In Car Cameras

Featured Replies

Had my car reversed into whilst I was sitting in  it parked with the engine switched off, they admitted fault, then lied later saying I was reversing, its made my blood boil so I want to camera up the car with prosecution quality camera/s as the chances are the car will be hit again (5 times in less than a year already).  A bit of a minefield to me, would prefer all round protection or as a mi nimum front and back. Would be handy if they are easily removable to bolt on to my kitcar for track days etc.

What are my options, money wise, prefer to pay for quality, though don't want my pants pulled down.

Look at Techmoan's website. He's reviewed lots of different dashcams, of varying price, quality and spec.

I got a result on the fake memory cards - raised a return with Ebay just to annoy the seller after they tried to blackmail me to change feedback in exchange for a partial refund. They asked for photos

  • Can you actually see where you are going?!?!?!

  • OK, so if you remember, I ordered a cheap 720p dashcam from China, I saw several reviews that praised its video clarity, even at night, and with GPS included for £31 I couldnt really go wrong. Sadly,

i use either my go pro hero 2 or hero 3+ on my dash. just aswell i did as had no witnesses stop after the accident in the video, plus it proves 100% it was other drivers fault jumping a red, and then cutting into my lane. I cant stress enough how spending this small amount of money will save the ball ache. Hire car arrived next day, price of write off given to me in a week, no long case of pushing for someone to admit liability. save your ass, and your time. Most people complain about car accidents causing so many issues and stress, especially if they arent your fault. My experience so far has been no issue what so over, i was mobile within a day, and dont have to worry about anything as the video is proof that I had no part to play in the accident :)

And for all those saying I could have stopped, im a crap driver for not seeing her ETC, when i checked she wasnt there, then as she went throught red she was in my blind spot, and i was concentrating on the car infront as they seemed unsure of what they were doing.

A vital bit of info to add   Keyboard warriors can miss the fact that while something can be seen and could be reacted too, you can't look everywhere and see and react to everything at once. I hope it all gets sorted swiftly as it seems to be. Perhaps a rear facing camera in the next car also to cover more?

yeah will just run 2 go pro. All is moving along fine, upgrading to an octy vrs. swings and roundabouts really

I'm impressed the air didn't turn blue! The other driver is clearly in the wrong and this shows once again how useful these can be if you are unfortunate to have an accident that wasn't your fault. Luckily no one was hurt, but had they been it would also have saved you loads of stress if the police had been involved. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Just got to wait until Nov 11th before I can insure the vrs, in the mean time got a lovely hire car :). It paid for itself this camera as she thought she was in the right, and with no witnesses it would have been a 50/50 claim at best, without the footage :D

You're not wrong there. She was obviously used to spouting the usual mix of denial and bu115hit, which the camera cuts straight through. I was convinced to get one after seeing the antics of some drivers in the early hours when I picked the kids up from work-running red lights on cross roads was quite common and I thought the same as you 'how would I prove it was them that jumped the lights' answer a dashcam!

I think i would like the one with the GPS just for the toy factor, had a quick look at the r350 and it looks smart nice and tidy as well.

I might just invest in the DR750LW HD 2CH < you get front and rear in the it and the quality is amazing.

After filling my iPhone up I'm looking for a reasonable cam for reasonable money (can't justify a Blackvue sadly).

Been looking at G1W, Mini 0801 and b40 but very mixed reviews. Any input or suggestions?

0803 mini over the 0801.

I'm waiting for the 0806/0803 pro myself due anytime

Today I got a little worried about the heat kicking out of my Blackvue as I looked at the condensation on the car when I woke up...   :S

Yikes.

Who needs a heated front screen, just buy a blackvue instead!

might be a feature so that when it steams up the camera still has clear view :D

I was similarly worried about the amount of heat kicking out of my BlackVue.

But BlackVue's product specification lists operating temperature as -20C to +60C

Do you have any example footage of those?

Also I'm confused.... in the listing title, it says Full HD 1080P, yet in the listing description it says:

4.Video Resolution:

--1280 x 720(720P)  --640 x 480(VGA)

So if I've got £150 of Amazon vouchers to spend and want to buy a dashcam, which would people recommend ?

is the Blackvue DR500GW now an "old" model ?

does anyone have experience of Blaupunkt ? (even though this one has no GPS sensor for recording speed ? but much cheaper)

what about "Halfords-favourite" Nextbase, which is also available on Amazon ?

I saw this got good reviews and was about to buy it directly from amazon for 130 (same as halfords) but suddenly it went out of stock and this was the next "prime - eligible" one, for a higher price - still worth it ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nextbase-InCarCam-Professional-Video-Recorder-Black/dp/B00D8YP50A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418830474&sr=8-2&keywords=nextbase+402g

Thanks. Was hoping to get something sooner before Christmas journeys and my Prime trial expires

Have you found prime worthwhile?

Been a bit of a let down for me beyond free next day delivery. Hardly any films I haven't seen are on prime instant video unless you pay for them
