Great - could we have a pinned thread recording miles per full tank (light to light), recording our model / engine (gearbox) / fuel?

Can the moderators help?

good idea - except I don't run the car that low, I normally fill up at 25%

  • Here are a few more pics of the interior as requested, also couldn't resist giving it a quick swill (just a wash'n'wax and spray on demon shine to finish off, oh and I put some rim wax on the alloys )

  • Tried the Eco mode this morning and it managed 58mpg with a clear 22m run on the motorway at a steady legal limit speed plus a mix of 6m country lanes and 8m across Nottm via the ring road. Stop star

  • I settled the VAG finance today with cheaper funds borrowed on my mortgage. It cost me £9.48 for 6 days accrued interest since signing the finance papers, no cancellation fees for withdrawing within

The light seems to come on with 10 litres left and about 70 miles or more - hence fill to fill is about 40 litres in the Octy 3. 50mgg is 440 miles and 60mpg is 530, the quoted 68.9mpg is just over 600 miles - thats my target!!

With the best will in the world, short of crawling around everywhere at max 50 mph, never using the air con or heated front / rear screen, keeping the windows closed at all times, always obeying the eco-tips, never using more than 2,000 rpm in any gear and keeping the tyre pressures spot on accurate you've got no chance of averaging 68.9 average over a whole tank full. Good luck trying though!

Get to paranoid over fuel consumption will spoil enjoyment of the car!

I know, its just a one off to see - I managed 56mpg out of my Qashqai 1.5dCi as a one off but it nearly killed me trying!!

Decided to treat myself to a blast today, someone was asking about the rpm's at various cruising speeds, can report as follows...

70 mph - 1850 rpm

80 mph - 2100 rpm

90 mph - 2350 rpm

...decided not to go any faster. Back to eco mode for the rest of the week to offset the lowly 49mpg on the way home today! Got a trip to York tomorra and Chester on Fri so should be able to get back on track! :D

Advantage of having a sports car - if I feel the need for speed I take that for a high speed blast!!

I can't believe how much quieter it is at speed compared to the Superb 170CR, there is definitely more sound insulation stuffed into the bulkhead and under the bonnet, and the engine itself doen't have the same growl that the 170CR has, which in a bizarre way makes you speed more easily as the whine of the engine made the Berb settle in at a lower cruising speed, might be something to do with the OctyIII's lower revs too!

Had a message from the dealer that the boot nets have arrived and will be sent out in the post or available to collect. Decided to opt for the posting option to save fuel, 3rd fill up yesterday, only averaged 56.2mpg this time but that included 3.5 hours to travel 88miles back from Chester! :(

Still think that's great mpg for a powerful 2 litre car. I've never regularly hit 55mpg and never had a car as powerful as my soon to be Octy, so for me that's a win win.

Matt, you need to try harder mate - I'm getting over 61 mpg......

I'll be looking to set a one off record for mpg, providing I don't get pulled for driving too slow on the motorway lol!

Yeah, I keep trying but the combination of Sheffield hills and the bloody queues on the M1 and getting in/out of Nottingham is scuppering my chances of hitting that magic 60mpg average. I do get over 60 most mornings on the commute as I set off before 7am but the traffic in the evening coming out of Nottingham is the killer blow! I have noticed that if I avoid the motorway, a good A road trip seems to help the economy jump up a bit. I was sat on the M67 yesterday for over an hour crawling just 2 miles up to Mottram, before that, it was reading 62mpg since leaving Chester, but by the time I got home it had dropped to 52mpg :wall:

90% of my travelling is on the M53 and A55 with very few holdups, so its easy to maintain 60mph for an hour or more at a time - should be good to get into the mid 60's hopefully - maybe 68.9 even!

Free boot nets only for UK orders placed from the March brochure due to a misprint in the spec lists! They are also only the black nets, not the lovely red ones shown in the brochure, but not I'm not complaining.

Your first dead body disposal will soon fix that :)

Sorry ment Boot NETS

Congrats on the free boot! I thought they came standard but the ol cutbacks must really be hitting Skoda! :giggle:

I'm still very tempted to re-order but really do miss the chrome not being an option any more. I really, really should resist but I can't help it.

Sorry, must have missed that, what's the crack with the re-order, have they messed up your original order?

Worried about the free boot?

Had a TPMS alarm flash up this morning.  No sign of a puncture so just reset and carried on, but had to switch off and re-start before it would reset.  Just been and checked all the pressures this lunchtime, thinking if it was a slow puncture it would have had time to go down but all are showing 2.1 bar.  Only thing I can guess is the recent fluctuation in temperatures, yesterday being the hottest day of the year so far but it was quite a lot cooler this morning!?
