Delivery times

Featured Replies

Its not all doom and gloom on the delivery front. I called my dealer after seeing the above update as I've got a VRS on order with ALL the problematic options and its now status 20 for week 47 build.

Car was ordered late September, but was a change to a ordered for stock car which I believe was ordered beginning of September.

How long does it normally take for the car to come once it is in transit in the uk. According to skoda uk on Tuesday they said my car is in transit now am I right to believe them lol. Here hoping it comes soon. Ordered 14 august. With only Bluetooth on it and black pack

In addition to above how long does it take from build to dealer? Mine was built on Tuesday.. Wonder how long before I actually get it?

My Fabia was build week 43 and it arrived at Grimsby last night. I am told it should be at the dealer in a couple of days.

In addition to above how long does it take from build to dealer? Mine was built on Tuesday.. Wonder how long before I actually get it?

Mine was built 21st oct. Arrived at Emden by 25th oct and is still sat there.

Been told will be delivered to dealer sometime next week, however will not be available until 15th and then only if I do the Skoda 7 day insurance, which I won't be, so it can sit in their yard a little longer can't it.

I can't get time off work at the drop of a hat either so it will have to sit there until between 18-21st.

Mine was built 21st oct. Arrived at Emden by 25th oct and is still sat there.

And will continue to sit there unless the dealer raises the transport order for it to be delivered, this happens if on the order the date for delivery is too far in the future, if for example the delivery date was December 1st, and the car arrives on October 21st, then unless noticed otherwise, the car will just sit there until released for delivery to the dealer in time for December 1st.  All very complicated, but then I realise after typing that you are talking about your car at Emden, not Grimsby or Sheerness!!  Doh!

But, once in the UK, I believe it has to be requested to be delivered by the dealer, otherwise it will just sit there.

Can I ask as to why you won't take the x7 day insurance?

Once its built, work on 4 weeks, for transport to the port then to cross the channel, then to clear customs etc then transported to your dealer then your dealer to PDI and register it etc, 4 weeks is a safe amount of time, but if the wind is in your favour then it can be as little as 2-3 weeks, again, its another part of the Skoda Lottery Game!

When we were waiting for my wives Beetle earlier this year, that was a nightmare, it was coming from Mexico, and once it boarded the ship in Mexico, the ship then done deliveries all up the Eat Coast of the States before crossing the Atlantic to Emden, then it had to be sorted for transport across the channel etc, from build to collection was about 8 weeks!!!

Because it's nothing but hassle going through a load of questions for insurance that I won't use, every time I've used it in the past, I've had nothing but gibbering sales buffoons on at me when my insurance is due for renewal at the most exorbitant & uncompetitive rates/prices going. If I pay £35 for to my existing insurer (which I will have to do anyway), I don't have to put up with the gibbering sales buffoons next year!

I find that a front end request to accommodate my 17 year old son*, with an SP30 on his licence, is enough to terminate any insurance discussion that I don't want to have.

*I don't have a son.

But if the wind is not in your favour it takes longer - mine took 5+ weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll hope for a bit of luck and a fair wind then.

Mine arrived at Emden 24th Oct and apparently still sitting there...SUK advised that cars sit at port max 15days before becoming 'priority'. When it gets over to UK should take a week to get to dealers then another 3-4days for PDI

Interesting..mine has been quoted as delivery by 16th December when I first ordered so I might be chasing this one when it eventually arrives in the UK. Could this be why it's still sat in Emden?

i hope mine doesnt take a week to get to the dealer. he look out his window and see them rolling off the ferry!!!

I ordered mine on the 19 September and was gived mid December as a delivery date.

I've called the lease company every other week to see if this is still okay and was assured it was.

This morning, I received an email from them saying (direct cut&paste):

"Dear MrG,

I am writing to inform you of an update to your new vehicle order anticipated delivery date.

Your vehicle order is progressing and we are continually monitoring the anticipated delivery dates to keep you informed of any key changes.

As such, we have recently been advised that the anticipated delivery date has changed from late December to early January. The reason for this update is because experience delays at factory due to restrictions on some options.

Please be aware the exact date of delivery will be confirmed by the dealer once the vehicle has arrived in stock. Delivery dates may fluctuate for various reasons and we are working with our suppliers to ensure any deviation from the previously advised anticipated delivery date is kept to a minimum.

We are committed to updating you with relevant information as we receive it. In the meantime, if you have any questions relating to your new vehicle order please contact us on your dedicated driver line number XXXX XXX XXXX – we would be pleased to assist.

Kind Regards,"

I believe when the dealer does the online order for a car, they have to put in a required by date, if that is set too far in the future i.e. longer than the original anticipated 12 week delivery then the car will just sit at the docks until it reaches a week or so before that date, then it will automatically be put for delivery to the dealer, I had that happen when I ordered my TST VRS a couple of years ago, I wanted my car on September 1st, I ordered around April, they put 1st September as required date, car arrived at the port start of July, then it just sat there, once I found out it was there I wanted it then, so they manually requested delivery, it turned up a few days later and that was that, however, if it hadn't been manually requested it would of just arrived at the dealer in time for September 1st registration etc, so it might be handy to know when they requested delivery for.

I will get mine next Friday, had (somewhat reluctantly) to use the Skoda 7 day insurance as my dealer needed it for the tax disc and my insurer wouldn't have been able to get it to them in time because of the weekend.

Our Monte Carlo was ordered in the last days of September 2012 with a quoted delivery of mid January. End of November dealer rings me up to say much to their surprise as well as mine, it was at Grimsby waiting for a transporter; we collected a week later.

Dealer called today to inform me my car has now changed to status code 20, build week 47. Ordered 15th Sep, it's a manual diesel vRS estate in black, with pictoris wheels, colour maxi dot, cruise, winter pack, panoramic sunroof, silver roof rails, space saver spare, variable boot floor and sunset glass. Hopefully delivered mid-Dec.

Easy - dealer had used their August allocation already, so could only place the order at the start of September when their new allocation kicked in.

My 2.0tdi vRS hatch, race blue has gone code 20 with for week 48. :D

Just been told I should have it the week before Xmas by skoda. Not expecting it till 1st week of jan in reality tho!

Now just need to sell the fabia!

That's what I was thinking but, I was given the order number on the Monday of 19th Aug. I guess that, that is just a dealer and not a factory generated order number then ? :-(

So nice of the dealer to inform me from the start - not!

Unfortunately the salesman doesn't work for them any more, else I would've vented my spleen at him.

Bah Humbug!!
