Latest update for mine is a joke! :-(

Placed order on Thursday August 15th, processed on Monday Aug 19th, have only now been told that it was accepted at the factory on September 4th!!

I am to expect delivery, the memo'd standard, x16 weeks from acceptance date!

If you work that out, it will be delivered...

…on Xmas Day!!  :wall:

It took x20 days for the factory to accept my order!!! WTF?!!!

I think you've done quite well out of it..... (Sarcasm mode off)

I ordered mine on the 12th of August, dealer processed it on the 24th of August, the factory accepted the order on either the 28th or 29th of September. I've been told that the car will be built week 4 with a delivery estimated at the end of February.

As far as I'm concerned, both the dealer and Skoda have made a mess of it. I've emailed SUK's Chief Exec direct to express my displeasure. Let's see what happens.....

Probably not a lot is the answer.

I also complained to the CEO and got a call from one of his customers service managers who promised me a update every two weeks on the build of my car but I've not heard a thing.

Christ-on-a-bike!  :o

You're right, I thought mine was bad, but they have really messed yours up!  :|

Now that's a dealer that needs naming. I don't think I'd want to deal with a company that did that.

You're probably not wrong, I'll give them a chance to rectify the situation and then see where I go from there. At the end of the day, I've still got my current VRS to drive around in, I might just take my business elsewhere.

They've promised me contact within 48 hours, we'll see though.

They're the new Skoda franchise in Bushey, Herts, I won't directly name them (yet)

Yep, they suck. Avoid like the plague. I've had horrendous dealings with them in the past.

Ordered a 2.0Tdi Elegance Estate on 9th July and still waiting... the only thing I know is that was built on week 44.

Ouch, thats REALLY bad. I feel your pain, and thats honestly a bit rare for me.

With the speed some are getting their VRSs you should be able to get it faster then that! SUK should be able to "Fast track" your order. That should land you a build week 51ish

Mine was ordered 15th of July and accepted by the factory at September 26th (Due to colors and rims ...). When my order finally came through it was fast tracked. I got a provisional built week 45 and it ended up getting built Week 44 (i.e. 'only' 1 month after order was accepted).

Of course me and my big mouth (eerrrr, or rather my fat fingers) jinxed myself, stating on these forums that I don't have a ferry to worry about! Apparently the recent storm has caused them to reload from train to trucks and back on trains for some of the route, so delivery is *fingers crossed* end of Week 48 with a chance it will slip into December / week 49.

Hi all

Ordered VRS 5th October. Candy White,Columbus,Canton emailed my Skoda dealer yesterday for an update and replied with (Still with planning at the moment (the same with all other VRS's Hatches ordered - and there's a lot of them!)

Any info on what still with planning means

Dealer said to me end of January when I ordered, looking like March now hope I am wrong

My VRS Hatch was built last Tuesday. Still sat at Emden I think. Hopefully have it before December!

Mine appears to be going backwards and forwards between week 51 and now week 2.

As of yesterday one month has passed since my order and deposit, I decided to contact the dealer and ask for any news.

The reply was: "The car is accepted by the Skoda factory, but not yet planned for production. We have marked it as a priority car (wtf!?), and expect to have a build date soon."

Has anybody had that? Does it mean that my car has been "ordinary" so far or are they just bullshting me?

Lol I nearly fell out my chair when I read this....priority! That's new to me!

Same here. Have you been given the "model year change" and "new rapid spaceback" nonsense too?

No, I haven't been given any excuses or reasons why, just it will be New Year before it arrives, which could mean anything! I shall watch out for those tales though. ;)

Good job I like driving my Roomster as well, I guess. :)

3 days for me...

As of yesterday one month has passed since my order and deposit, I decided to contact the dealer and ask for any news.

Ehm yes, thats what I meant by mine being fast tracked! And yes that means your car was "ordinary" in terms of priority until now!

Getting it marked priority after just 1 month is pretty good service compared to most others in here! TBQF I think its actually rude towards other customers! My total delivery time will be around 4½ month, which is far from the worst case record on this forum. I (am attempting to) count my blessings that my car got so fast through the system once it was accepted by the factory *touch wood* (it's still en route).

There are a set number of stages cars goes through, someone else care to clarify which stage is status 10/20/???:

a: Order You -> dealer -> Import. Technically this is the dealer ordering it at the import company on your behalf (SUK for the brits, Scandinavian Motor Co. for me). I THINK this is one global database, but it might actually be a separate database maintained by the import.

b: Order Import -> Factory (in the above posts named "Accepted by factory"). When factory logistics personnel are relatively sure they can get the parts they need for YOUR car they accept the car into their system. That means your car contains no parts with which there are known delivery issues (crome trim, ACC electronics/radar, stuff for the sun roof, paint going out of production etc.)

For cars with potential issues this is a highly complex puzzle, including dealer quotas, luck, accessibility of parts, luck, other logistical considerations .... (it feels like I've forgotten something ... oh yes) and LUCK. At the moment though they seem to have a set of monkeys picking 1200 cars per day almost at random (with VRS estates apparently being the flavor of the month).

SUK and SMC as well as the dealer I used will not give you a provisional build week until your car reaches this stage, Anything said by dealer before this is pure guess work! But then again, SUKs provisional build weeks tend to shift like a paper plane in a hurricane.

c: Production planning. The factory plans precisely which cars are going to be manufactured 3 weeks ahead of time. When your car reaches this stage, you can start thinking of which champagne bottle to put on Ice, because your car IS on its way. At this point the only things that can move your build week is a part very suddenly going out of production, or lightning hitting the factory, a natural disaster or .... OK I admit it can still go wrong (I think it has for 1 or 2 members here) but its rare! Oh yes 1 more thing: Getting your car from stage b->c involves just about the same complex procedure mentioned above (ie. Monkeys).

d: Actual production, obviously .. although your car could fall off the assembly line (Mazda! as they say on the Toyota factory! Skoda says Seat I guess? :p)

e: Delivery: Plenty of horror stories around, no need to repeat them (I've used up my repetition quota, or at least I will have by the end of this post)! Just go back a random number of pages in this thread and you'll find 3-5 examples.

f: You get your car! Unless dealer ordered the wrong color or Skoda Q-control was on strike/holiday/Slept in the day your car was made, in which case its back to a). Thankfully only a handful of members here have had this ultimate torment happen I think.

That was a bit long winded I think, but its an attempt at explaining the process and why the information can be so confusing at times. In addition its not always clear from the info you're getting from the dealer which stage your car is ACTUALLY at. To be honest I think Skoda has been having IT issues with these systems on top of (or because of?) the supply issues with different components.

As a rule of thumb your car should go from stage a->b within a month after you order (DISCLAIMER: I may be horribly wrong in any part of this post, but particularly here ...). If it doesn't you may have to pressure the Stealer for info WHY it hasnt moved forward. All the info is there on his computer screen although it may be hidden as an odd error code. If there is an error on the car, he can call the import and they can tell him what it is. Its then up to you to decide if you want to adjust your order to get around the error or keep the car as is and hope it solves itself. If you choose the later I'm not entirely sure how you prevent ending up like Chunkstar. (Look here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/293228-omg-finally/).

IMO its this step that separates the good Dealer from the Horrible. The Horrible dealer will add your car to the system, tell you to be patient and not take a second look at his computer screen unless you kidnap his firstborn for ransom. The good dealer will check your car in the system when e-mailed or phoned (in my case only phone or showing up in the showroom worked) and at least try to understand what the screen is trying to tell him. The really great dealer will keep an eye on his cars, checking them for error codes once a week, try to understand why the oldest car in his orderbook isnt accepted yet and contact you if there are any odd issues where you may be willing to compromise. I dont think any dealers are this proactive, but at least TrackMySkoda, if coded really well, offers you the possibility of doing this part for them!

As mentioned Stage b->c happens 3 weeks before the car is made. Apparently your car can be marked priority, but other then that its out of both yours and your dealers hands.

As for the last stages I honestly believe there is a large random factor in how long this takes. The port in Emden has a big parking lot and x number of guys filling the ferry fastest possible! If your car has been parked there 15 days or more (from reading someone elses comment - not sure who, sorry) it will get picked up first on the next docking, otherwise its just luck weather or not they start from the end your car happens to be parked at or not. I may be cynical but I honestly believe that if you know someone there, they would be able to bribe the boys there to keep an eye out for your car!

One month in and no provisional date as yet for my SE order. I might also have just made the wait even longer by adding the 5 year warranty :giggle:

Ehm .. you add the 5 year warranty when you receive the car!

Adding it now, it'll be down to 6 months when your car is delivered

RNPhoto thanks for the detailed description :)

SUKs provisional build weeks tend to shift like a paper plane in a hurricane.

By the one of the reasons not to order a 2.0TDI was exatctly this - they were obviously struggling to predict when a 2.0 TDI 4x4 estate will come.

Thus, for the diesel they said approx. 120 working days, while for the petrol they claimed 90 working days

By the way here the 5y (OR 100k km) warranty is standard, and by standard I suppose included in the price anyway :)

I can add extra 50k km, making it a total of 5y OR 150k km, but decided not to go for this.

Same here. Have you been given the "model year change" and "new rapid spaceback" nonsense too?

That is bull****... The model year change happens in June/July, not December. :)

Probably doesn't help with the two week shutdown around Christmas, here's to hoping it arrives before and makes a nice Xmas present :)

Just Ordered my Vrs 2.0tsi dsg, Race blue, Columbus, Canton, sunset glass, leather vrs seats with red stitching, heated seats, heated washer nozzles, cruise control and black pack.
