Clicking/Ticking noise from front console 2.0TFSI VRS

Featured Replies

My guess is its coming from the climate control but i could be wrong? Does anyone know what the noise could be.

I turn on the ignition and basically for a few seconds i gett a clicking sound and then stops. Like a relay noise but

also sounds like it could be the SATNAV / CD player stuttering while loading the disc. Any ideas?

Is it a quiet clicking like lots of relays?

If so it's the climate. Don't know how old your car is but there was supposed to be a software upgrade to help with this ~4yr ago. Didn't make any difference on my car still does it occasionally.

There is also a method to do a reset on the climate system but you'll need to search for that.

Yeah its not a loud clicking it sounds like a flap adjusting inside the blowers and the sound apears to come from the centre console. more of a tapping / flapping noise than a ticking. I have noticed that the heaters arn't as quick anymore at clearing the mist from the windows front and the back window take ages on my old vrs. Both get warm eventually though.

If its just a noise and not a problem i will just put up with it as its not that bad just doesn'y do it on the newer blackline.

Whats the benefit of the reset on the climate system. My wifes had the car mainly since 2006 and she has just ignored the noise or pretending she never heard it. However its bugging me a little now its my daily commuter

Allegedly the reset can sort out that clicking noise since it get the flaps to realign or something like that. I've never actually bothered to do it. I can only hear that noise if I'm sitting idling which is rare.

Ive reset mine several time its useless.

I have something like this from passenger side area of the central console. I though initially it was a wire vibrating where I fitted my bluetooth. Now I've read this I'm thinking it might just be the car itself. When I run a vcds scan I can hear it a fair bit.

Can't hear it when radio is on so I'm waiting till the nicer weather to take the dash apart again to have a look.

Also developed a rattle that I believe is the ticket holder after much deduction - is this common?

My 2005 has done it ever since I had it. Just assumed it was something to do with the climate keeping itself in check. I've noticed the louder the stereo, the less I hear it though!

More annoying is the iffy rear windscreen wiper. As soon as the weather picks up, I'll be out there trying to sort that one out.

I have the same ' ticking' noise on my vrs, sounds like it's coming from behind passenger/centre dashboard. I know my climate system has a fault of some sort as I've had it re-gassed twice and it won't blow really cold. So going to have find the leak before having it re-gassed but don't know if this will also cure the ticking noise. .

Ive noticed i get a "clicking" noise coming from down and right of the steering wheel when i use the buttons for the heated screens etc, im assuming theres a fuse box down there full of relays?
