Skoda Fabia - Fuel Rail issue

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have purchased Skoda Fabia 1.2 Ambiente TDI more than 2 years back. Just few days back, 2 warning lights started to show - one for Glow plug system and other for exhaust. I got it checked from Skoda Dealer and after scanning they told me there is an issue with Fuel Rail and it needs to be replaced. Now my car is out of warranty period and they are charging hefty amount for that part i.e. Rs. 40000 approx .

Further, I got it scanned from outside (Bosch Service) and they told me the error coming is Fuel Shut Off valve- Open Circuit and it won't require change of fuel rail.

I am very confused right now whether to get it repaired from Skoda Authorized dealer or outside. Is there any alternative like getting the part replaced from outside or just repairing it. Please provide your suggestions ASAP.

Thanks

Hi jain, sorry to hear you have a problem. As your car is out of warranty, it doesn't really matter where you take it to get it fixed. As long as the repairer is a quality outfit who does good work. If Bosch Service are saying something different to the Skoda dealer, then as long as you make them aware of what Skoda has said about the rail needing changing so that if their repair doesn't work you don't pay for it, but will be willing to pay for an actual fault fix, you cannot go wrong. Let us know what happens and good luck!

I wrote a mail to Skoda customer care and the next day I got a call from the local Skoda dealer asking to bring the car to get it check once again. After checking it again they found that the problem was not the fuel rail but the wiring. The wires have been damaged by rats due to which the car came into the fault state.

I have been saved from the huge expense of fuel rail replacement and the wiring repair cost me one-tenth of that.

But I would like to know what I can I do to prevent the rats entering the car again?

Thanks

Varun
