Hi All,

Well I had the Blue Haldex fitted today! Soon as I pulled away from the garage I could tell it was different! Hard to explain but just feel like you need less effort and the car seams to move smoother! It's strange but in a good way!.

Have not had a chance to really try it out but I will this weekend but I did pull out a junction fairly hard and it's like a huge bat has just hit you up the arse! It launched like jet off an aircraft carrier lol!

Looking forward to hitting the strip at Santa pod (gti fest)

Cheers Craig

And thanks to Clive @ cntuning for the Blue Haldex!

Nice car and very well done. The Blue Haldex is a nice bit of kit to have on a 4x4. Your Haldex is from my old car I believe and certainly makes for very quick standstill get aways. Just be careful though as too much action will soon kill your clutch and the standard gearbox is a weak point...

i have a spair 4x4 box and shafts if you wanna buy a spare ??

Yes the gear box is a very weak point :D

If you decide to update to an o2m box make sure you get ALL the other bits as well. When I did mine we spent four weeks chasing parts to get it done

If you are going big power the. Some of the guys have swapped to the diesel 6spd. Nice and strong and longer gearing but the engine needs to be up to the task as well.

sorry to hijack this a little

i have an o2m here just in case i decide to go 6 speed could you pm me the bits you definatly need to check i have all that i need please, got the engine and box as a unit with most bits i think jsut some confirmation as to what you need and what you did would be ace.

cheers

shafts

starter

cables and changer

flywheel and clutch

hydaulic line from master cylinder to box

not sure if i missed anything??

ah so i need cables and changer and the lines to the master cylinder i believe, not too bad then, should be nice and easy to find if needed, wonder how good their clutch's handle 270 hp and whatever lb/ft a stage 2 makes

May not need the cables. I just did the changer on mine but as Clive said, starter, clutch and flywheel, drive shaft/or possible shafts( mine was a 4x4 so one of the shafts was the same iirc). Mine also needed the propshaft front half as the donut to the transfer box is different on the 5spd vs 6spd.

One thing that caught us out was the cable mount, you will need the one from the 6spd and also one of the bolts that goes through the cable mount and into the bell housing is longer so you need to make sure they sent you the mounting bolts as well

sounds good thanks

my engine and box came from a quattro so putting it into a 4x4 i should have the correct parts bar the lines to the master cylinder, i have the shafts, prop, rear diff if needed, gearbox starter clutch and fly i think i have the shifter mech still, all the bolts are there as its 1 unit, ill get a thread going when i get on with it lol

cheers guys

I find mine is more economical as well now as the ratios are a little bit longer. So my argument to SWMBO was that it will eventually be a free mod :D although maybe not for about five to ten years

Wont make much differance but going to try and get the best time possible.

Cheers Craig...

Nice job, not much of a sleeper any more though.

One thing that will help you is getting cold air into the engine. Right now that pod filter you are using is sucking hot air from the engine bay. The factory airbox may actually be better.

Any downsides to the blue haldex controller?

Your right about the air filter, Going to try and get an extention pipe to bring the filter further down into the wing area.

the word downside and Blue haldex controller should never be in the same sentance ha ha.

What a difference this makes to the car, the launch is great and everyone i have had in the car cant belive how quick she moves from a standing start. The car is alot more stable under heavy braking and more so in to a corner and once mid way through the bend start hitting the gas pedal and you can feel the car pushing you out the corner from the rear.

The car seems to sit more level under acceleration aswell.

I have noticed my MPG going down but this is more to do with me driving it harder.

Cant wait to hit the 1/4 mile next sunday.

Craig..

blue haldex simply is the best mod for a 4x4 period !!!

Hi all,

Just got back from GTI Festival (Santa Pod).

Only done 5 runs.

The first run nearly ended in tear when somehow I managed to shift from 2nd straight back into 1st at about 50mph! I thought the gear box was going to explode lol! So run 1 ended with a 16.8793 @ 83mph.

2nd run was 14.9634 @ 91mph.

3rd run was 14.9386 @ 91mph.

Next few runs I gave it a little more beans on the launch.

4th run was my best 14.7514 @ 93mph.

5th run was 14.7650 @ 92mph.

Pleased with the outcome! Did fairly well for an estate car lol!.

Cheers Craig.

Hi All,

O.K i was planning on the next stage of goodies starting after christmas but im bored so...

I have ordered a oem Bosh 4 Bar FPR which should come next week.

I am on the look out for a BAM Fuel rail and injectors, just missed a complete set on ebay.. D'oh.

Also the only standard part of the exhaust left to do was the downpipe, This arrived yesterday.

3" Downpipe and it came with a de-cat section so i will have to modify my current de-cat to suit.

Hi Lewy,

The aim is a nice round 300hp but it will be spring before I can afford the turbo etc.

How's yours coming along pal?

Craig

It's coming along mate. Had a remap a couple of weeks ago, just gave me the desire for more. Ha ha.

Gonna go to stage 2 early next year hopefully. Are you attending any of the north east meets?

Hi All,

Well i dropped the car off this morning to have the new downpipe fitted.... problems.

One of the studs has already been snapped in the turbo where the downpipe mates.

So im just going to wait untill i get my new turbo rather than waisting time taking this one off to get drilled / tapped etc.

Nothing much going to happen now untill Jan/Feb 2013..... D'oh.

Cheers Craig...

Hi All,

My BAM fuel rail and injectors arrived.

IMG_0581.jpg

I have removed the injectors and will send them off to be cleaned and tested before fitting.

Another note the car has started to sqweek when ticking over and i fear it might be the water pump so its going to skoda on thursday for a new t-belt kit and water pump.

Cheers Craig.

Why you fitting bam injectors ???
