  • A few pics of the deeper red colour when the sun is down, brothers in arms.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

Holy moley love that R-34 i know it's a bit heavier and has a few more drivers aids but to me they are the ultimate Skyline, never seen one in that colour before though I always associate them with being blue.

Very nice but sorry to say you've got  a way to go before you reach the coolness of this. Oh the noise..... What a machine

Lovely 34 , the 34 is leagues ahead of the 32 and 33 IMO much more modern feeling and if anything going up in value

I just found a colour I like more on an R34 than Bayside Blue!

I nearly bought a Nur spec in Millenium Jade some years back but I do think Midnight purple 3 takes some beating

Very nice. :)

There is a good selection of colours on the R34.

Awesome car. Always had a massive soft spot for the R34. I think I've only ever seen two. Did the one at Silverstone make you want one?

No, he struggled to keep up with the Yeti. ;)

Only 510bhp.

I bet your mornings are difficult, choosing which epic car to drive to work. I know personally I would struggle with that choice.

What power does this one run? certainly has a lot of upgrades....

KIA EV. :)

Almost 800bhp at 1.8 boost, almost 850 at 2.

Absolutely stunning car! To be honest I'd heard of V-Spec, who hasn't that isn't a petrol head, but I'd never seen or heard of the M spec before.... Very nice car and in a gorgeous colour. I do love the midnight purple too though just this colour is just so different from the usual colours I associated with the Skylines in general.

The M spec is an interesting one.

There were something like 12,200 R34 GT-R cars sold.

About 7,000 of which were V spec, V spec II or V spec II Nur.

There are supposedly only 228 M spec cars and 250 M spec Nur.

So overall less than 500 M spec cars out of 12,200.

The hand sewn leather trim (first on a Japanese market GT-R) allegedly slowed production to a maximum of 50 per month.  So they never made a lot.

And they all came in this special paint finish.

Apparently when Mizuno took over as chief engineer of the GT-R project late in the R34's life he thought a slightly more civilised one made sense and so tweaked the suspension for better road use and added things like heated leather seats.

Hence M spec, M for Mizuno.

He then went on to be responsible for the R35 GT-R and only recently retired in the last year or so, overseeing the current GT-R's design and improvement until then.

Yes I can understand him wanting to make a civilised version of it.. sort of like an "executive" hooligan model of the car aside from the plain hooligan model. ;)

You then get the best of both worlds, surreal power with that bit extra comfort sounds like the perfect car TBH. Also as it is a limited edition in theory the value will hold better and pristine examples would gain value, in comparative terms of course.

The original (GT-R, not GT-X made to look like one) is an extremely cool car.

I think they are great.

Figure £80k plus for a good one.

I just wouldn't want to use it. :D

So basically about the same as a new R35 -I'm sure you'd be able to force yourself to drive it

So at 800 bhp I guess it's safe to say very few cars are going to be troubling you.

So what's the plans for the R-34? At that spec and condition I wouldn't want to drive it, that car will be worth an absolute fortune in years to come.

I was going to say looking at the car and the spec it is likely to be one of the more modern cars that are likely to become a collectors item,

Saying that almost ALL of Richard's cars are like that when he's done with them anyway. Can you imagine what the Yeti would sell for... or the Citigo, to the right person of course, as they're one offs and the prototypes for anyone else attempting big power.

Different kind of market their though. Proper collectors that will pay big money will want the car to be completely original, for something like the yeti or citigo they would do exactly what Richard has done and commission someone to build it for them.

Nice R34s have already gone up about £5k in the last two years.

R32s have now started to move as well, they've gone up around £2k in the last year.

You are right that serious collectors want an original one, but I am not going to buy a slow R34 just to lock it away and potter about in it to earn maybe £5k or £10k over the next 4 or 5 years.

A big smile and plenty of booooost is worth more than that!

This was only £5k over the price of a nice (less rare) V Spec and the amount of work its had is amazing.

I intend to really enjoy it.

And not lose money on it, even if it doesn't go up as quickly as a stock car. :)

Absolutely I share the same philosophy to me a car is supposed to be driven, no fun just say in a garage collecting dust.

The whole idea is to make a car perform better than it did when it left the factory, the R34 is already a supurb car but it can be made better and in a such a way that suits the particular customer.

You don't really come across as a person who is looking to make money from your cars.

If they have a Skoda badge on I usually fail spectacularly.

So it's just as well. :D

Lol well truth be told the bigger my bank account the more I'd fail. There is a perfectly explainable reason why I'm not and will probably will never be rich.
