Looking to buy a Yamaha xt660x or tenere shortly for going to work on, has anybody had experience of these? Need to sell my mk2 escort estate first though to free up my garage, my a**e is making buttons to get it though!

I am glad you like it brings back memories of my ZZR600 E7. I was visiting a Kawasaki dealers the other weekend to have a look at the Z1000SX just after I ordered mine in the UK and saw in their collection some awesome bikes inc 2 ZZR600's (OLD ONES) I was shocked at the size of them I remembered it being much bigger so cool to see though. What are you keeping in the glove box its only tiny but its one of the few bikes to have one, I used to keep my little bottle of mukoff visor cleaner in there and a cloth for it.

Ha, the glovebox is silly.. so far it's got nothing in as anything i'd put in there could fit in my pockets!

You can get LOADS under the seat on the ZZR600, in contrast under the seat on my ZZR1400 I can only get a single box of smokes if I empty half box as its too tight and will half crush one edge! So make the most of the ability to get a pair of shoes / disc lock wallet keys and a chain under the seat

I am told me new bike I get on Sat is just as bad :( but it comes with luggage so sod it!

Well its all done now on Saturday I left at 4am your time in the dark and heavy rain woke up the ZZR1400 and hit the road with a tank bag and a backpack on then it turned to very heavy rain! Back wheel was spinning up something shocking, hit Brugge and it cleared dry and sun starting to come out FANTASTIC stretched her legs and had one last proper ride on it to the tunnel 'O' love and up threw England. Once I arrived I had JUST left the tyres legal and I mean just! (that was noted). Took the new one back down to Folkestone in nice sunny weather not too hot and a biker friendly hotel for the night and back this morning again clear blue skies and dry 22Deg C perfect!

Just before I pushed it into the garage I took a few snaps on mobile to share. It looks fairly clean pics can deceive but it has done 450-470 miles ish and looking fine for it all nice dry miles.

It rides very well had never even sat on one before but in the same light while some may think thats not a good way to buy a bike...... Its not but thats just how I do things same with the Octavia. It feels more agile than my old GSXR1000 K1 feels like a approx 150kg bike not 231kg the raised bars are the biggest change as the old ZZR was also a sports tourer felt so small but so smooth and easy to turn. I have supposedly to keep under 4000 rpm to start with for 600 miles but in 6th that was 58mph so nuts to that was not feasible went for 5000rpm instead and varied engine speed and load. I am down from 220bhp to 138bhp but is a lot easier to sit at a reasonable speed on it and the adjustable screen was ace sitting up at 80mph ish on motorway threw France, Belgium and Netherlands on way back. Bad bit was I forgot to recharge ipod and also to turn it off last night so I had NOTHING for entire ride back but helmet karaoke .

ps. SO SO SO glad I didn't got for a versys as at 64bhp I think I would have been very very annoyed this 1043cc unit seems to have plenty to give and did better mpg on way back than way out on ZZR which used 3x 24 litre tanks

NICE ER6-F I was looking at some in the dealers and then hotel owner gave me this weeks MCN and was looking at something about them saying how good they are 80mpg apparently..... That's very respectable! 600 miles! Make sure its been serviced regardless but for mine the initial service is at 600 miles then interval changes 6000 then 12000 I think. But the initial service is rather important. I would personally run bike until 1500 miles then change oil and filter again just to be sure its not got any nasty in it.

Someone in a range rover decided to not see my bright green sparkly bike my full top high vis with reflective panels or the rest of the combination of bike and rider and changed lanes on top of me as passing me luckily I clocked the twit and was able to move out of way. The driver in question in Belgium did see me after I moved and realised their mistake and looked very shocked and waved "sorry".

Thats how I ended up with my GSXR1000 I only went into RobSpeed in Grimsby for a look was really after a ZX9-R and ended up with the Suzuki.

Easily done . Have to confess though still regret being persuaded to chop my XJ550 for an XJ600 on a similar "Just looking" dealer visit . Loved the 550, but never really took to the 600.

It absolutely bounced it down while I was in the shop, bought it for going to work mainly traffic does my head in lately, I will take it steady like you say and change the oil again at 1500 miles. Wife went with me now she wants the equivalent in cash to spend on what she wants, said I'd bung her £500 and think yourself lucky!

Na she's not interested but I kitted myself out with new lid,boots,jacket,gloves and waterproofs as my old kit is 10 years old and a bit funky from storage, plus it wasn't colour coded ha ha!

A mate's got a Tenere (as well as a TDM900 and a GTR1400) and loves it, uses it most days as a commuter plus a bit of light greenlaning and some touring.

Well Fubar, whilst you are enjoying your new ride, I have had to bite the bullet and sell my tiger.

I'm not bitter though, really, enjoy

It has sat in the garage for 2 years now, due to illness, and only done 60 miles going for MOT's

The local triumph dealer took it for cash and I got just about what I wanted for it so on that side of it I'm happy.

I'm not giving up hope of riding again but it'll be a while yet.

A few mates have volunteered pillion seats if I want to go out though

Well I've been trying to figure out where my bike pictures had gone since post #52 back in April, I managed to find a couple of poor quality pics on my old broken PC in the loft, but sadly no vfr pics - I'm a bit gutted tbh these grainy pics are all I've got of my bikes :(

He doesn't. The TDM's got about 110k miles on the clock and is worth peanuts, and the Tenere and GTR between them are probably worth less than my 3 year old Octavia.
