Shock, Horror!

Featured Replies

Not a complaint against Jeep, but I have a slightly cynical attitude to these sort of adverts, having once sold similar products. It is not helped by comments such as:

This product when cured has a 75% stronger bond than PU. It dries quicker & sticks stronger. Also its user friendly as it contains no solvents / isosyanates.

75% is three quarters, but three quarters more what? How was it measured? What was being stuck?

Sticks stronger is terrible English!!

Any MS Polymer must contain solvents, otherwise it wouldn't be flexible or be able to be extruded from a tube.

A friend has a supply of MarineFlex, and that appears to be strong enough to be used by the RNLI, so I may go down that route.

I should hope not.

As I said I would test it first, and I'm not to worried about their command of the language as long as it works. Any PU adhesive will need a polyolefin primer to bond to polypropylene.

I've still got polypropylene items around the house stuck with my old Kent PU adhesive sealer, with no primer, just cleaned with  Acrysol, an acrylic cleaner and it is still holding water. It's a shame I've got none left!

Graham, Kent still make 2K M/S sealer.

Really.

I can't find anyone who is now selling in the UK, and was under the impression they had left the UK market a few years after I left them.

Don't have a link, do you?

I'd Googled "Kent Industries", which is what it was called when I worked for them, but it didn't bring anything up, and I was told they no longer had any reps and had given up over here.

I'm only winding you up Graham, happy to have hopefully helped you find what you need

Right Graham, you are the Guinea Pig ( so to speak),you purchase the Kent product, apply the Wheel arch kit.Jeep and Myself will await your report and then we will follow. Myself after all the input we have done on this problem,I think this time it will be SUCCESSFUL!!!!!!

Tony

Jeep/Graham I wish you well in your endeavours. The report from the body shop where mine is currently was that the adheisive was a total bitch to remove from the panels hence the extended repair time. I just wish the adhesion was as good on the plastics!

Yes it is, I had an even spread of it, not like your photos of your body shop effort. I had to carefully pare it away with a scalpel until a thin film left and then used Autoglym tar and adhesive remover. I also had success with a rubber eraser (Caramel) wheel used with a electric drill on areas of thicker adhesive film. It took the best part of a day to do one side. This time round I'm testing everything first.

No problem.

And found what I need:

Well that is amusing, I see it contains no solvents, so according to your comment on Speedbond it won't exit the tube. Looks as if it has the same ingredients as Speedbond to me.

When I sold it I seem to remember there was a small amount of VOC's in it.

Never mind, we aren't all perfect, are we?
