Sparkly's Mk2 vRS (now sadly returning to stock)

Featured Replies

Sparkly, each of the Fabia's on this time board from last year were virtually stock, I had a different set of pads on mine to the others and I had part worn tyres, the others had everything stock, David turned his new tyres into chocolate and that is why he is so far off the pace.

Fond memories! When are you going to Bedford again and more importantly are there any spaces left?

Excellent thread, was a pleasure to read it all. Sparkly, I gather your vRS is out of warranty by now so the mods are not a problem. If you do not mind telling, how much was Admiral charging you for the mods you declared to them-asking as I am with them at the moment and Eibachs are going in very shortly. I am hunting for Brembo front pads 07.B314.52 but cannot find them in stock anywhere. I want to try their HP2000 pads as fully road legal, great spec sheet and keen pricing.

Brakes are the worst problem with MK2 vRS. Fine for everyday driving, even fast road, but completely useless for track work. Those who were at HowFast last year remember clouds of blue/white smoke and a bit of a panic in the pits I managed to cause lol. No.5 on the timesheet had yellow stuff pads ;) no issues !

Again, great read! Admire your perseverance with detailing and a suitcase of dosh you are willing to spend on products :). I love detailing (despite being really amateurish and pants at it) but I grow frustrated how short a time it lasts. Kids have unnatural ability to create ungodly mess inside somehow!!

I cannot wait to see how is your Mean Green going to behave at HowFast with all those handling mods. I think it was said here before but light alloys and appropriate rubber are the best mods you can implement, right after the brakes of course [emoji12]!

One thing I wished you did

Sparkly was to make vids of all the mods installation sequence, would make a great guide!

Keep up the good work!

J.

Jabo, Sharkrider now has the yellow pads and I have got rid of the Fabia.

As for places left, yes there is, here is a link to the thread, as last year call MSV and register, your money will be taken a week or three before the event.

HOW FAST #4

as above Jab, spaces available, and we are all doing it again, extras I have from last time:

1) run-in engine!

2) RSRs

3) yellowstuff pads

4) H&R RARB

:) should do better! lol...

Crap, just checked and I have something pre-planned on 16th, cannot make it unfortunately... :(((. There's no way I could get out of that one.

Well, I will not be able to improve on my previous best track time. Mind you, with Blue Yeti vRS (read the thread today, loved the wheel cam vid Richard posted showing smoke screen pads produced when he braked hard at the end of the straight when chasing that R8 driven by Captain Slow ;) ) and all of you with upgrades I'd stand no chance!!

I will be at Blyton Park instead!

Sparkly, sorry to hijack your thread and I am really sorry I will not be able to be there as I was looking forward to seeing your car in action big time!!! If you can get tuition, really helpful!

BTW, as for track days, try Opentrack (http://opentrack.co.uk/). Excellent service, Dave Woodhall is top chap, pictures, tuition and really good quality snacks in abundance, all included in price. I have no affiliation but was amazed by the service and organisation of the event and would recommend big time!

OK, Hijacking over!

Huh!

So.......in an interesting twist of fate, the Fabia might soon be for sale. (More on this later)

As yet unsure whether to offer to Brisky members in it's current modded state or strip the mods I can sell the car stock.

:( staying in the Skoda fold?

I don't know if that will be an option

Doesn't sound good then mate :( a forced sale or a moving upwards and onwards sale? :(

Change of circumstance possibly forcing sale.

But bit of an unusual one ;)

I parted with my Fabia and had to get another one a month later as I regretted the sale! Gutting

I hope this is nothing serious - I was hoping to see you with your modded vRS at Blyton Park on 3rd August!

Haha, not the kind of serious you mean Jabo,

There's still a chance I will get to Blyton, not sure at the moment

Like I said, that may not be an option

Dibs on brakes! Sorry couldn't help it!

In all seriousness, I hope you don't have to leave the fold. :-(

Dibs duly noted buddy :D

Hmm. Hope all is well mate. Just as the thread was moving into unchartered territory aswell :(

Hope all is well. In the meantime keep yourself around, I'm sure you're a veritable fountain of knowledge that we can't do without! Skoda or not, it's always good to have knowhow around on the forum :-)

Bwahahahaha really????

Fountain of knowledge :D

Whilst very kind, I think you would be sorely dissapointed, I knows what I knows, and I knows that it ain't that much.

But ofc I would definitely still kick around on Brisky.

Sounds like a change, but not a negative one IMO.

Be interesting to see any developments Sparkly.

would be a shame to sell after all the work you have put into it.

Seems strange you are stringing people along, what is the script Sparkly, get to the point.

I hope you haven't been scared off by the competition at How Fast?

Judging by his traveling updates the work of a super-spy has finally paid off enough to buy a car that comes with machine guns and probably has an Aston Martin badge. :D.

Two words Jimbo, bog off!

I'm not stringing anyone along about anything, nor is this some kind of cry for attention, I think I made two posts one saying the Fabia may have to be sold and another to say that it's nothing bad or anything anyone need worry about.

Unfortunately I can't actually say anything much more about it for the moment (not a spy), but I don't think that involves stringing anyone along. Would genuinely prefer to be able to chat about it.

And if I can be there I'll be happy to kick your pink golf's ass up and down the Bedford circuit ;)
