Odd everyone so far who has had a Blackline delivered has needed the BT enabled and the mic fitted. Maybe your dealer saw this thread and did it as good will gesture?

dealer ..... did it as good will gesture?

Doubt it, they're called stealers for a reason

Make sure you can actually be heard tho. AFAIK there is no mic installed in the Blackline model.

Ah, that must bit the bit of info I missed, mine isn't a blackline.

Sorry. SE+ with Amundsen+

There you go then....Blackline came with that HU but no mic or BT enabled. Hence this thread.

Yep, interestingly enough does your car have a lump at the front under the drivers seat?

I will check this out tomorrow and let you know, any idea where the mic might be ?

apparently it is very clear.

The mic is clipped in the overhead map light (look at the first page of this thread you will see where its clipped in). The reason I ask about the lump is I wonder if Skoda enabled the BT on the headunit or installed the GSM prep (hidden under drivers seat).

When I opened the link for the mic it quoted

"Suitable for vehicles until 2011 model year, Not suitable for vehicles from 2012 model year, For vehicles from 2012 model year the 7P6035730 or similar hands free system needs to be used"

Is it still compatible or do I need to order the one it suggests.

Also, is there anyone in N.E. Scotland who could enable the BT for me? or how easy is it to do yourself?

Thanks

Order the one in my link, me and many others have ordered with no issues.

One thing that was a pain was the cable/plug for the on/off airbag switch inside the glovebox. Got it off easy enough but putting it back was a nightmare. Ended up unscrewing the switch then sliding it back ontop of the plug when i situ. then angling the whole glovebox down slightly to gain access to the screws and secure switch back.

Thanks to the very clear instructions on here from welsh-kai-boy, it's very much appreciated. Also, thanks to anddenton yesterday for enabling my Bluetooth on my Amundsen+ using his VCDS. My HTC phone pairs wonderfully with it. On Friday, I ordered the recommended microphone listed on here, so look forward to fitting that when it comes.

A couple of questions for those who have done it:

1. A lot of you have advised having problems with reconnecting the airbag switch when re-assembling. Therefore, is it possible to drop the glovebox down far enough to route the microphone cable behind it without having to disconnect the airbag switch in the first place? I was thinking maybe of putting something in the footwell for the glovebox to rest on so that it comes down far enough without straining the airbag switch cable - or is the airbag switch cable not long enough for me to do that?

2. Have any of you installed a cradle for your phone at the same time so the cradle clips in to the left of the Amundsen+ and if you did have you also found a +12V wire behind the unit to use as a permanent connection for the cradle for charging the phone instead of having to use the cigarette lighter?

In answer to question 1 - I dropped the glovebox down slightly but did not remove it. The wiring loom/cable will feed across quite easily and you do not have to disconnect any other pipes/wires etc. Tbh, if I'd had an old wire coathanger to hand I wouldn't have done anything with the glovebox at all as it would have been possible to fish the cable across from the end of the dash to the centre console area.

Questions 2 - I didn't bother with a cradle as I just lay my handset in the drinks holder in the centre console or (if that has anything in it) it'll go in the box under the centre arm rest. If I need to charge it at anytime I'll plug in the car charger from the 12v socket - I don't need it to power the Sat Nav anymore!

Thanks Chappers,

I may try the coathanger route first then, I'll let everyone know how that goes

I didn't disconnect mine just rested it so not to strain the cable.

I know there are some live connections in the fuse box as I used one on my last VRs to power the parrot (sorry this was keylive).

The other easy way is to undo the two torx screws holding the switch in place, drop the connector through the hole and connect up and then screw the switch back in.

Thats what i eventually did...

Okay so this is not to do with the installation of the Bluetooth as such, but does anyone know why my HTC Sensation will not sync it's phone book properly? All the names appear on screen but without any numbers etc. I've spent most of the day trying to figure this out now and I'm starting to lose my patience (can you tell that electronics/modern computery things aren't my strongest points - I still think that Bluetooth & wireless are witchcraft).

It will make calls is I manually dial the number, answer & stream music through bluetooth fine

Its worth checking your HTC is up to date with all the software update and try again.

I've already done that - still not working :wall:

Fitted mine cable on Saturday. Only issue is had was dropping the glove box. Missed a screw. I counted 5 but there was a 6th. I reckon one of the 5 I took out was not required.....

I too just dropped the glove box and if you remove the end trim and have another pair of hands helping at that point it is easy to feed the cable by hand without using the coat hanger technique.

Getting Bluetooth unlocked later today.

I asked the dealer I bought the car from if they can enable the BT and install the mic. he has just phoned to say it is not compatible in the limited edition and should have been ordered at manufacture. Is he talking Boll!"#¤

My car is Octavia vRS Blackline limited edition 2012. I have already ordered the mic. I have also asked my local Audi VW dealer if he can install it. Waiting on a reply.

I have fitted one myself to a blackline and yes it works.

But as said a million times a dealer may not be able to code it with their equipment. I've yet to try at work.

Also you can't order from factory on a Blackline so shows what they know.

Following this thread with great interest. I picked up a blackline DSG a couple of weeks ago. Dealer offered me a parrot kit which I declined. Took the car to a local independent VAG specialist, he made a note of the head unit serial number and asked me to call him back this week. I told him of this thread. I am willing to order and fit the mike myself, if necessary. Will update when I hear something.,

I had my Bluetooth enabled last night. Just need to take the plunge and order a mic.
