Your kitchen? Don't you mean SWMBO's Kitchen ;)

I do 95% of the cooking in our house, she works quite long hours

whereas I don't really have to any more. That makes it my kitchen.

I also tackle the bulk of the washing, shopping and housework as well

as all the maintenance and improvements. Although I do employ a gardener

a few hours every couple of weeks as we have a pretty established and leafy

garden and if I'm honest I bloody hate gardening.

It's not the most conventional setup but it works for us.

To bring the discussion back around to bikes, me and the Mrs were talking about

changes to our fleet. So far the plan is 1 shared car (I choose it)

a bigger van (I choose that also)  a sports bike (I choose that too, CBR600RR is the current fave)

and a bigger tourer (I choose that as well but haven't really given that much thought).

I'd go for a bmw 330d m sport as the car and then a Transporter ;) don't know about the bikes hugely

CBR600RR in my preferred colour scheme.

And maybe a faired Z1000 for touring...

:wonder:

You're reasonable tall arnt you? At 6ft 1 the CBR 600 felt like a minimoto to me, but I am quite fat too.

You're taller than me Matt, I'm a whisker under 6ft but I'm all torso and

short legs. I also have arms about 4 inches longer than is necessary or attractive as well.

Proper odd proportions. Getting well fitting clothes is a sod, that's why I've been such a kit

tart. When I find a set that fits me exactly then I'll flog all the rest off again.

Shame your wife didn't get the tuition she needed on her CBT Grr, 1 on 1 would have been ideal but I suppose it's luck of the draw, maybe book another in when the school's aren't busy?

Nice job on access as well, a biker definitely needs his shed. Although if you buy more bikes you may need more sheds :P

Update: I boughts an Fz6

After a sphincter-tightening 1 mile ride along a freshly laid gravel track not 15 minutes after throwing my leg over I then rode it 60 miles home from camping yesterday and I couldn't stop grinning all the way back.

Reviews said the gearbox was clunky but it's nothing compared to the training bike I was riding.

Awesome fun to ride :D but of course that would be coming from a 125.

Looking at bits to winterise it a bit now - fender extenders, front screen (yes I know they did a faired one  :p ) and paddock stands since it doesn't have a centre stand

Fun times.

Nice bike Ben, I can get 3 in my shed :)

Passed my test on a Fazer but the older type with the side

exhaust. Nice all rounder bike and plenty fast enough to keep you

entertained for a year or two. No need to go stampeding toward a fireblade.

The best device you can fit to a bike to improve performance is a well

practiced rider. You'll know when you're ready for something bigger or more powerful.

Nice colour too :)

I was looking at R1200 BMWs last night.... nice tourer ;)

Agreed!

Iv caught up with a lot bigger bikes in the corners when i had the SV.

Also, very occasionally someone on a not so big bike can really corner. Saw a guy on a 50hp bmw once. Really good in the corners. I could only keep up because of the extra power on the straights.

Ok, just got a go pro hero 3 I've got a 32gb memory card and some extra mounting bits

Anyone got any tips on camera set up (settings)

And also I'm quite keen to have a bike mounted option, looking at one on the front screen, that should be secure enough shouldn't it?

^^^ Lucky sod, I want a camera...

Not going touring without one that's for sure.

Today??? Happy birthday old timer :P You are way way older than me! :o

30!!! Jammy get! Happy birthday to you.

You're about a year younger than my wife, and 11 younger than me.

I'm starting to feel quite old on this thread. :(

I think I've aged okay though.... well maybe not....

I'll check my settings tomorrow and give you the heads up. I set mine for track days in the car but works well on the bike so I've not touched anything. The 3M mounts are strong!

And yes, it's a Logitech Alert system - 720 HD video (clear enough for the police to secure a conviction), very easy to install and operate, remote control and alerting but also stupidly expensive and now discontinued :-(

Looks very good, I suppose you get what you pay for with stuff like this. £50 Ebay China would't be producing such results I am very sure!

I'll find out soon. The Logitech kit worked out at about £350-£400 a camera when it was available +£50 a year subscription (scary to think I've got 9 of them in use).

By way of experiment, I've ordered one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221520269677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 for £38.50 delivered, which is supposedly 1080p. I'll be able to compare the two when it arrives. I suspect that there won't be that much in it to be honest, as the technology moves pretty quickly.

I'll report back!

My mrs hated bikes when we met, then started getting an itch (no not there) to ride pillion. She loved it. We rode all over the UK and Europe for a few years before she got the bug to pass her test and ride for herself.

The training centre tried her on a 500 way before she was ready and she had a proper nasty off at just under 40. Fortunately she landed in the soft stuff and had the best gear on so apart from mega bruises and feeling very scared I took her back a week later , *******ed the instructor and persuaded them both to forget direct access and pass on a 125 and gain confidence and experience over the next 2 years.

Suddenly she rode with loads more confidence, passed first time and 4 months later rode a CBF600, restricted , the naturally de stricted after 2 years.

She now rides a street triple very very well indeed and gets out loads on it.

I think the typical instructor assumes everyone knows how to ride a bike and is strong enough to man handle them around which just isn't the case.

Not sure about the typical instructor, but I'm astonished at how much of a struggle it is for the lad to wheel around the YBR, when to me it's like a toy

Experience and confidence, i guess

I've been around a few training schools and astonished at the variation in training quality. Some brilliant, most ok some shocking.

Man handling a bike with confidence comes with time. Like never throwing your leg over without the bike being on 1 of its stands. !!! We've all been there lol.
