Richard's GT-R thread, old and new!

Featured Replies

I want to keep it fairly stock and just use it.

My old great grandmother had a saying for when she heard someone state

something that was very unlikely...

She used to say "I've heard ducks fart in windy weather before..."

It seemed appropriate to share.... Nice rice burner btw :p

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Spent many an hour lusting after cars on Newera's site, first time I saw a Skyline in the metal was in Melbourne 20 years ago. Lovely car Richard

By rights, Richard, you should be divorced 15 times over by now...........I know I would be  :(

The idea is to tweak it but not mess with the looks at all.

I remember saying that once  :)

Did that once, learnt my lesson. :D

I think I've looked at this one myself through new era. It was on their stock list for a while right? It's gorgeous. Love the LMs.

Enjoy!

Wait, you've sold the R35?

This is lovely. Read several highly praising articles about these cars. The wheels are almost as big as your son!

Yes, it was sold by Newera last year to a guy in Scotland, but unfortunately he went off to Afganistan never to return, so it was put back up for sale by Newera earlier in the year.  Only it was located in Scotland rather than being ready for shipping from Japan.

Wait, you've sold the R35?

I have. :)

I don't normally like these but this is going to be fun.

I know you want to keep it stock-ish, but my God have you seen the thermal paint on this car?!

This is astonishing................in a good way.............I think?

Spent a bit of time at RK Tuning this afternoon.

This is the most well known R32 specific tuner in the UK who has not only drag raced, but also track raced the R32.

Obviously he does the R33 and R34 too, but he really knows the R32.

Fortunately he is not only a nice bloke, but the workshop is 14 miles from me. :)

Much better than when I bought the R35 and Litchfield were three hours drive away...

Ron at RK Tuning has come up with some great ideas using his experience and a plan of attack has been formed to keep the R32 usable as a road car but also give it some track ability... and keep it looking almost standard.

Time to start ordering parts. :)

Every time I look around this car I can't believe the condition for a 21 year old vehicle! B)

Looks a lovely example Richard - enjoy it

I absolutely love these cars! if i could afford to run one let alone buy one i'd have one in a heart beat!

i know its 21 years old but how does it compare to the R35??

So whats the plans then? Usal handling upgrades (coilovers, arbs, bracing etc...) And the usal power upgrades(intake, zost, ecu, boost controller)?

Kind of.

Might be a rebuilt engine in there somewhere making around 550bhp too.

Head will allow 650bhp and bottom end built to take 800bhp, so running sensible turbos to keep minimal lag will mean a power figure in the 550bhp region that retains drivability on the road and is good for track work.  And it should be reliable.

Should end up with around 370-380bhp per tonne.

And it'll look stock other than the brakes and ride height.

Yawn...................not ANOTHER Boss Fox mega build thread

For a Skyline, it's not a mega build thread.

Be nice.

You know me better than that, Richard

Just my wicked sense of humour  :)

Well I've not got the R32 finished yet and on track, but on the road it's obviously very different.

A manual box, less electronics and it's around 300+kg lighter.

In short it's more fun, but lacking in the feeling of raw grunt and grip the R35 had.

I'm very glad I had the R35, it was a very impressive car.

But after 18 months and several track days I just got used to it.  It was only fun on track days and I was pushing it quite hard.

They say the R35 drives itself.  It doesn't, but it is relatively easy to drive unless you take it over 95% of what it can do, which a lot of owners don't.

The R32 by comparison comes alive at normal speeds.  It's the smallest, lightest and most twitchy of all the 4wd GT-Rs.

I am really looking forward to seeing how close to my lap times in the R35 I can get in the R32.

Technically it'll have a bit more power per kg, but it'll be more difficult to put that down and will have a manual gearchange.  Running a more track focused tyre may tip the balance towards the R32...

Heres hoping you don't pull the gearstick out of the centre console, as you have done before!!

It seems more securely attached than on the Yeti. :)

Will you be out before xmas on a track day or will it be the new year?

2014 now.

GT-R will probably be 2 or 3 months.

Citigo will probably be 3 or 4 months.

I will have a toy ready for the Spring! :)

(Or I'll be in the Yeti again...)

Also sprog no.2 is due in 5 or 6 weeks.  With all the obvious short term implications to spare time. ;)

I see, cars and children, it won't be long before we see a people carrier modification thread, A Sharran with 500 bhp  :wonder:

Look forward to seeing both the Nissan and Citigo in the new year.
