part ex  fixed at 10k until I get my new car no matter how long it takes! mine only 19 months old at moment on a 12 plate..but I took early action as I knew how long the golf orders were taking

I went to a dealer group in the north east though that also has an alfa franchise (the one I bought the car from as it happens) as I figured they would be able to move the car internally rather than have a vw dealer with a car they didn't know what to do with.

I love the way my mito looks..I just never grew to love the engine and in the end it just never felt powerful enough after my octavias...but it was only ever a stop gap as when I changed there was no new mk3 vrs and no mk7 golf gti on the market. but they were imminent so just got something to tide me over

in the end heart ruled head as the vrs is way more practical and cheaper..and I have had 3 of them!  but we have never had a golf gti and its something, that as a couple, we were surprised to find we actually really wanted one...  handily..I can afford it..I have no kids and commute is only 3 miles there and 3 miles back...my car is for me to enjoy on weekends in teesdale and weardale..and the wife says I am not quite old enough for a mid life crisis boxster yet

though it may well have cost me my ps4 for my birthday

I think I know what you mean about the Cloverleaf engine, but I think it is a brilliant car.  It does sometimes lack the hussle of an out-and-out hot hatch, but this is compensated by fantastic useable torque and it is a real looker.  I've had a few niggles - Blue & Me intermittently working; iPod (old style nano) not consistently connecting; multiple blown bulbs; leaking rear shocks; leaking cyclinder heads.

I've wrapped the car in cotton wool and I would be worried with that list of faults about keeping it beyond the end of the warranty.  The fuel consumption has been impressive - just under 40mpg - but I expect the oil burning vRS I'm buying will save me some money.

I think you dodged a bullet with the Golf GTi - a horrible car which has been made to look more ugly with each incarnation.  The latest mark is horrible, and one day you'll pull up alongside an R32 and wish you'd sold a kidney.  VW have not made an interesting or desirable car since the Scirocco, and I'm not referring to the latest overweight, fat-bottomed pretender.  Any marque responsible for producing the easily-resistable Eos and the Toe-Rag is clearly seeking to boost sales of the other brands under the VAG umbrella....

I finally spoke to my dealer yesterday. Initially I sent an e-mail asking if there was an update (a reply to my previously unanswered e-mail last month) and he got back to me saying that it would be delivered end of Feb.

I decided that it was time to call time on the games they are playing so I sent back a snotty reply saying that I wasn't happy and I'd be reviewing my options with other brands over the weekend.

That prompted two missed calls from him (within minutes of sending the e-mail) - no real help given though, just that "They obviously want my business" - but no real answers, other than the car is likely in reality to be with me by the end of March.

I've also been in contact with Skoda UK (via a Facebook rant) and they've gone off to have a think and see what can be done.

I'm pretty close to cancelling now - I think I might try and get a deal with the Leon (the dealer also does Seat)

Ho hum.....

Had a call from Skoda today, have been assigned a case manager who is looking into the situation and going to come up with a solution by Tuesday next week....

We shall see....

I got it...I got it...I got it....   :)

11 weeks and still no build week, is that normal? Phoned SUK twice and they've got no info either...starting to lose the will to live. Still, rum helps...

Hi. I am new to this site. My car was built last week (46) does anyone know how long it will take to get to uk? And which port will it go to? Thanks

Interested to find this out as mine was build week 46!

Had an update Friday - tdi VRs hatch now planned for wk50 build. Was late November then wk4 then wk6 then wk51. Lord knows !!!!

As long as its not built the last working day of 2013 - don't want a Friday afternoon special lol

Our Fabia was built WK46 last year and we collected from the dealer on the 7th December, although it was available from the 4th but work got in the way.

Most are shipped in from Emden to Grimsby, although some arrive via Sheerness and I believe the Tyne ports.

Went in to the dealer yesterday to order a new VRS Diesel estate and i was told delivery would be around March/April.

Obviously i wasn't happy about this but the manager explained that they had just took delivery of the following vehicle for their showroom:

Octavia VRS estate in Candy White.

Diesel with auto DSG

Black style package

Canton Upgraded sound system

Bluetooth Plus

Simply clever package

plus various other extras.

Dealer explained that it is brand new, not pre reg, no miles and has not been driven by anyone in the dealership and is not a demonstrator so they have sold it to me for pretty much the list price so i get the extras for next to nothing :o)

They have also given me Gap insurance, Diamond bright package and smart repair for next to nothing too.

Pick it up on Wednesday 20/11/13 so its only a 4 day wait

Pure luck that i went into the dealer and managed to get a car that they had just got that week for the showroom.

I ordered a VRS Diesel Hatch today, dealer told me most likely March.

Dealer emailed me with a provisional delivery date of week 19 so end of may.

27 week from order to delivery. Ouch

What dealer...

Phoned suk yesterday and they said car will be in uk sometime this week and will be coming into tyne port. After looking on here I noticed that skoda use ships mostly ending in highway. They only ship due in from emden this week is the city of Rome does anyone know if skoda uses these aswell?

Just spoke to SUK and my car is now at Grimsby sat on the boat. Wonder how long it'll take to get to my dealer.

The woman at SUK said it should be in my possession within a week.

I would guess at dealers in a week and in your possession in 2wks! (My experience anyway!)

At least it is built and on UK soil!!

Not quite on soil yet - it's still sat on the ship in the dock! I did think a week sounded a bit optimistic tbf.

What exactly does the PDI entail?

I'll still keep everything crossed and hope I have it in a week..............

Every time someone says it's almost here I am so tempted to say: "Not today... Not today."

Given the nice wait that most people seem to be encountering, I'm sure those who have waited equally as long will attest, it'll be so nice to get those keys in my hands and finally take it for a drive when it does turn up. All I can think of is "Schtop it's not ready yet" :giggle:

Ordered VRS Tdi estate with extras 7th of November.

Got provisional build date of week 2 2014.

My one might be built ... fingers cross...!!

Week 51

Well, today I called the dealer and they also said 51st week. HOWEVER this is preliminary and will be confirmed next wednesday.

They said Skoda factories have had real problems for 1 month with everything being sorted this weeek and from next week all delivery times should be accurate.

1.8 tsi estate

Dealer tells me mine was built earlier this week and is at Emden, but there are delays in the port due to the recent storm.

So.. it's 6 weeks until the provisional date I was given - am I bad if I want to ring SUK to get an update *again* last time it wasn't officially on the system. But last time I rang I was basically told to ring the dealer!

Dealer hasn't been in touch for over 2 weeks to my enquiry!

Define bad ;) if they haven't replied then I think it is quite reasonable to call them. I would be enclined to call and just start with the I appreciate you are busy and my enquiry may well have not been received but could I trouble you to check on... I find it unlikely that they would be funny about that, i'm sure it's nothing new given the average lead time for cars atm :)
