  • Some night shots: and some not that fancy day shots to give you a better idea of how it looks. Overall it took us a while to install the mesh and to properly align the bonnet

  • I think it looks terrible, you should immediately stick it back in the box and send it over to me!

As the holes are on top of all the electrics it could be a problem, going through the front all the radiator stuff eeps water back, the rally car needs the venting for heat loss and surely the rally team must have thought of this issue and put something in place, however c'mon 32k get it sprayed and looking sweet ;)

I'm working on it, I'm working on it ;) as for the vents they are actually away from any electronics - just so I can illustrate here is a pic with roughly were the vents sit on (not my engine bay by the way but the same layout/engine etc).

Only issue might be the battery on the left side BUT we are planning on using the left side vent to bring in air as it seems the coolest area in the engine bay. Plus the battery can be fitted with a cover

We thought that the current setup bringing air from the front was good but it is too close to the engine and the heat shield below. Too hot, especially during the summer.

Should look great when its painted & on the car :)

My scoob had clip on covers for its vents. Take them off for a hot day or clip them on for cold wet days and parking up. Bit of a faff tho.

Just a small update. The bonnet is at the paint shop. It has been sanded down, holes and other minor defects have been filled up and it is awaiting a nice fresh coat of Black Magic Pearl.

Today I also received the aluminum mesh from "CarBodyDesign" http://stores.ebay.com/carbodydesign-eu/ALUMINIUM-MESH-/_i.html?_fsub=1671444010&_sid=1009037200&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 They got a great collection of powder coated black and aluminum meshes. Bought 2 got a 3rd one for free. Went for the smaller diamond mesh which is 3mmx5mm and the 3rd free piece I chose 4mmx6.5mm just in case (you never know). Great service too with UPS delivery. Highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning. B)

Very nice. You always do things that look very good. B)

A little surprised it's only 2kg lighter though being a racing item. No carbon fibre?

Thanks Boss :) No, no carbon fiber just thinner sheets of metal. We measured it. Who knows why such a decision but I bet it will have something to do with rally rules.

I'm not going to say im jelous.

I'm just going to sit in the corner and cry instead because I dont have one too

   thanks man :)

awsome 32k your car gets better and better, still probably one of the best looking mark II's on here :)

Mano, If I may ask, how much - more or less - have you spent on the car after it left the dealer to get to its current state? I have wondered quite a few times... Of course you've put a lot of personal free time as well but I'm talking just for the bills! PM's are always welcome...
