JB.

There isn't a bad tyre out there nowadays.

The only question is what do others use/suit them.

In all my tyre buying days I have in the end, kept to one make of tyre, that's only cos they suit me.

Avons, for the past 6 years.

Had Conti's, not impressed at all. Mich' don't like. Metzler's ok.

Now running Avon Storm Ultras. Good tyre in the wet as well. Good mileage.

Will certainly go for the Avon's again whatever the new ones will be.

Whatever new tyre you fit, will always be better than the last ones you had on....cos it's new!

CD

Yeah I had Avon Storm ST on my ZZR1400 and I liked them. Even did a track day in the wet on them. However the ZZR is heavy bike and a totally different animal to my FZ6.

I was thinking of trying the Angels because they get good reviews, and I've never tried Pirelli, but was just looking for people's opinions on what they've actually used, other than just listening to the journos who write the tests.

I know all this is largely a matter of personal opinion. Even if everyone said buy Michelin I wouldn't because the PR2's let go on the gixxer too many times and it put me off Michelin. Still, it's nice to get some input.

I would not use anything other than michelin pilot road 3's. Staggering grip in the grease and wet, tons in the dry and great, smooth tip in. Have tried all makes on tyres and I was speechless when I first tried these.

Just picked up a new K1300S which has metzeler equivalents on and whilst they are pretty good for the grunt of the bike as soon as they are junked I'm going to try pilot road 4's. I gather they are even more impressive !!

I've had a few different ones on the SV. I tried the PR3's a while ago, and I haven't changed since.

I'm on my third back tyre and 2nd front.

The front is now a PR4 as it was only £6 more expensive, so I thought I might aswell have the slightly improved one.

I love them. Plenty of grip in all weathers. I don't think I'll have anything different for a good while to be honest.

They aren't cheap, but when it comes tyres, I like to get the best.

Just bought my new baby (even matches my Monte Carlo)

Just the photos from the garage, will add my own when I pick her up (don't think I was this excited when I got my Monte new)

One very careful owner (who looked after her more than his wife)

My first bike was an aprilla RS125 passed my test and bought a Kawasaki zx4R and hated it so bought a CBR 600F crashed that got a 900 fire blade, that got too expensive (was only 22), went back to 600F which I had to sell when I got made redundant but now with 2 kids SWMBO won't let me buy another. :( but I'll get round her at some stage.

I'm back on two wheels!!

Picked up my 2004 Suzuki DR-Z 400 E yesterday, only 3424 miles on the clock! it's a greenlane bike but has spent most of its life garaged unused, hence the mileage.

I paid £1700 for it which is a great price? although she requires mot and tax. (not a problem for me).

Does anyone know anything about DR-Z Enduro edition?

basically its a hardcore version of the road going drz.

The E comes with a much much better carb, more aggressive cam, higher compression, thicker suspension, no rear subframe and minimal electrics.

Although she does have that important electric start!

I know im waffling but im really excited and happy with her and can't wait to give her a good riding!!

Me and the wife gave it a good clean today, the fairings are scuffed but the bike itself is in great condition.  The previous owner spent LOTS on trick bits. Including talon hubs and excel rims. and a full crd exhaust system :)

Anybody doing the Triumph day at a dealer this weekend? Win a bike for 6 months for free, need to enter the competition online on Triumphs website.

I'll be down a Pidcocks trying some bikes out.

I thought about going, but as I've just bought myself one I thought it pointless (would have had a go on a Trophy though)

Missed that one, doubt there is a dealer within 100 miles odd of me though. Did you go yourself?

Well yesterday I had my bike fully serviced and a pair of new tyres fitted. I've got to scrub them in but apart from that she is all ready for the Isle of Man TT in 4 and a half weeks! I'm like a kid at Christmas now, can't wait to ride over and watch the greatest ever road race!

You could come over to the NW200 before the TT and see the same bikes racing each other faster, not a stop watch :D That would surly scrub the tyres in :D I have grandstand seats for NW this year somehow woohoo.......

Still never done the TT :(

New Bike this week..

Jammy git! No one should be allowed a new bike until I get one :(

Brother bikers :)

I'm all but there, passed Mod 2 yesterday with a clean sheet B)

I'm just hunting for a nice Kwacka, but it's harder than you would think.

Fowlers in Bristol won't let me test ride one even with a 100% deposit

so they can stick it.... And now, I've just been to Bath Road Motorcycles

(BMW dealer) to look at the ER6F they have in there with 4 grand burning

a hole in my pocket. It's not quite what I was looking for but close enough

and despite it being overpriced and the older model its only 3 miles away from

home which would have saved me a long journey to go and get one I'm particularly

interested in which is 160 miles away in Bradford.

I pulled up directly outside in my wifes bright yellow car, all the salesmen saw me arrive as I

parked right beside the window where they sit. I walk in, make eye contact, and then located the bike

(Fairly easy, it's bright green....) After 5 minutes stood next to the bike without

so much as a 'Can I help you?' I walked out shaking my head. You can't give it away eh??

You'd think that they would be keen to be rid of what is clearly a part ex but it would seem

that they are doing so well that they don't need the custom.

Their loss!! I'm going to email them with a link to this thread.

If they contacted me now offering 500 quid off and a free set of matching luggage

they wouldn't be getting a penny from me after that.  You have to work for my money...

NO SALE.

You are as bad as me taking the huff with bad service. Looking a second bike at a Suzuki dealers (old school little place locally), as I turned up on my ZZR1400 drowning out the sound of a busa they were showing to someone who more or less walked off from sales man to have a butchers at mine. I was treated like scum and spoken down to. When I asked if they had a ZX9-R among their used stock I was told very rudely, "If you are looking for a Kawasaki you may try somewhere else this is a Suzuki dealers"......... I was not best pleased and fuming to be fair, I said while pointing at random used bikes "Oh that's a nice Suzuki ZX6-R", "That's a nice Suzuki R1 & R6" and "That Suzuki 1150RT is some machine". I had explained I was after another bike, I turned up on a bike which was certainly more than a 49cc scooter with scrapped fairings and an 'L' plate hanging on by one bolt and was certainly not a tyre kicker. How very dare they! Had they played their cards right, I might have been tempted to buy a brand new GSXR750 to keep in NI then use when I moved back and sell ZZR1400 as I always said I could never run it in UK as it was far too much bike for the roads and limits, would have been wasted. Sad small town ignorant backward cultchy mother fu........ers. Never been back in the place since and even though they are only dealers within prob 80 miles and only 1 other bike trader in area, I'd rather walk than give them a penny. I hope they didnt't get a single sale that week and had to live off Tesco Value soup and out of date bread.  :@

Hi to all fellow bikers out there, I wont try to list all the bikes I have owned over the years cause Ive been riding over 50 years! and the list is massive, currently running a1967 Bonneville a 1965 Sports Cub a 2012 650 V Strom and a VanVan and still love riding as much as when I started at13 over the local banks on an old James 197 cc,   I just wish I had some of the bikes Ive owned down the years some of which are now worth Thousands of £s, still hindsight is a wonderfull thing.

They have sent me a nice grovelling email in reply to my rather scathing

(But not at all rude) one. Too little too late I'm afraid....
