Some great help and advice on this thread. Got my DDPai M6 Plus fitted last week.

Anyone installed a rear one yet?

Thinkware F770 front and rear dash cam (vRS) Chickened out and had professionally installed! Would have liked central in windscreen, but apparently cabling would have been too cramped entering bottom of lane assist housing.

Have you checked the operation of lane assist (whether or not you use it?) since the dashcam was fitted, just in case they've upset the LA camera and disturbed the calibration when the took the cable into the housing?

No reason why it should effect the lane assist, I fitted my F750 along the same lines (I used the rear camera in the windscreen though as it is smaller):

That did cross my mind, but lane assist still works absolutely fine and housing's secure.

Have the same camera, been very pleased so far with video and picture quality. Looks very discreet too - was tempted to get one for the rear after being shunted. How have you found it?

So far it's been fine. I like the fact that it's discreet and the magnetic mount is good.

Hope yours turns out to be fine too. Does what it says on the tin.

I'm starting to wish I'd purchased a smaller camera now. Tried re-positioning but the mirror housing seems huge so it's a no go!

I've got a Rexing V1 (A118 essentially) hard wired in and down the A Pillar and into the fuse box.

Despite having no problems in any other cars I've had it installed in, my hardwire kit doesn't seem to like the Octy.

Most times, when starting the car, a spike of power is sent to the hardwire kit and then turns off. If I restart the car it's fine or weirdly, when the engine turns off due to start/stop, it comes on after a few seconds...

Going to change to another fuse (currently in the Rear Wiper) to see if it helps.

That did cross my mind, but lane assist still works absolutely fine and housing's secure.

Cheers, Maverick

(Gizmo 68, it looked as if his housing had been disturbed for the cable to be fed inside it. Can't see the same in yours. I understand just a little movement is enough to unsettle the lane assist.)

I took my housing off to drill the hole for the cable.

I currently have a G1W Camera and have found 1. It wont stick to the black style sticker etc on the windscreen and 2) if I place it lower down it hangs to low on the windscreen.  Question is what camera do people recommand that I can use to get over these issues but also a camera which is fairly small and discreet.

cheers

In the process of finishing off installing my rear Mobious. Doing at the same time as fitting the reversing camera. Taken power from the wires I put in for the rear camera with a 12v to usb converter, and the converter tied up under the boot lid trim. Drilled a hole for the USB cable to come out and into the camera.

Probably have to play around with the positioning of it as it needs to be off centre because the rear wiper will be in the way. So just using Velcro to hold it while I get the position right then will think about mounting it better (or not).

Will post photos when done.

Out of interest, what hard wire kits and what fuses are people piggy backing for their dashcams?

I've got a SpyTec kit (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spy-Tec-Dash-Camera-Vehicle-x/dp/B00S73FE8A) that worked perfectly in my Fabia however on fuse 46 (rear wiper) I am experiencing problems so need to look at if it's incompatible with the power output or start/stop functionality.

I used the rear wiper fuse. Seems to be working fine.

Which hard wire kit are you using?

I'll double check the connections etc, but find that the only time it consistently works is after the engine has stopped due to start/stop. So doesn't really seem related to the connection but potentially the current/voltage or the kit it self :(

Where is the lane assist housing?

The plastic cover between the rear view mirror and lane assist camera and wiper sensors. This plastic housing varies in size and contents depending on model of car.  As I chickened out and had the camera installed professionally, I'm not too familiar with the process of removing etc! :)

I think you may have issues as the airbag crosses the top of the A pillar. That's why I went down the screen side. You may have more luck than me getting down the side of the dash.

See my pics above.

Fitted my ddpai m6 plus today, very much like this install, I used the ddpai hard wire kit (£10 on amazon) on the 12v always live fuse using a tap as I want to use parking mode.

I managed to squeeze the cable inbeteeen the bottom of A pillar and dash which took some doing!

Just to check, running the cable down the A pillar by the window, you can't actually tuck the cable right under the A pillar cover? It's hidden but just wedged into the small gap that's there ? I did try to pull the A pillar off but didn't want to break it.

Also, those who have gone across horizontally at the top of the A pillar and into the rubber seal, please check the curtain air bags as the vrs also goes accross passenger side too so any cable going accrosss the air bag will compromise safety. Just a heads up.

i ended up using a 5Amp fuse for the ddpai in the tap.

putting the glovebox back was bit cumbersome, I got there in the end but what a rubbish design, I pray I don't have to change a fuse on a dark road in the middle of no where.

Sorry no pics but they same as above really.

Nice job Biggy 7.

You should be able to run the cable down the front of the A pillar straight through to the underside of the dashboard, therefore it will not show as in your photo. On my 2015 Elegance I could poke right through as below and fish it out underneath then connect to the power.

Grab a torch and shine it down from the dash side and look underneath, you should see the where the light is coming from, I taped a thin tie wrap to the connector to make a rat tail and aimed the tie wrap/cable connector in that direction and then poked it through. No restriction on the bottom of the A pillar/dash and no give away cable to see.
