What fuel filter is required for a mk1 1.4 16v petrol, ordered 503440818 from euro but it looks different

Featured Replies

As mentioned in the title i ordered a fuel filter a while ago and only just got around to looking at it.

I ordered 503440818 from euro car parts / car parts 4 less, however when i looked at the current filter against this one it looks different, there is a huge difference as the original one seems to be a sealed unit whereas the new one has a gaping hole at the top of it i am assuming for a larger pipe.

which part number do i need for my car?

Secondly how do you deal with that rusty screw holding the bracket on..almost rounded it off already :@

It could be that the new one comes with a built in pressure regulator whereas the old one has a separate regulator in which case you need to get rid of all the old stuff and fit the three pipes to the new unit.

Black pipe from the tank to the filter body, blue tank return pipe to the built in regulator stub and black fuel rail supply to the front of the filter, there should be an arrow for this.

ypu shouldn't have to do this with even patent parts.

take it back and just go to either the dealer or the parts specialist and get an OEM one.

OP, the fuel regulator is a separate part which pushes into the fuel filter.

Remove the old filter and swap the regulators over.
