He's 16.

And excited.

Unnecessary 'hahas' still don't cut the mustard though  ;)

  • Some helpful and useful points to consider before taking part in this thread.   1. In the Fabia 2 Forum George is the font of all knowledge and has never been known to be wrong on any topic.   2

  • Should be enough for everyone here.  My shout.

  • I feel quite sorry for the OP he started this thread saying how excited he was that his new car was at the dealership and is turned into a complete off topic bicker! Who cares how old he is or where h

Welcome to an 'adults' forum, where the arguments are just as petty but in (mostly) correct english and grammar.

Enjoy the car - very luck lad to have that at your age! Please don't chuck it in a hedge or similar!

I think I can forgive him getting a bit carried away.

Every time I got excited at 16 I made a mess in my undies

Im not going to argue with any of you on here, its not what i joined this forum to do, and i especially didn't pay for it to argue with members.

Jay, it's "you're" not "your"

Sorry, oli3000 mentioned correct English and all that...

Also, grrr666 made an amazing post and I can't agree more with point number 2 of the public announement ;-)

Not the way you speak, but what you type

Some people may have a nervous giggle after saying something, but they probably don't actually type that on a keyboard

It's also why the forum rules frown upon text speak

Anyway, enjoy the car when you get it, and as others have said, stay safe and drive sensibly

Don't argue, just ignore.

Plenty have strong opinions that you take with a pinch of salt and a shake of the head.

Enjoy your car and tell us how much. :)

Yeah Jay, I've only been on these forums a couple of months and the members are nothing but helpful. If you see a post you don't like then gloss over it and visit another thread.

Enjoy your new car, it will be awesome and let us know how it goes.

As others have said, George literally is the fountain of knowledge round here :-)

Many a mickle maks a muckle. !

People worry about getting no interest on their savings,

and yet you seen Charity Bag fills in the Supermarket etc,

Junior Clubs , good causes, doing stuff to raise money they really need,

& then the Adults go and get the money cashed in a machine and give 9% to the Coin Counter Company.

'Coin Star'.

Individuals with £100 in your coin/ small change jar and you are going to get £91 because you could not be bothered counting it.

Probably the kind of people that Hypermile & watch petrol prices and buy out of their way to save 2 pence a litre,

and give away 9 pence of each £1 to save Counting and Banking their money.

Each to their own with with Gifted or saved Money.

Hard Earned money is much the same, but then Scottish can be tight, or maybe they can save & give to good causes.

I believe we are a generous Nation.

Jay. ... wish I had got the armrest in mine. The kind of driving I do, 5th gear cruising to/from work, really suits one and I miss it. I've decided to save for one, apparently you don't get much change from £200, that's after I buy my 'spi vision'. :D

On the subject of 'text speak' where do the smileys and emoticons fit in?....George maybe you could find a link to something irrelevant? ;)

What i could do is save you money by letting you know where to get the armrest for less money.!

But no wee winky things tho.

If I promise to cut back on my use of winks and smiles would you be so kind as to share your money saving tip? From one scot to a 'white settler'!

Yeah come on George where is a good place to get one at a reduced price!

I was just wondering, what if Jay doesn't pass his test for

a year or more? I can't imagine anybody in their right mind would

buy a brand new motor for it to just sit there while they did lessons.

Am I missing something?

Maybe the person buying it doesn't care Garry.

I mean, he'll still have it to practise in while waiting to pass.

Surprisingly quite a lot of people do it these days, I know someone who drives a five year old Volvo.

Still signed up for a new Corsa for his boy when he hit 17.

When I was at college we had a girl who's Daddy bought her a new convertible for her 17th.

Took her about six months to pass, but who cares.  Wealth or credit is easily used to help ones offspring by some people.

This is not related to the OP, but she was an ungrateful cow too. Nothing worked for or earned.  All given freely so expected, not appreciated.

My wife calls it "princess syndrome" and it's not happening in this house by the looks of it. :D

IMO the Monte looks the best out of all of the Mk2 Fabias, I hope you enjoy the car because it looks great :)

One thing I will add is that again IMO this is a forum for people who have an interest in Skodas, It has nothing to do with a persons finacial background, how they can afford to buy certain cars, or why they choose to buy them at certain ages, provided they are not a moron I dont know what the problem is with him showing us his Mk2 Fabia Monte Carlo.

I honestly think no one on here as the right to make comments about how he can afford to have the car because I see that as being just plain rude.

Let me first say I couldn't give a hoot how it's been paid for. In any case he's a

lucky young fella.

I was just wondering that's all. It kind of makes sense if a great second hand bargain

came up, but in my way of thinking, to have a brand new car just sitting there is madness.

My other half late mum bought her a car when she was 17 before she passed her test.

Not a new one, just an old Fiat Panda.  She did lessons for a year without passing  before

stopping them to leave home to go to university. All together it sat on the drive for two years

before it was eventually sold for naff all just to get it out of the way.

My wife started lessons again a while after she had finished at university and eventually passed

when she was 24. She never ever got to drive the Panda.

And many people still pass their test within the first month of their Birthday, lots used to on the day of their birthday.

Have built and saved for that day for a year or 2.

(people are in Young Drivers Clubs, School Tution clubs for drivers, Motorsport, Drive offroad, Drive Tractors on the road from 16, all sorts of ways of being ready for the Theory, & Test.)

Stay at home, maybe earn £200-£250 a week take home, borrow or get the parents to borrow or sign the Finance.

£60 a week to the loan, £50 a week for the Insurance, £50 a week petrol, & manage on what is left.

It really is nobodies business.

Many people had little money when young and went through a list of cars, bikes etc, all costing money they could really not afford.

You do what you want or can afford or maybe even what you can not afford.

Nobodies business but theirs.
