I seem to have the same problem that you had. How should you name the folder on the SD card please?

Problem solved, I see you have to put the db3 file in a folder rather than just on its own, so I called my folder PersonalPOI.

Does anybody know how to convert spb file to a db3 file for Personal POI

Unfortunately the link in the linked thread no longer works - has it been moved (if so I can't locate it) or has it been permanently removed?

The Hun went and changed the link. This one works, as of 1 minute ago:

It won't take an spb file though. If you can convert spb to .asc, .gpx or .csv you'd be good to go.

I haven't used a .spb but the info in POI files is in essence just a data table so it might be fairly straightforward to do it yourself in Notepad, or maybe even Excel - depending on how big the file is and what format the data is in.

Edit:Just looked up .spb and it's a Samsung phone book file, which contains your phone contacts. You'd need to somehow get what's in the file down to (say) Name and Lat/Lon for your POI file. Perhaps export it to .vcf (use Kies), then edit the vcf file (try importing it into Excel), save as a .csv, then shove it through POI site. Pain in the neck to do but probably not that bad as a one-off.

Hi

My new Columbus has arrived today. I will need to load my Pocketgps speed camaras on. I understand that I will need some icns to link the data to. Could sombody PM them to me or point me at a source please?

Thanks

Garnett

Garnett,

They are all in the zip file that comes down in the PGPSW data file - unzip file to say desktop and you will see the .asc files and the .bmp files which are the icons. Only download the NAVMAN / MIO (ASC) consolidated by type - this is due to Columbus not being able to have enough user poi catagories for each camera type in each speed zone, works great with consolidated type.

Its a bit of a faf but once you get the hang of it its not too long.

Any queries come back

Maybe unneeded, but I always POIplaza (download as Garmin GPX file),and then use POIInspect0r to build a .db3 file

This works a treat on my Columbus, and POIplaza seems to be updated regularly. There are other sites out there with databases, but they either charge a fee or use old databases.
