SuperSkoda lower grill winter cover

The Plumber

Recommended Posts

Well it's arrived.and it was very well packaged.

It is actually held in place inside a wooden frame (the frame is screwed together!) with velcro straps passing through the box to hold it all in place.

Being me I had to take it to bits! It is a piece of fine aluminium mesh inside a rubber gasket, with plastic tags glued onto it.

Prior to fitting I hoovered out rather a lot of dead leaves

Fitting it was easy but you need to be carefull with the plastic lugs as they have a mind of their own

To me the JAMES1 option is by far the best way to get one of these, and with his manufacturing supplier they may even be able to produce a more robust version with a choice of grilles. Small mesh for the summer or a blanked off version for winter, maybe even an adjustable version like a plastic ventilation grille.

But if James has a problem getting supplies I wouldl be more than happy to explain what to do. I have no connection or interests with the supplier and you can deal with them directly. By using Western Union I did not have to give any bank or credit card details to anyone so it was fairly low risk.

Well that's one rather enjoyable challenge out of the way bring on the next!

Thanks for the pictures and explanation.

What was the final cost? I think I missed that bit.

The cost of dealing direct without any bulk discount was 1700 rubels for the grill and 950 postage. With the £5.90 Western Union fee after conversion it was £60.36. If James1 is correct with his 650 rubels price his works out as a bargain. Even the price I paid is better than a hole in the rad.

Hy!

I do not understand. Please, can you tell me where did you buy it?

Hi If you look at post No8 there is a video from youtube showing the grille. I decided to volunteer as guinea pig and tracked them down and bought one direct fromRussia. In post 122 James1 is suggesting a group buy at a reduced price. If they post to England I am sure they will do so to Rumania, they did not respond until I started sending emails in English and Russian. Here is their email address if you want to try [email protected]

I have website and email addresses, are we all having black to keep it simple?

On the website the price is 1700 what evers and that if it is rubels will be about £34 before shipping.

If we are successful with my comrades and they can buy and ship, what would be the best way to collect the cash? Bank transfer maybe on a PM type basis? I will have to pay them for the item and the shipping to the UK upfront, then we have the hurdle of delivering to the individual here in the UK, maybe organise a Yeti meet? Or add extra shipping charge from me to you?

I will keep an open mind until I have been to Stuttgart to see how we will work this one, I am sure if the Americans can get a shuttle into space we can get some bits of mesh from Russia to the UK

Perhaps we should organise some sort of relay - and a contribution towards the fuel costs for each persons leg of such.

I am adding my location (county) - I suspect I would be at the end of the line in my direction, but I could meet someone who was closer to the point of import perhaps

I could easily intercept that route from St Albans. The price Hood paid is within range so any less would be fine. I favour paypal as a means of exchange -do you have an account? Internet banking is one more set of passwords beyond my capacity!

I will take the box to the post office tomorrow and see how much it would cost to post. With the cost of deisel it may be better to pay James to post it to you.

My Hermies would do it for £4.19 inc vat standard delivery or with signed for at £5.21. Taht is for a 1.5 kg box 86x17x6 cm.

Me too... but i live in Romania...

I have sent you a PM with how to get one.One slight problem though, the Briskoda PM system does not seem to be able to cope with Russian and replaced that part with question marks. But you should be able to get round it with either Bing or Google translator
