Whats your next car / possible car after the MKI

Featured Replies

Well given mines high miler now but just keep running and running (may try and keep as a second car/long term fun car)

I'm hoping in the next few year/s to get a much newer family Octy Elegance TSI but this is more a hand down rather than an actual desire for the car (I'd have an Octy vRS if I could justify the cost!) - it will be at bargain trade price I'm sure, knowing my dad he probably wouldn't even let me give money for it lol.

We already have one MKII but they just don't excite me to buy another, and the engine probs of the MKII vRS would worry me.

If they made a Rapid vRS at decent price I'd buy that !

Although I'd also not rule out a high performance Yeti (the bigger 2.0TDI)....or something like a Kuga (why, am I mental!).

Can't stand stuff like the Nissan Cashcow or whatever its called though.

Or I could go way off the plot in future and get a slightly older Jag...maybe an XF?......they are ultimate in luxury, if expensive, not sure at what point I'd think it worth spending all that money on one.

Just not sure what cars are really aimed at me nowadays or what deal it would take from someone like Skoda to persuade me to move?

The MK1 vRS purchase was just SOOOOO right at the time ( really cheap, also knocked them down a bit, 0% apr, low tax and decent insurance etc). It was a no brainer.

Its funny with cars we can be part motivated by desire, partly by budget, partly by need. I'm still far from that crossroads where I hit the spot where I want/need to make a leap.

Go on, discuss what cars you would consider if not what you have.

  • My fabia vrs is today being replace by a seat exeo estate tech sport....

I love the looks of the Volvo C30 2.0 D R-Design, preferably the D3 or D4 model in red or white. I've sat in one so, I know that everything suits me alright, the thing that puts me off somewhat, is the DPF and the fact that they are known to give trouble in these models. Plus, I've always preferred the VW PD engine over the Ford Diesel.

So, decisions, decisions, to take the leap or not, that is the problem.

I always thought I would stick with my Tdi Fabia VRS now.... I don't know.

M3, M5, depends how flush I am at the point of getting another car. :D

Waiting for the new civic type r apparently coming out in 2015! Gonna keep the Fabia until the new civic prices goes down a tad whatever they will be lol

Is that the turbo one?

vw amarok ftw

New tyre r circa 280/300 bhp 2.0 litre vtec turbo.

Quickest fwd round nuurburing already quicker than a focus rs and Renault megane r26.r

Honda had to up their game tbh.

Is that the turbo one?

yeap. gonna be a minimum 280 bhp apparently..

Another Quattro A4. Miss having 4wd

VW Golf R - wowwwww

Slightly boring choices, but then my priorities are different. Main priority is will it get me to places for cheap, without breaking down, and can I fit all my stuff in it. My current Fabia fits the first requirement perfectly, although I sometimes struggle with the second. Also, I live opposite a school and parking is really tight much of the time. The fabia is just the right size for squeezing in by people's driveways without blocking them.

If I still live where I do, probably either a used Fabia MkII Elegance 1.6 TDI, or a Monte (although it's not really worth having anything flashy living opposite a school) or a used Diesel Golf, depending on how pennies are and how big a car I'll need.

If I move somewhere where parking is less of an issue, then I'd probably consider a used Rapid or Toledo as well. Shame Skoda's have to be Elegance spec to get fog lights as standard. I often end up driving in low visibility, so find them pretty necessary. It's going to be another couple of years before I can even consider a replacement, so hopefully there will be a few used Rapids/toledos around by then. the extra space will be a bonus when I've a car full of work kit to transport.

The way it going i will be driving mine in to the ground, the money spent on it will not be justified in selling it. Couldnt sell it for 3800 few months back and even then i would stand to loose about 4 grand. So i think there will be no car after but there might be one during. Have planned to get a golf mk2 project mid next year but failing that it will be a cheap mk1 octy 4x4 track project.

Possibly a VW Touran. Love them!

After the mk1 Fabia VRS some of us went a bit mad. :)

Still a big fan of the Yeti though, light tweaks and the top deisel or petrol are great (and surprisingly quick) cars.

Probably my favorite Skoda and I wouldn't part with it.

I look on it as a VRS, without the limitations of front wheel drive.

Skoda got the mk1 Fabia VRS bang on at the time.  They've done similar with the Yeti and Citigo IMO.

Possibly a VW Touran. Love them!

My mate has one in black, lowered and on 19s it looks great.

I'll probably end of with a 335d.

An EK9/DC2 but as a second car. I'll use the vRS as a daily.

after 2 years I recently moved on from my Fabia vRS to a 2010 Ibiza FR TDi.

Similar, in that it's another VW parts bin special, but the CR engine is so much better than the PD tractor lump.

I'm actually getting better economy in the Ibiza - haven't looked back.

If mine died, heaven forbid!

I'd get a Audi B8 S4

I'll probably end of with a 335d.

I second that!

Drove my managers BMW tonight and it was lovely!

Haha. Too many options. In an ideal world id have a T5, A4/A6 Quattro and A fabia VRS

But that's dreamland.

Very tempting, but a few things

For one, I find the "Seat" front grille a tad fugly when compared to even the mk1 Fabia, although I think that can be improved with the sportier kit? Its wierd the rest of the car has amazing styling but it seems like their luck ran out by the time it got to the nose. Although I'm sure that is subjective opinion.

Other things that would irritate me a bit, when you are looking for parts on say, ebay, how can it tell the difference between a "seat" and a "Seat" lol...but a minor inconvenience.

But otherwise, yes I can understand that as a very linear progression given Skoda don't offer that engine flexibility any more.

I would love to own a Honda S2000 but the biggest problem i've got i,s i've got used to the fuel economy of the Fabia.

God damn the price of petrol and road tax!

I’m quite new to my vRS, only had it a few months so I’ll probably be keeping it for a good number of years! I’ll probably get something like a BMW 330d once I’m done with it. Stick with some sort of sporty diesel.

Been there and had a few hot hatches in the past, can’t justify the running costs any more. If I want weekend fun I’ll get a nice bike for that side of things. At the moment I love how cheap the vRS is to run! Does about 25-30MPG more than my last car, half the tax, tyres are half the price etc.
