Wash your mouth out young lady! You know my feelings on the (as MCN referred to it as) "80's retro disco" looking bike :p

Also a popular first bike though and a good all rounder in its class but not my personal cup of coffee. Did I tell my story about Fazer joke earlier in thread?

Wasn't for me either to be honest - much happier with my Gladius  - not sure on the Fazer Joke will have a trawl through the thread - blimey though how big has it got now ????

We need a new section of forum :D

I flicked through fazer story not there I don't think have some pics to go with it will need to dig them out, was just a mate had a fazer 600 (gold) when I had my ZZR600 and the banter got my own back in the end :D

I had a Yamaha FZ6 S2 Fazer and that was a brilliant bike. Very easy to ride slowly while you get used to it but really took off when you let it rev out. Well worth considering.

Take off it certainly does  In my case on one of my first ride outs - shot across the road and nearly mounted a bank whilst attempting to turn right !!!!

Not my finest hour

Talking of finest hours ill share this one with you

17 years old on a 125 coasting in neutral towards a queue of traffic and being 17 revving the engine (stupid mistake number 1)

Stupid mistake number 2

Wearing boots with laces as I come to a stop still revving the engine I put my left foot down

Laces get caught round the shifter and I wheelie in to car in front from stationary which was very confusing for the driver

Hahaha

New Forum Section !!!! - Marvellous idea

Nice feeling to get own back occasionally . When I was learning I had an MBX 80 for a while - went out riding on one occasion with a mate who was on his CBX 550. Got to traffic lights and he pulled up alongside me - goading me :o Fortuitously he selected neutral pulling off - have brought that one up once or twice over the years

Getting jibes off someone about your bike is bad but when it was comparing it to / coming from someone with this! Soon a big dislike towards them grew within me. All later models looked spot on though.

Oh Heck :D heart in mouth moment no doubt.

Had another moment with a mate who had an MZ. After a bit we decided it would be fun to swop bikes for a bit - started off really well until I went to take the first left hand bend - hideous scrapping noise and nearly thrown clean off - had forgotten side stand on bike wheel was still down

Right the Fazer incident:

A mate in old work had a old gold one and I had my ZZR600 a lighter higher revving bike with more bhp (but less torque) and in the scheme of things more modern/sporty. Despite this obviously the Fazer especially in semi rough condition was the best, more powerful, agile and best styled bike of all time....... I had no real ill feelings towards the Fazer initially I had considered one but liked the ZZR more (tested both). The then knocking my bike as if it was some sort of moped became too much after the 2569784th time so I hatched a plan :) . (also at time his ultimate upgrade was going to be a GSXR600.

He was on holiday for a couple of weeks and I bought my GSXR1000 which he didn't know, was the daddy of all bikes at work much loved by all and was immaculate. Of course my mate didn't know I had bought this and I had been chatting to him and said, I have secretly been jealous of the "Golden Bullet" (as it was named) and had seen a Fazer just like his that I likes and was thinking of trading in. Then asked some BS questions about the bikes to draw him in and it worked. He was so pleased and decided to state on FB that we were going to be "Fazer Friends :) " ....... I also said the one I was after was same year in black but with gold wheels and hinted towards him fulfilling his ultimate dream of having not black but GOLD rims on his if we swapped, we discussed the tyres on them and tread left and seemed set......

I found a random pic of a black Fazer on google and showed him it :D

Meanwhile the 'Fazer' was parked in work waiting for him to return, at this point over 140 people in work all knew EXACTLY what was going on and couldn't wait to see his face. When he returned he was overly excited to see it and I had it parked up with a big sheet over it with some polly under it to break up the lines make it look "80's disco retro" and pointed him in the direction and said, "its over there go on I will be over in 2 seconds have to make a quick call". I was actually thinking he could be REALLY peeved off at this as lots of people had been saying that I had got it and it was mint etc from work.

He went over and ripped the sheet off to find this: (post it on seat said "Fazer Friends For Life!"

Photo0051.jpg

From then on no comments were passed on my ride :) and the quote "AWWWWW Fazer Fwiends" was used liberally.

He took it fantastically he was so lost for words a mixture of swearing and laughing initially as it all set in and how more people would have been in on it, what he had been saying etc.... He called his missus immediately making little sense telling her what I had done and that he wanted a GSXR1000.

Felt slightly bad for a few seconds but that was about it :p

Down at wife's pal today. Her hubby has just ordered a new Street Triple, in purple. Quite jealous I have to say.

If he'd just ordered a green Speed Triple I'd be green myself and spitting pips.

He's getting on 01 March for the new reg.

Looking through this thread I am itching or a new bike I really fancy a zzr1400

You just missed out I traded mine in, in the summer. The 2012 model onwards is a totally different bike more power and a lot more technology, but a hell of a lot heavier! Main reason for getting rid was that I am moving back to the UK this year and it was running 220bhp (PC3 USB, TiForce 4-1, flies out, weight down to just under 200kg) the most unlicence friendly bike possible without a turbo!

Perhaps you should buy my current bike when I likely need to sell it in the summer :D

What have you had btw?

I've got a;

Honda RVF 400 NC35

Lovely little bike, I don't think I'll ever sell her. I would like a hayabusa though or an sp1 or 2.

I was thinking of turbo'ing it :)

I drag raced both turbo and nitroused bikes for 13 years from the early 90's , as for road bikes I've had a few classic Kawasakis (my first love) and a couple of Blackbirds, a x11, a z1000 (the water cooled one) and a few smaller things

Well passed my bike test in 2006 went right for direct access, ive had CBR600f, GSXR 1000ZK4, GSXR 1000K8, GSXR1000K9 and now a Yamaha R1 all bloody good fun apart from the Honda, just didnt like it

Lovely little bikes. I was undecided between this and the RS250 back in the day. The RVF's had a massive premium though so went for the RS. I remember going to a place over Box Hill way who stocked loads of freshly imported RVF's. Such a nice looking machine. SOunds the dogs too.

Turbo for road use in it? I couldn't afford the tyres for such a thing! lol

Amate of mine does

The R1 is just as quick, but seems to handle slightly better than the Gixxers, should really say that working for a Suzuki dealership :smirk:

So we have a contact in the trade in our ranks now? :D

What year is R1, I have only ever ridden an old 2000/2001 wasn't anything on my old K1. Brakes I feel were the big weak point on the gixxers stock.

Try and and get a ride in the new ish one with cross plane cranks! Sounds like a twin goes like buggery,

Worth a look

Should be ringing about my CBT tomorrow once I know what days off I have next week. When you search locally for one the top one that comes up is £95 all in and reviews seem good. Also got the theory disks to practice on and I'm surprised how much I remember and how much common sense it is. I remember worrying a lot about it first time round. The only awkward bit is the Hazard perception. I often click sooner than it's programmed to detect so I get 0 or 1 or two because I've clicked again just in case. A double click seem to work though and it's a bonus that all the roads in the video are all local and half the time I'm going "oh I know where that is!"

Any idea how long it takes to go from CBT to fully passing?

Bikeless for a few years now but had a few.

ZZR600 E2

ZX-6R J1

GSK-R750 K4

ZZR1400 A1

GSX-R750 K6

Loved them all but the ZZR1400 was awesome, absolutely loved it. Bought it brand new, did Germany and the Nurburgring, but then smashed it up at Donington, 7 months old. What a knob
