  • Here are a few more pics of the interior as requested, also couldn't resist giving it a quick swill (just a wash'n'wax and spray on demon shine to finish off, oh and I put some rim wax on the alloys )

  • Tried the Eco mode this morning and it managed 58mpg with a clear 22m run on the motorway at a steady legal limit speed plus a mix of 6m country lanes and 8m across Nottm via the ring road. Stop star

  • I settled the VAG finance today with cheaper funds borrowed on my mortgage. It cost me £9.48 for 6 days accrued interest since signing the finance papers, no cancellation fees for withdrawing within

If you inadvertently spin a wheel you can get a TPMS alarm - like most VW and BMW, Skoda use a system that monitors and compares the rotational speed of each wheel. A deflated tyre has a smaller circumference so rotates faster than the others setting off the warning.

No alarm on the way home so must have been a freak occurance!

Called into the dealers today and yes got my free boot. Also not complaining I didn't get the red ones.

I also have got mine. quite good how they have a few different clippy points.

useful for dogging sessions if you have a "friend" who likes being trussed up in fishnets and chucked in a car boot to keep warm whilst waiting his/her turn.

I would imagine........

Interesting!!  I thought this was only a car porn forum? :giggle:

My imagination gone wild picturing your ideas

Congratulation.. :) Still over 3 months until I get mine..

You and me both, brother... The estate version is selling like hotcakes here in Norway - but the 1.8 TSI with DSG that I ordered is more than worth the wait!

Noticed a nice little feature today, when using cruise, you can change gear and the speed automatically resumes without pressing resume if you don't touch the brake. On my old Superb, pressing the clutch would deactivate the cruise, meaning you had to press resume or set the speed again.

But it is a shame you can only accelerate in increments of 1mph (unless I have missed the trick) - on my old car a long press would do 5pm and a short press would do the 1mph.

Yeah, that was also about the only redeeming feature of my 2006 Passat! Again, Octy III is better than Superb II as that also did not display the set speed and increments were in 1 kph so even more annoying!

But you can accelerate and set the new value to be the starting value

Yes, very true, and the Octy III also lets you do multiple rapid presses and you know it's registered via maxidot whereas in the Superb II there were no maxidot confirmation so you had to wait a few secs to see what speed you got or keep resetting when speed adjusted manually.

congrats matt!!!

hope you are enjoying your toys

We are but still in the discovery processes like this one  :giggle:

Nice!

My trip indicated 64MPG on my 20 mile trip in to work this morning. Love the little 1.2 TSI :) I'd like to hear how well the 'new' 1.2 unit goes in a Mk3 Octy, weight wise it seems there's not much between that and my Rapid because of the MQB platform.

You've got to do a full tank and work it out properly to claim the Briskoda Record......still standing at 62.51mpg... :sun:

Matt, you've got to be i  with a shout, filled mine up yesterday and calculated the consumption - using the aircon all the time in the current heatwave has dropped the fuel consumption to an abysmal 61.8 mpg.....

56.1mpg over the last tank, going in the right direction again!

Spotted my first race blue OctyIII on the road today, other than mine! It was an Elegance Estate on standard spec wheels, no chrome or sunset on the M1 northbound tonight, between J26 and J27, we were crawling in traffic alongside each other, but assume he was a non-Briskodian as he didn't even turn his head as far as I could tell!

Had a quote from TintR in Nottingham for the rear 5 panes, any shade £125, anyone on here used them? Supposedly lifetime warranty against scratches and bubbles! How dark should I go, any thoughts?

56.1mpg over the last tank, going in the right direction again!

Did my first proper fill-up today - 818 miles, though that includes the 17.10 litres the dealer put in when they sorted out the aircon problem.  The brim-to-brim was 60.2mpg, which I am pretty chuffed with considering that was the first tank and a pretty mixed profile of driving, not just stuck on the motorway.  Need to go some to catch Tim though...

I think Timoctav is just towing his Octavia with his other slightly more powerful car.  :giggle:

Well judging by the last fill up maybe the tow rope has broken.....see how it does at the next tank full......must stop checking at every time otherwise I'll get paranoid - I never normally do so regularly, just amazed that this big 2.0 litre car is using less fuel than the tiny Toyota Yaris 1.4 diesel it replaced, just goes to show that smaller engines aren't necessarily more economical as the "official" figures for the Yaris indicated that the Octavia shouldn't get near it. Certainly wasn't expecting much better than 55 mpg before I took delivery to be honest, and I don't drive it any different to the Yaris.
