Rang SUK now and they said no one in dealer support was available and that they didn't have access to the info and would call me back. New one on me, but can understand why those with access to the times are hiding.  :giggle:

I've just come off the phone from suk. Very pleasant conversation. He explained the status codes delivery times etc.

He did say my car (ordered 5th Oct) has not got a build date yet because of two items that are in short supply - Gemini alloys and lane assist cameras. Once I get a code 10 I'll be given a build date but this could change. Code 20 is what you need to be hear. Then the build will not change and it should land at your dealers four/five weeks after that.

I had exactly the same conversation with what must have been the same very helpful gentleman from Skoda UK, exactly the same delay info he said to me. Mine is also status zero and mine was ordered in the last week of September.

My one will be built and leaving the factory on the 16th Dec... hopefully

Did you order the estate?

Popped into the dealer today for an update, ordered 20th September, Candy White vRS DSG Diesel Estate, few extras but none of the problematic ones, had a provisional build week a few weeks ago of week 49 (this week I think) but that got bumped into Skodas version of cyber space and nothing has changed since, they checked the updated bulletins from Skoda and it is now quoting 18 weeks for new customer orders, however, having ordered a couple of months ago I presume that now applies to my order (and other peoples orders), the dealer currently has about half a dozen vRS's on order of various types, and mine was the first one, no build info for me, nor for any of the other orders, my tax runs out end of December and I have told the dealer I am not renewing that, so they can either have my car and give me a loan car or go to the Post Office for me and tax my car, either or is good with me.

I have told them that if it turns up after mid January then they can keep it until March 1st, as it won't be worth registering it in February when its so close to the new registration.

Dealer also said to me that the whole ordering and delivery dates with Skoda have all gone to pot at the moment, and they genuinely have no idea when things are being built or turning up, they admit that its a pain when trying to negotiate with customers as they are wheeling out the 12 week delivery term, which is legitimate in the majority cases but then all of a sudden the cars are then 20 weeks or so before being delivered, they are trying there best, but its one car ordered against a worldwide company, so banging your head against a brick wall most of the time!

So, I have finally resigned myself to the fact that my car will turn up when it does, and I will be in it for March 1st all being well, the only good thing is that my PX is guaranteed so each monthly payment I am currently making is making my figures go in my favour for the new car!  So I might save myself £50 per month or so!

Apart from the money savings I know I have ordered a great car, it is totally spec'd to what I want and so it will be worth the wait I am sure!!!

Frustrating, but not much we can do I suppose!

when did you order it

20th September, I would think, according to the first line of the post.

Got something similar between the lines from my dealer today. It seams that the dates are being communicated between the dealer, importer and the factory without the ordering system this days. I ordered September 4th, still no official date but the dealer is confident that it will be build week 2. Will see.

Yes indeed 20/9/13, but what can you do?  When I order/buy something I want it there and then, yet this time as frustrating as it is I haven't got any choice but to resign myself to this stupidly long wait with little or no information coming from Skoda, I love Skoda cars and this will be my 3rd, however, the ongoing delivery issues certainly makes you think about the future!

Popped into the dealer's this morning for an update - the car is at the Port of Tyne, awaiting delivery to the dealer, ready for collection on Monday 16th December as originally planned. The beauty of getting a plain & simple Octavia SE I suppose :)

I'm going to go out on a limb here but i'm starting to feel a little sorry for the dealers (don't all shout at me) purely from a business perspective as they are generally having to take the fall for the delays, not a fun time to be a Skoda dealer!

I wouldn't feel too sorry for them - clearly they're smashing their targets for the Octavia vRS!!

In all seriousness, I do sympathise but it's hard to be patient when you're waiting on a new motor.  I ordered mine on 7th November and I'm already getting jumpy - I've managed to stop myself from picking up the phone and pleading with the dealer to deliver my new car asap.

This is not a problem unique to Skoda - Alfa took six weeks to get a car which was in stock to me, and Renault took 3 months to build a Twingo (seriously, how much work can it be?!).  I'd much prefer the hassle and uncertainty of waiting knowing that the car is being built especially for me... at no extra cost!

I have been waiting 12 weeks for an Octavia Elegance and it was due early December 2013. I have just been told in late November that it will not be built until early January 2014 so i will not get it until mid February. There would appear to be an enormous demand for this car, but he did tell me that there has been a technical problem which has delayed production. Is this correct? Obviously I am peeved, but as I am trading in my current Octavia, the dealer will be losing out on the value he has given me, so I guess he is also peeved. The trade in price for a low mileage Laurin & Klement is appalling by the way and not what I expected when I bought it six years ago.

The joys of not having stock cars I guess. At least we know they won't have sat in compounds getting battered by the elements for months on end while they wait to be purchased.

I'm just glad I don't have a lease car to go back. When this is up in 2 years if I go for another octavia i'll have to order it this time next year just to make sure i'm not without a car

My Octavia 1,6 Diesel Elegance with panoramic roof and front assist finally arrived Norway.  Ordered in July so I was getting very anxious here...  Worth the wait.

Mine is now in the UK!

I have finally been given the closest thing to a build date I think I will ever get....

Went into the dealer over the weekend with the intention of cancelling, gave them the chance to try and price up a similar Leon FR 184 but they couldn't make the monthly payments match for various reasons.

One of the last things they looked at was the build week for the octavia, which has now turned into week 51.

They rang me back this morning and said they've spoken to retail support who said that unless something "very drastic" happens my car will be built on that week, but for some reason they've not updated it to code 20 yet?

Anyone else heard anything like this? - In theory the car should def go code 20 next week if it's going to be built 51 (wc 16/12) - if it is I should have it 2nd week in January which at this stage makes it pretty much not worth considering anything else (unless it's used)

So finally I might have closure, it's looking likely that it will be 22 weeks from order to delivery - nearly double the original estimate, but still.....
