  • Wow! A bit of a fly on the wall comment in jest has been turned into me supposedly taking the credit for the size of the thread!?! Err...ok...   Just to clarify, I have far more important things to

  • Apologies is this thread is going a bit "off topic", but I'll carry on anyway as there is Golf R content... This is my personal experience of the S3, Golf R and M135i and the respective test drives.

No idea on maximum discounts, think Keith mentioned 14% discount the other day from a dealer up north.

VW Murray Plymouth have a really nice Limestone grey, 5 door DSG, pretty much fully loaded keyless/sat nav/leather etc at £38k and it was a customer cancelled order so they are keen to move it, as it is sat in the showroom ready to be registered, offered to me at £34k without any negotiations... So probably a deal to be had and no waiting time :)

They did a pretty amazing deal on my 3 door dsg back in the summer, so much so it has only dropped about £1250 in 6 months based on a recent provisional offer.

Cheers! Will pass the info along :-)

About 12.5% is the maximum you'll get. I played quite a few companies off against each other and that was their max.

Following on from this thread, have any of the Golf R owners who have got the DNS Pro sat nav, also got Google Earth etc installed and if so, what are their thoughts on it?

Read this and made me laugh. Guy on VWROC reckons he repeatedly wasted a 911 Turbo S in his golf R. Dream on lol.

LOLOL. Only in Lithuania

A family member with an R was taken out in a GTR (which i spose is pretty similar to the Turbo S performance wise?) and was completely mind blown by it. Saying there was no chance in hell the R would of got anywhere near it at any point.. ever..

the R is good at what it does.. but its not up there with the big boys just yet lol

You dont play with GTR's in the wet. They bite. Everyone knows that.

Anybody with any sense wouldnt be pushing hard in the wet in anything though.. Only takes an oil slick and youre through a wall.

In the dry though.. Theres literally no comparison. The tyres on the GTR are abit like bike tyres.. They need to get really warm before they start doing their magic

3rd and 4th "ish" across most of the tests ain't too bad for a lardy Golf ;)

So voted "Best Hot Hatch" 2014 by many critics.

2015 has also seen New competition beaten in there attempt to de-throne the R.imo

So it will be up to Ford Focus RS ,M2 and??? to provide a better all round package and VFM for 2016. Looks to be an interesting and challenging year ahead.

Have a Great Christmas and Enjoyable and successful New Year to Briskoda members!

Drive safely!!.

VW raising their deposit contributions across the range including the R.

My partners Polo GTI has an increased contribution to £1400 up from £1000. Car ordered today with a sizeable Orangewheels discount.

Just read, cannot disagree the R is just plain great at everything where some of the others excel in some areas but this can then make the R a bit boring but IMO it is an awesome all-round total package!

The R can be driven as hard in the wet as the dry and wipes the opposition but does it make it the best.......may be not. But for £28k OTR it is one hell of an accomplished all round package that others struggle to beat.

As the reviewer says let's see what the RS brings to the table :)
