Octy III Briskodian No 007, Race Blue, Golus, plus a few toys...

Featured Replies

I've noticed a sudden increase in mpg, Got 61.8 across a tank a week or so ago. Only averaging 51mpg over 8000 miles since mid October, but if you look at my fuelly profile there has been a definite dip through winter. Similar mileage on mine as yours, going in for it's second service on Monday.

  • Here are a few more pics of the interior as requested, also couldn't resist giving it a quick swill (just a wash'n'wax and spray on demon shine to finish off, oh and I put some rim wax on the alloys )

  • Tried the Eco mode this morning and it managed 58mpg with a clear 22m run on the motorway at a steady legal limit speed plus a mix of 6m country lanes and 8m across Nottm via the ring road. Stop star

  • I settled the VAG finance today with cheaper funds borrowed on my mortgage. It cost me £9.48 for 6 days accrued interest since signing the finance papers, no cancellation fees for withdrawing within

I can't quite get a handle on the winter/summer fuel switch over, I was expecting that I'd be able to see it from the fuelly usage charts but I just can't, the economy in my Rapid is basically up and down like a yoyo* from 50-57mpg, admittedly sometimes with varying journeys or long motorway trips which I make an effort to 'note' purely for my own reference.

*up and down like a yoyo, but still never returning less than 50mpg brim to brim, which I'm very happy about.

I don't think you will be affected by the winter fuel thingy as it is diesel that is altered in winter months, yours is a petrol but you will be affected by cold starts impacting on mpg, eg when de-icing assuming you are running the engine, plus warm up cycle taking longer which uses a richer fuel mix until the engine is up to temp.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Octy, happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Octy, happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday indeed to your car!! One week to go for mine, took it in yesterday for its first service at 18,500 miles, no issues at all. A week to go until mine has it's first birthday - the year's gone quickly!!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Octy, happy birthday to you!

Mine is approaching 14 months old now, and I forgot it's birthday!!

Wondered why it seemed to be sulking of late.

Picked up my new toy yesterday, a Cube Aim SL 29er, but managed to dent/scratch my tailgate trying to get it on the bike rack, doh! Only small scratch but defo dented, have sent email to Chips Away for a quote, but concerned its often pot luck with these smart repair guys, can anyone recommend a dent repair specialist in the Sheff/Rotherham/Worksop area?

I know a quality bodyshop in Chesterfield if that helps??

They aren't as expensive as people think and do a quality job.

Cheers for that, will defo get a quote, as they only about 2 mins drive from the Chips Away franchise that called me back earlier, and have arranged to pop in for a quote next week so may as well do a drive by shooting at the other place too!

30,000 mile service done today so no more free servicing for me, switched to a service plan covering next three services on variable/extended interval so hopefully will get the full 18,700 miles that the computer is now showing before the next one is due.

Reported a bit of a potential issue with the gearbox or clutch which occurs on start up, even with the clutch depressed, I've been getting a clunk and what seems to be a gear not disengaging fully until the engine fires, then the clunk seems to be the gear being forced back into neutral, but it only happens once or twice a week and of course the dealer could not replicate it, and computer said no!

My 30k will be due in a couple of weeks, or rather the almost 28k service will be!

Interesting that we have pretty much the same spec CR150 on 18's Elegances with winter packs and your manual is averaging about 5mpg more than my DSG. Admittedly mine is calculated over about 18k, but even so a pretty good comparison between manual and DSG over a decent mileage.
