On a more serious note....

Should there actually be anyone from the giddy heights of Skoda UK looking in, its about bloody time you sorted out your attitude to modifications, particularly chipping / re-mapping. There's plenty of reputable outfits doing it now (JabbaSport to name but one)...how about some sort of approval for them ?

Its about time the warranty / chipping saga was cleared up, bearing in mind there seems to be dealers turning a blind eye, and at least 1 dealer openly selling re-maps from their own premises !!!

i doubt any mfr will come out and support mods/things too much but some sort of approved scheme using appropriate tuners would help.. like bmw does with schnitzer/jon cooper or merc with amg/brabus.. would move skoda brand up as well or is this the real problem...as it would take them past vw/audi/seat???

need someone in charge who's heart is green and duck shaped....:D

Could someone please PM the name of the dealer in questions.

1. No I don't work for Skoda

2. Have no intention of

3. Only drive one

4. Need modifying el pronto

Hope that clears that up

I understand that Audi are quite mod-friendly, and that Seat are heading that way, attempting to build up motorsport credentials.

Audi allways have been mod friendly, however it's more of a blind eye thing than "Official".They have just started pronoting ABT products very heavily - but there are some stupid rules - i.e we recently fully kitted a white TT(I know it sounds strange but it looked great)with full bodykit, wheels etc.

When it sold the customer asked if it could have the ABT chip -- NO was the very precise and un-helpfull answer from Audi(UK).

Likewise we just kitted an A41.8T 190BHPq with £3,000 worth of bodykit, which is designed to have 2 twin outlet exhausts rather than 2 single outlet -- were we allowed to fit this exhaust to complete the package - NO.

Both owners will be making a trip to ABT to get this rectified - the A4 at no risk - but the TT potentially is taking a risk if their is a failure.

I heard recently of an S3 owner having to pay for 2 engines - 1st was replaced at Audi's cost under warranty - due to bent conrods - however when the second failure occurred - alarm bells rang and Audi sent full technical team to check vehicle - found it had been chipped and refused original and second claim -- whilst dealers usually can't tell they have been chipped - the manufacterers certainly can.

Having said that we recently had an RS6 in that blew its motor due to dropping a valve, car had been chipped and zuast replaced - we told Audi - they said replace engine - no problem - £18,500 later the customer(very happy & relieved) got his car back.

I think it would be very difficult for a Skoda et all to refuse a warranty claim on a part thats nothing to do with the mod - however it may be different story on items with heavier load after mod, personally I am happy to take that chance - I know overall the reliability of these engines is great,as long as care is taken and the mods not too big - there should be no problem

Here in Holland Audi salesmen practically shove ABT's performance mods down the customers' throats!

Do I sense a word starting with "com" and ending with "mission" there? :D

How does this "heavy promotion" work at your end, Dave? Are dealers receiving any commission on ABT sales? What is Audi UK gaining from it? Do you have to co-fund a claim insurance or is this purely the importer's task?

any body like to pm the dealer in question

1. i do work for skoda ( a franchise anyway)

2. i don't drive one

3. i am very curious

4. i don't kiss and tell.

5. or the hammer gets it

Oi! I asked first so you guys (and gals; keeping it pc) can just form an orderly queue after me.;)

When Audi first announced they were going to approve ABT accessories(bodykits etc) it was a case of ABT will be in touch.........

Then couple of month's ago we get phone call - in July you will be having an ABT open weekend,ABT will provide bonafide DTM TT race car(Very SEXY),display stand, brochures etc - YOU will supply at least 3 fully kitted Audi's - kit's supplied at cost(Still Fing expensive).

We currently have :-

1 x A4 1.8Tq190BHP - with full kit & 18" Alloys-SOLD

1 x TT 225 Coupe - Full Body kit - SOLD

1 x A4 Convertible - Wheels & Chrome kit.

1 x TT 225 Coupe - Full Body Kit.

We have never had issue with modded cars - so far have had 4 or 5 with issues - I think Audi take the line that if mods are announced upfront & are done by "Known" tuners - there is not a problem, were someone tries to hide it or blatantly lies about it - then they won't want to know,.

Apparantly Audi(UK) are trying to get clarification from Audi - they are a bit two faced - in Germany you can by performance mods direct from them under the quattro GMBH label & also ABT & MTM are approved tuners - however UK official line at the moment is NO,.

Put it in as a staff suggestion (do Skoda UK have a staff suggestion scheme?). As long as we get the mods approved by Skoda, we'll be more than happy for you to keep the rewards from the staff suggestion scheme.

PS - welcome to Briskoda.

PPS - Interesting username. If it's not a rude question - why did you choose it? :)

Awesome! Any chance of a video or a sound clip of your hooligan engine noise? :)

Flarenut,

the K&N filters are heavily oiled coated. The oil gets sucked into the MAF and will damage it . Expensive to replace; can't remember how much but do a search on the forum as the cost has been posted.

For the discount you have to mention that your a Briskoda member and ask about it.

Just organised another group remap with a 10% discount. I see that at least 3 people have booked remaps without wanting a discount. Oh well...........

At least it's a good indicator of interest and bodes well for those waiting for their warranties to expire.;)

Why am I LadyLoki- well... where to begin? Loki's been my nickname for a while now, bestowd upon me by an ex-work colleague a few years back (due to chaotic state of my desk and urge to create mischief wherever I go) :D

Lady... well, it's 'cos I'm a girl, innit?

BTW- we don't recommend chipping simply because there are cowboy outfits out there who have ruined the Engine Management systems on several £15k+ cars, and the driver *always* comes back to us wanting compensation for it.

I'm curious to see which dealer is happy to do it, mainly so I am aware what's involved when they do it, and therefore give you guys a better service when you call in asking Technical questions!

See, we do care about you... text2schild.php?text=Mwah!&typ=2&col=0,0,0&shcol=255,255,255
