise and feel from a Harley is amazing.

If you get that buzz from an agricultural Harley you better be well careful if you try something Italian or Japanese !

Huge congrats to Valentino today at San Marino GP.

Try a MT09 or even a ZZR1400  (0-170 in 15 seconds) it would blow your mind.

Urgh. Dont get into Harley's!

My dad had a brief try with em. Bought one brand new in 2010. Got along with the torque from the engine, but nothing else. It wouldnt corner, it wouldnt stop cos the brakes are shocking, it blew the same relay every now and again which caused it to just stop working. It wouldnt cruise at a decent autobahn speed, even though it had bags of power. Nuts and bolts rusted when you looked at them the wrong way etc etc.

He traded it in for another r1200gs in 2012.

If you like the feeling from a v twin then you should try an Italian twin of some variety. Bought my TuonoR on that exact same feeling and at least the Tuono will do more than sound good

Cant beat the feeling from a vtwin

I'll have a big twin one day. Vtr or maybe an sp1 or 2.

There is a big price difference between a vtr and an SP, yeah. But stand em side by side and the vtr looks very budget compared.

One of the reasons i havent already had one tbh. That and the tank range is apparently shocking on pre 01 models.

Shocking honestly you wouldn't believe it!!!

60 miles on a track maybe 80-90 on road pain in the a hole!!!

They are a very capable bike especially if you play with the suspension (fork internals and rear shock upgrade)

Hmm. Thats a big thing for me. With a view of touring further and further, its just not good enough.

Im happy sat on the VFR for 200 miles between fills without stopping.

The suspension was another thing, i had an SV650s last and thats got budget suspension, i didnt want to buy another bike that needs money spending on the handling.

The SP though. Yes please! Gorgeous things!

I have cleared a tank in 60 odd miles on a trackday, though I have managed 140 whilst driving like a granny

Average is about 90/100 with some spirited riding

The VTR is quite a capable bike and pleasant to ride but the SP is better if you're a bit of a quicker rider than the average.
