No, I just got the free trial this past month because we were buying so many Christmas presents. It lets you send to a Collect point for free which I prefer to do for expensive / important things rather than ending up at one of many neighbours / in the garage/ in the wheely bin / left out in the rain when we're not home

I got a result on the fake memory cards - raised a return with Ebay just to annoy the seller after they tried to blackmail me to change feedback in exchange for a partial refund. They asked for photos

  • Can you actually see where you are going?!?!?!

  • OK, so if you remember, I ordered a cheap 720p dashcam from China, I saw several reviews that praised its video clarity, even at night, and with GPS included for £31 I couldnt really go wrong. Sadly,

Same as us then.

One courier firm (you can probably guess who) have put stuff in the food caddy next to the door when full if food the day before bin day.

If the Mrs hadn't put something in at the last minute it'd be compost by now. At least the company I ordered from were as impressed as me, and sent me replacements by another courier.

Amazon got some of the Nextbase ones back in stock at the lower price, and seeing as it won a "Which" award I decided it would be safe enough to go for it.

I'll be happy to report back here as to whether it's any good or to be avoided.

I've had a Nextbase 402g for several months now. How it ever got a WHICH? best buy I don't know!!!

Supposed to be HD but never is (upscaled 720 IMHO). I am now on my 3rd replacement. All have the same problems.

1) Battery life can calculated in seconds. Doesn't even give you a chance to set-up, format card etc outside of car.

2) Focus seems to be set at about 25-30ft in front of the car. Infinity shots are definitely out of focus.

3) Its high profile & ugly suction mount make a discreet installation impossible. (It won't fit behind interior mirror)

4) It is outperformed by my Eprance 0803. Pics (on the 0803)are far better definition & night shots are amazing. My Nextbase has now been relegated to the rear & the Eprance is upfront.

For the money the 0803 offers amazing picture quality. Looking now to buy an 0805 & put the Nextbase on Ebay.

I'd heard the same complaints about the mounting and the internal battery in a small number of reviews, but they were outweighed by the number of positive reviews on both Amazon and Halfords sites. I tend to trust Which as well, so I'm keen to find out.

As stated previously, I'm on my 3rd replacement, & still not happy. You cannot read a number plate if it is more than 25ft (8m) in front of you (Compare that with my E-prance 0803 & you can read a number plate at  25yards(10m) - that's 3 times the distance!!

NEXTBASE customer support are very efficient & very sympathetic & arrange a replacement quickly, but I can't help but think they're all the same.

Mine is going on Ebay in the new year at a "buy it now" price of £50. It's only 5 months old, still boxed with all leads, instructions etc. So if you still need convincing, & you want a bargain .........

PS I'll post some footage from the NEXTBASE & the E-Prance 0803 later,  when I can sort out how. You can then see for yourself

sorry - i guess I didn't say it explicitly - I've already ordered it.

I currently like the look of these 3, just waiting for them to be released and final prices etc:

1 Panorama x1 remote lenshttps://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/panorama-x1-remote-lens-sony-exmor-imx322-wdr-gps.8500/

2 Street guardian SG7LA50G https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/sg7la50g.7555/

3 mini 0806 https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/hands-on-mini-0806-ambarella-a7la50-dash-camera.8427/

If anyone has got one of the above on order, I'd be interested to hear what they think when it turns up.

Well I've ordered an A118 so we'll see how it goes :)

Looks good for the money. . That's not a woman. ..it's a Zombie. !

Does the GPS attachment just do logging or can it add speed to the recorded image?

Does the GPS attachment just do logging or can it add speed to the recorded image?

If it does, I haven't found the option yet.

It's embedded into the file so when loaded into registrator viewer it shows speed and a map with the journey.

I cannot find any setting anywhere relating to speed stamping the video.

Also, the date doesn't seem to want to change to 2015, which is apparently a firmware bug.

Here's some night time test footage. Completely unlit road moving into street lit area.

It sounds like you were driving a lift :D

That's pretty decent, and I like the form factor. Tempted.

Yep the form factor is what really works for me as it's completely hidden behind my rear view mirror. The only problem is I've mounted it too close to the mirror mounting, so I have to unclip it to take the microSD card out.

Looks good with other bits and bobs illuminated too.

Hmm $130 locally without the GPS or $98 with the GPS and free delivery from China. :D

I have just ordered a micro sd extension cable so I can get the card out without having to move my mirror or the unit :)
