And after all that work I still haven't got the road speed limit displayed in the top left hand corner and the option to display speed limits isn't on my menu. I must have very early firmware fitted.......I wonder if I can reject the car lol :)

I see this sat nav is a real pain...

Unlikely! But you could always ask for a firmware upgrade

I have updated 2 of the 3 cars in our company. takes about 2 hours to download the file then 10 mins to copy the new files to the SD card.

Depends on your BB speed I guess but it is a simple process.

You don't have to sit and look at the computer screen when its downloading.........

Will the columbus need the update too? 12GB is a lot to download........

I actually said sorry to an inanimate object today...........when I I apologised to my car when the Eco display told me to pay attention to the gear selection advice !!!!

I keep getting told off for putting my foot on the clutch when the revs are above 1300rpm and while braking!! :notme:

Yeah it's told me off for this too! which proves that coasting in neutral isn't as fuel efficient as leaving it in gear

Actually is there a definitive answer to this - coasting down a hill in gear or in neutral? I still feel neutral at lower revs must use less fuel.

Netral is the most dangerous thing you can do while driving. It is forbidden by law in Romania but a lot of people are using thid system hoping to save fuel, but this is not true. Also my godfather took a fine driving this way in Boulgaria on the highway. He accelerates to 140 km/h an then he leaves the car in neutral to brake on itself. But that day cops were waiting with the radar on an his speed in a tunnel was at 120km/h (from 140km/h) instead of 80km/h. So he got a stupid fine.

Also breaking while in a gear whatever the gear is, reduces breaking timings so again a security reason for not going in neutral mode.

I think on overrun the fuel stops injecting into the engines cylinders thus saving fuel compared to letting idle while coasting. Well that's my understanding of it!!

That's my understanding too. (I am not an engineer!).

I suppose it might cancel out in some situations because you would lose more speed with engine braking, and therefore have to use more fuel to get back up to a desired speed.

It's nice to see the Octy 3 forum appears to have far more international members than other briskoda forums I've been on.

Just got the clearance through from SUK for the Octavia's paintwork to be rectified, it goes in on the 1st July for 3 to 4 days!

I've been driving around in ECO mode for weeks as I can't see any negatives to driving in normal, overtaking in ECO mode is fine. I keep meaning to try sport mode, but have become addicted to getting the average mpg readout as high as possible, got as high as 60 mpg on the 23 mile A road commute to work.

You want to beat a record?

Good news!! The sign of a good company is how they deal with problems. Skoda seem to be there with the best of them - as JD Power and Which? surveys constantly prove. :sun:
