That's a bit **** but similar wait to what I'm expecting

I am inclined to believe I should be "lucky" - which is an interesting concept as a paying customer :-)

Interestingly my colleague to the right of me had a MK2 which was a factory build, his is a 10 plate and took - wait for it- 6 months to turn up

It appears not much has changed!

I ordered a White tsi vrs estate 0n 7th November, had a phone call from the dealer today, build week 15. The good news is that I have an agreed trade in figure.

 

Patience is a virtue.

Ordered mine (spec in signature) 15th August 2013, "Accepted" by factory September 4th 2013, due to dealer quotas ( which wasn't explained at point of purchase )

 

Latest update from Skoda UK today: I'm looking at a build week of 08, February 17th 2014!!!!

 

I am no longer excited by this car and I think Skoda as a whole are a complete joke!!

Dealer rang today to say; Build Week 3.

 

I asked if it was a status 20 but he didn't seem to understand what I meant!

 

I said that, if that is definitely the build week and it takes x3 weeks to get to me, I would rather wait another x3 weeks for the "14" plate.

 

I asked him to confirm the dates and whether me waiting another x3 weeks would alter my agreed trade-in value.

 

I ordered week 33 so, assuming the car was delivered in week 5-6 then the car will have taken  approx 24-25 weeks which is, obviously, just under x6 months.

First post after being a long time browser of the forum.

I have ordered pretty much the same spec as accobra. Ordered 9th Nov and have been told today build week 4 or 5. If that doesn't move too much, I'll be looking at late February delivery which works fine for me.

I had an update on mine today, from the dealer, still status 10, but now back in to BW2. Was at BW7 last week.

my order is very similar to loadswine, I ordered on 30th August got accepted at factory on 1st sept and have been told BW6...So from order (start of week 36) to build is 23 weeks...

A bit of a general question:

From reading this forum I get the impression that a lot of people in the UK are buying VRS-s and are quoted ridiculous (=anything over 4mo IMO) wait times. (Or maybe it's just that only these folks will tell you, you never know.)

Anyway the question is, are the long wait times in the UK only for the VRS version? Are new "regular" Octavias getting into your paws quicker? What have the dealers told you?

 

Side-question: why is it that a huge portion of Octavia sales in the UK seem to be VRS (or is it just an unfounded impression)? Looks like its larger than in any other market. Has it something to do with taxing or financing or something mundane like that?

Just spoken to the dealer reference our SE 4x4 order. He didn't offer a provisional build week again but he did say not to expect it before March :S So it looks like it will be a 14 plate

 

Original quote was 15 weeks tops end of January for collection but by the sounds of it that's moving to 20 weeks + The current Yeti took 25 weeks, so I wonder if she will beat that. Mind our Monte Carlo arrived over 5 weeks ahead of the time expected, so you win some and loose some.

Well, I was just told by SUK basically to call mid-end Jan to see if it's been accepted by factory then. Guess that means a 14 car too then?!

Quite impressed. Ordered my car Dec 5th, has been assigned to week 4, all being well should be a March 1st collection from the dealers.

2.0 TDi 150 Elegance estate in White, spare wheel only option.

I am currently sat at the dealers all ready to pick up my car, I can even see it outside, two hour drive this morning sold my car and then got a lift to the dealer, salesman comes out about 40 minutes ago saying there is a problem....DVLA website has crashed can't do the tax at the moment so i can't have the car, just have to sit here until the website is working again.

This is very very frustrating

Same thing happened to me the day I was due to pick up my yeti thankfully was only a couple of hr delay but I feel your pain

Had a call this afternoon from my dealer.  My silver 2.0 Tdi DSG estate is in town.  Be ready next Friday.  Can't wait.

Friday week 36, I ordered my Octavia 2.0 TDI and on Friday week 51 is the delivery time. Finally after this long wait  :sun:

On a new car you are allowed to drive it for up to 14 days whilst NOT displaying a disc. Sounds crazy but I just found this out recently when Dad purchased a new car. See link from DVLA

Spot on, was also a surprise to me. I picked up my car on Thursday evening, they didn't provide a VED disc but one is in the post. Expecting it today. In the meantime I was given a print off to show to any authorities in case of problems.

This is true however the car still has to be taxed before you can drive it, so I don't think it would of helped him as the website was down?

It's pretty poor they didn't have it taxed before you collected it. Mine had a tax disc in when I collected it.

I was lucky I only had to wait two hours turned my two hour drive down the M1 into 4 but I didn't mind. Managed 52mpg all the way back from Mansfield to Hertfordshire which was nice.

You are correct about having 14 days to display but the car must be taxed, read the fine print of your insurance, a car must be taxed and carry a valid MoT or insurance we will technically invalidated.

Glad to hear you got sorted and managed to collect the car in the end; sounds a bit like my Friday 13th, if it could go wrong then it did and it's still plaguing me today

Rang and had a rant at my dealer this morning. Ordered Rallye Green vRS on 4th September and up to this point had not even been given an indicative build date. I am sure it was coincidence, but mention of cancelling my order created a flurry of activity and all of a sudden I now have a provisional build date of week 5 and delivery to the dealer late Feb. Salesman mentioned that the dealership policy is that all cars must be registered within 10 days of arrival. I rather forcibly pointed out that if I had waited six months for delivery of my car, they could wait a few days if necessary to register the car in March. Unbelievable!
